  1. All this talk of drinking dreams has found it's way into my subconscious. Twice this week I've had resentment dreams and it's not been pretty. I can handle the occasional drinking dream as I know it's just a fleeting thing that happens. I believe that my higher power can/has restored me to sanity and my desire to drink is gone. What I don't understand is why even though I've done a 4th step on some issues, they keep popping up in dreams. These are the things that led to my relapse and the things in real life that lead to depression, bad thoughts....eventually fuck it, hopelessness, then drinking. The first one I worked through quickly in my morning meditation two days ago. The one last night has stuck with me all day because I'm still feeling the financial pain from it in my daily life. I am learning that joyous, happy, and free are just for alcohol and the rest is going to be a fight. "Life ain't fair and the world is mean." I am grateful I'm not in that pit of hopelessness anymore, but damn I hate that my brain reminds me at times of how I got there. My biggest issue in sobriety is not my daily life, which is pretty chill. It is my reaction to what the world throws at me when I'm minding my own damn business. Thank you for giving me a place to put this to "paper". No matter how good I'm doing, my fear and lack of trusting the world will sneak up on me. Sometimes in the form of dreams. I feel better, but damn if I know for sure I belong here. Thank God my side of the street is clean and I don't have to drink today. Much love.
  2. Thank God its Cummings running this. He's not going to take any shit. Game Day!
  3. Holy fuck. I've heard those terms in Spain for years, but I never knew there was an actual chart. The Spanish are racist as hell, but that makes it official, apparently. Crazy how you can get back to being Spanish in just two generations. I'd also heard the term 'lobo' before, but I naively thought it was a wild child. Guess not, because Spain is racist.
  4. Absolutely. Lindelof is now the player I thought we purchased. He was way too scared of making a mistake under Mo and is now playing with confidence. Shaw is the same way. He has the same fight in him that he always had, but now playing with smarter and more free. Their work again Liverpools attack was pretty special. Pool never got any real attacking momentum or sustained periods in our final third. Great stuff by the D yesterday.
  5. Jesus, fine, you win. Fuck Chelsea, they aren't making it. I was 100% saying under no circumstance will they make the top 4 or sneak in the back door. They are the worst big club in the Premier League....even worse than.....Arsenal! Does that make you feel better? From now on I will begin any and all analysis, shit talk, whatever with "In my opinion, but I'm not 100% guaranteeing so don't bet the house on it..." They held them scoreless, they weren't playing for points, it was a cup final.
  6. Not saying it couldn't happen and things do move quickly, you are correct. Three months ago United were in the shitter and heading in the wrong direction. Change at the top was made and things improved quickly. At the same time Chelsea were only 4pts back from second and appeared to be a solid squad. Now, they're heading in the wrong direction with a manager who has lost the squad and a team giving minimal effort. I'm glad you believe that will make for a great turn around, thats what supporters do. Maybe it does happen, maybe Hazard wakes up against Spurs and becomes VY, and maybe they continue to be the dysfunctional squad I believe them to be. I'll take the side with momentum with 11 matches to go over the squad who's coach is leaving the touchline because his keeper can't/won't listen to him. Good times. BTW, if anyone thought that Liverpool was running away with this thing 3 months ago they're dumb. Man City is far and away the deepest and most talented side in the EPL. Pool's first eleven can take match up with anyone, but lack of depth was always going to be a problem. I don't remember anyone crowning them back then.
  7. Yeah, because they seem to be firing on all cylinders and giving maximum effort for each other and their manager at the moment. A real inspiring story of hope going down the stretch. I don't doubt they have the talent to back door their way in to Champions, but it doesn't look good for them in their current form. There are a lot of good squads left in Europa and cups are a finicky bitch. United's string of injuries in the last two matches to Herrera, Lingard, Mata, Matic, and Martial certainly changes things in the league. We'll see if they can grind out the 4th spot. The match at Arsenal on March 10th is massive.
  8. No worries Mid. Sure, Chelsea might have a chance to sign some guys while they are appealing, but the caliber of player they're used to signing won't be going there when they miss out on the CL. Plus, why would you go there during appeal when you know they can't improve the squad for two years? They've had some very good players come through their academy in recent years, but they typically sell them. They're in an identity crisis right now and this ban hurts a lot.
  9. I meant that he has to go play for a team in turmoil without transfer reinforcements during the offseason. He will also miss the chance to play in the Champions league next season because Chelsea won't finish top 4.
  10. Sucks for Pulisic about the ban, but fuck Chelskea. They are not going to be good for a while, especially when Hazard leaves. Thanks for the chart, very cool. United haven't won a league trophy without an Irishman. I'd be happy to take Declan Rice (while he's technically still Irish) as a future replacement for Matic. Matt Doherty at fullback is very salty for Wolves right now.
  11. WTF? Why did they photoshop a different head on the kid in lane one?
  12. Truth about why he was hired. There is no law however saying that a sitting President can't be indicted, it is just DOJ policy. Barr was made AG because he has publicly said he agrees with this policy. They could unseal one of those likely Trump indictments in DC if they wanted to. Yes, @Hugo Stiglitz he absolutely must testify. He is the only person in the country that would be must see TV and has the credibility to change minds.
