  1. If a pee tape leaks (pun intended) I will buy drinks for every one of you at the bar of your choice for an entire night.
  2. Lulz. Considering that the mansion was not actually bought above market considering that a mansion in the same community sold for a HIGHER price per foot than the one Trump owned earlier that year, your take is all fucked up. Further, the estate has since been subdivided and the owner has sold 2 empty lots for over $70M and he still owns the main house and acreage. You could actually argue Trump did not get enough for it. By the way, all of this is public record. It is the reason that no reputable journalist mentions it anymore because the whole thing was explained and debunked.
  3. I am very curious where you think these discussions happened? Was it at the meeting in Sessions senate office with his staff and 2 defense dept members? Was it at a reception in a room with 100 people? Was it at a cocktail party? Those seem like just perfect places to plan wide scale espionage and conspiracy. Rosneft? You bring this up all of the time and you know it is ridiculous. The rosneft partial sale was to Glencore and the Qatari govt. It had been in the works for over a year before Trump even became a nominee. By the time the supposed payoff to (I am not even sure who you think was paid)... supposedly happened, the deal was deep in the final stages of due diligence. It is absolutely impossible that the attorneys and bankers for Glencore and the Qatari govt would let a sale that big go through if there was some state espionage connected to it, especially if the connection involved the US. Glencore and Qatar are in the business of making money. Yet, you want us to believe that they put billions of dollars on the line in a deal where russia was "bribing" the potus. And if they got caught, the resulting sanctions against russia and then rosneft would devalue their investment to nearly nothing. I have never heard even one single legitimate source even speculate about the rosneft deal. It was mentioned in the dossier. You are a total and complete loon.
  4. Agreed, I am friends with one of the actors and got to go to an advanced screening which was fun but maybe the pre-movie excitement was too much to really get into the film. Second watching I liked it even more. Curiously, Chastain is pretty mesmerizing as an actress and i really like her but I can not decide if I think she is hot or not. She is certainly attractive but, for me, not that arousing.
  5. Anastasis is being provocative? You have referenced twice about these secret meetings that Sessions lied about and you know well that he did not deliberately lie about them and that the "meetings" to which you are referring to are total nothings. Sessions had 1 meeting with Kisylak in his senate office with his senate staff as well as 2 senior defense officials. It certainly seems unlikely that Kisylak and Sessions colluded on the upcoming election in a meeting with 5 other people including 2 who had no direct connection to Sessions. During that stretch Kisylak met with dozens of senators and Sessions met with dozens of foreign ambassadors. And, as you also know, the FBI told Sessions he did not need to disclose meetings with foreign officials he met with in his capacity as a senator on his SF86. The other 2 "meetings" were nothing more than PUBLIC appearances where Sessions and Kisylak both happened to be at and they exchanged "pleasantries". Which, of course, is completely normal for the Russian Ambassador. This is just so typical of the entire collusion angle. There is nothing at all nefarious or immoral or illegal or unusual about Sessions "meetings" with Kisylak. Nothing. Yet people twist and turn it and the media fuels the speculation and suddenly Sessions is colluding with Russia.
  6. Sessions was pretty much a dead man walking when he recused himself from the investigation. Trump would not have nominated him if he knew he would recuse and would have fired him right then if not for the amazingly bad political optics. Trump wants an AG like Obama had in Holder/Lynch. People are making way too big of a deal about this. It will not have any effect on Mueller. The investigation is so far down the road that nothing will stop it at this point. Mueller will get to tell his story, for better or worse, in its entirety.
  7. So many classic lines in that movie- motorboat, stage 5 clinger, good band, bad band its like pizza baby, might as well be a bulls'eye, lets go shoot some birds, im not perfect, but who are we kidding, you arent either, a friend in need is a pest (great surly motto), whole speech with the priest. No doubt. He was pretty good in Hacksaw Ridge
  8. Have to agree on the Tom Cruise as reacher posts. Horrible casting. Horrible casting does not mean that the actors that were cast are horrible actors it is just that they were not a good fit for the role. I am probably in the minority but I think cruise is actually a very talented actor. I assume Hollywood would make a movie based on a book character in order to get all of the tens of millions of people that read the books to go to the movie. Considering that zero people that were fans of the book would think he was good in that role seems to indicate that it was poorly cast
  9. Damon and Will Smith in Bagger Vance we’re just terrible. They are both pretty solid actors but they were so miss cast that it ruined the movie.
  10. Kind of agree here but I thought he was fantastic in wedding crashers.
  11. When the repubs make statements about dems that want open borders I always assumed that they, the repubs, were simply exaggerating or taking comments out of context. I guess now I believe/hope there are only a few out there. I can not imagine the level of disconnect from reality that has to exist to get to the point of actually advocating for open borders.
  12. Wow. Perfect microcosm for this place. Person A: We should reconsider birth citizenship Person B: Look at all of these countries like Mexico that have it. Person B 5 minutes later: Why should we ever want to be like Mexico.