  13. I understand the not compromising of sources and methods. I also think the gang of 8 or whatever part of Congress who regularly sees the unredacted shit should be making the call as well. The information coming out of a hand picked Trump AG with a questionable past doesn't really conjure up supreme public confidence. Sure he's better than most, but I guess Trump is winning the game of destroying trust in our institutions, especially in his court/justice picks. Fucking hell I'm ready for this to be over with. What a dark time we are living through.
  14. That's bullshit if Congress only gets a summary. They need the whole thing if they're to do a proper investigation. Barr is going to fuck this thing, unless Mueller has already handed off absolutely everything that needs to be prosecuted. I can only pray for the latter.
  15. We're going to have to make a fucking cartoon version of this for the cretins aren't we?
  16. Where do you live? Any of us would be happy to talk with you about it and guide you through it.
  17. Sounds familiar at a Spanish University. A lot of open protests, political action, and some strikes. It was pretty badass studying there. Franco is not some long forgotten problem. There are still plenty of fascists running around. Hell, 10 years ago the President of Galicia (autonomous region in the NW of Spain) was Manuel Fraga. Fraga was the minister of tourism under Franco and ambassador to the UK. He was a key founder of the Partido Popular, which is basically the GOP of Spain. Fascists and their offspring are still very popular among the wealthy and older folks in Spain. The undiscussed atrocities of Franco and his dictatorship have made it very easy for the mainstreaming of fascist thought in mainstream politics. If you think we're polarized here, you've seen nothing like Spanish politics. They have actual socialists and communists, not just cute Congresswomen from NY who subscribe to socialist policies Americans freak out over. Franco was a motherfucker and is still revered in many parts of the country, though thankfully they are dying off. Edit. Whatever you do don't speak ill of Franco to the police and especially not to the Guardia Civil. They love beating the shit out of anyone who may be of a different political persuasion when they can.
  18. Agreed. I tried for six months to get in the oil business by calling and sending resumes to people I've known my whole life. All I heard was "we'll let you know when things pick up", and "are you sure you want to do this, it might be boring for you."? Who gives a shit if its boring, there's a lot of money being made. Sure there is uncertainty, but there's also a shitload of money being made by guys in land/title work I know that barely graduated HS. It's not rocket science, but getting in feels harder than NASA.
  19. Not as I expected, but I'm not shocked. We didn't play poorly and we didn't play great either. That was a top side with lots of pace and skill going forward. What kills me is giving up that set piece goal. I can't believe Matic of all people was the one to stop on the play. I understand giving up that second goal based on the speed vs. speed and the lack of pace we have in the back. We still should've got at least one back, but we had fucking Alexi on because of injury. I can't figure out why he gets on and Martial is left out. I have never seen someone get paid so much to kill their own teams attacks. I look forward to him not being on the squad next year. The ref sucked and Pogbas second yellow was harsh. I would've loved for him to get to play in Paris and have a go in his home country. Don't think we have much a shot in the second leg, but that is why you play the game. We all know PSG have a wonderful record of falling apart at the right time.
  20. I see that, but they also lose a chance at Senate seats if they puss out and turn it into a referendum on Trump investigation. They've got all fucking summer to have their hearings etc. and do their jobs. You don't want this fight in 2020 to be about a "convoluted' investigation, which the R's will turn it in to, with the help of the Russians. Can't have that. Must have the case presented in an official capacity and not on the campaign trail. We haven't seen what active measures our adversaries have ready for us.
  21. That I can see in the Senate, but damn if it doesn't even make it over from the House.
  22. Wow. We're really fucked if they fail to do their duty. The precedent it sets will mean that nothing truly matters and Brisket is the smartest man on the internets.
  23. Correct. A major factor in this was the D's allowing the GOP to shape this narrative (as always) in their shock after the election. They were able to say this was about being poor losers because Trump won and as usual the media ran with it and here we are. It is why the Senate not being the statesmen they have to be in our system is so worrysome. Democrats still play by the old rules, which has kept the country afloat for a long while. McConnell and Co. will have their chance to prove themselves when the investigation comes out and impeachment is thrown their way. We shall see, it's 50/50 in my book which side they fall on, no matter the evidence. Serious business in the hands of histories clowns. Blanket of shame better be heavy as hell.
  24. And that is why I hop on the Brisket train some days. I realize we are fucked as a nation because no matter the evidence of conspiracy between his family, campaign, and his own financial dealings with Moscow, nothing will change peoples minds. Maybe if there is a recording of him asking for Russia to hack Clinton's emails, it might matter. Or maybe invite the Russians into the Oval Office the day after firing the FBI director and telling them there is now nothing to worry about, it might matter. Hell, he could even stand before the world in a Nordic country and fellatiate Putin with his lies, cowardice, and acquiescence for his daddy and nothing will matter unless there is a contract written in blood. I have faith though that the investigation is taking so long because the mountain of evidence is necessary. There can not be one mistake in it because the GOP will come at it like a bitch. It will be the hill they die on, and it will work with much of the country. It blows my mind that they can do this with vaccines, climate change, tax cuts for the wealthy causing massive deficits, and Pence not being gay because of his beard, but they are able to do it. The evidence must cover the rubes like a blanket of fucking shame to be ridiculed for history. I believe the country will survive if this can be done. Hell, did anyone ever think you'd hear Republicans admit the Iraq War was bogus? Freedom Fries and Toby Keith say no, but history says yes. USA, USA!