  13. Fair point. Let me re-phrase (although Canada is currently included in that list and their laws are different and Canada does NOT offer citizenship to babies born to illegal immigrants). Lets just look at Mexico as it is on our border just like Canada. You are correct that under their current laws, anchor babies (hate that term but it is easy to type) are initially citizens of Mexico. However, it is a moot point practically speaking. Mexico can and does deport the parents of anchor babies. Under Mexican law, they can and do deport the parents for any reason and without any due process. The parents have the "choice" to leave the babies in Mexico and have them enter the Mexican welfare system. Obviously, few if any parents do this.
  14. It is just not that simple. We had periods as recently as 2011 where we had unemployment over 10%. At that point we did not need additional uneducated workers in the country. I have made my stance known right here on this thread that I think an enhanced guest worker program is by far the best solution to our needs. When we have demand, let in as many folks as necessary to meet the demand. When the demand lessens or goes away, send the guest workers back to their own country. As far as capitalism goes, this is by far the most economical solution. You bring in the human capital you need when you need it but you do not have to support that human capital when you do not need it. Many, many countries do this already. The dems are the ones that consistently shoot down expanded guest worker solutions. The biggest reason is that the unions hate it and the dems are beholden to them. Like I said, neither party wants a truly workable solution.
  15. I agree that the gang of 8 proposal was pretty fair. It is wrong to say it was an "Obama" or "Repub" or "Dem" plan though as, by its name, the gang of 8 was bi-partisan. I agree that it was shitty of the repubs to kill it. My point though was that there was a period where the dems could have put forth a proposal where they controlled the House as well as the Senate and Boehner would have had no power to kill it before a vote and they chose not to do it. Neither side really wants a workable solution.
  16. Hayden- This is such a poorly thought out emotional blame the republican post and you know it. This new tactic of trying to somehow use immigration reform as somehow in conflict with capitalism is just too stupid. "capitalism requires globalism, and globalism requires the movement of capital, goods, and labor across international borders." For the most part this is exactly correct but you forgot maybe the most important word which is legal. You think capitalism is dependent on capital and goods moving between countries illegally or under ground? Of course not. I do not like the hard right approach to immigration at all. I would not deport anyone that is currently in the US and obeying the law. But trying to make an argument that trying to restrict/prevent ILLEGAL immigration is anti capitalist is retarded.
  17. So where do you draw your line? I am assuming that you think it is wrong to deport the parents of babies born in the US? What about the babies of parents that commit crimes? Should we not imprison them because their babies did nothing wrong? In those albeit rare situations, the babies become wards of the state and are placed with foster parents or relatives if available and willing. Is that a satisfactory plan for these immigrant babies? Of course the answer is no. No one would want that. But the law currently says people caught in the country illegally should be deported. If the parents should legally be deported then the baby should go with them. But we do not deport US citizens. It is not an easy issue to decide on.
  18. The reality is that immigration is just a political tool for both parties. Bush 2 had a sensible plan for immigration and the repubs rejected it. Obama and the dems had control of the house and senate and proposed exactly zero immigration fixes. I tend to agree that birth citizenship needs to be re worked. I kind of like Canada's policy. Basically, if you are born here you are a citizen as long as your parents/mother are in the country legally. Immigration could be drastically improved if we adopt a very streamlined guest worker program. I would support an almost unlimited guest worker program. Essentially, have employers send requests for guest workers and have virtually all of them be approved. If/when we get to a point that no employers are requesting workers then stop issuing work visas. To the original topic, if a baby is born to a guest worker in the US then the baby is a citizen by birth. If you are in the US as a guest worker you should have ample ways to apply for citizenship while you are here if you want it. Take the caravan as an example. If we currently had 50,000 requests for guest workers, then lets go find 7000 Guatemalans and bring them in to fill those jobs. A lot safer for them than walking across mexico. But lets not kid ourselves. In no other country can people sneak into that country illegally and have a baby and then that baby be considered a citizen of that country.
  19. 4 points. The whole Jacob story is really bizzare. Hard to even follow. Really crazy folks that, if what they are accused of doing is true, should absolutely be prosecuted. The common takes by the usual suspects on Papa could not be more wrong and stupid. That tweet above about a trump secret subpoena are hilarious. You guys need to start preparing for life after Mueller says there was no collusion and no obstruction.

Didn’t see a thread on the show but I only looked on the first page. I think it is pretty darn good. For anyone that watched the season two finale, I have a brand new favorite TV show line of all time. “ I don’t know shit about fuck “. Too funny
  23. While there is almost no doubt that trump is grandstanding and inflating numbers etc, the "counterterrorism official" is- "A former senior intelligence official who continues to be briefed on current intelligence told NBC News that there is no evidence that any Middle Eastern terrorists are hiding in the caravan." Now that is a solid source. Anyone being remotely honest would acknowledge that it is likely that there are gang members and or terrorists that have infiltrated the caravan. I am sure the number is quite small. From a practical standpoint, it is unlikely that they will make it into the US if they stick with the caravan as all of those people are going to be pretty extensively back ground checked. All of the talk about gangs and terrorists is just political garbage anyway. The real question we should be debating is what exactly should the US policy be on dealing with mass migration in the future.
