  1. I had huge 10+ sq ft patches of it all over my yard after that week of rain. I sprayed any obvious areas with the bioadvanced stuff, raked out a lot of thatch, and then top dressed the areas with dillo dirt. Within 2-3 days the areas were green and growing again. The thing I have heard about most fungal diseases (at least the common ones) is that they don't actually kill your lawn. They just hurt the blades of grass which kinda stunts the growth and discolors the lawn. All the research I've done has said that once you get them under control, the grass will come right back.
  2. Bioadvanced by Bayer has a liquid bottle you spray with the hose. I thought about using granulars for a gradual treatment, but that stretch of 5 days of hard rain we had in early July and the high heat and humidity that followed kickstarted the fungus issues. If the problem has already set in and the spots have spread to takeover entire sections of the lawn, I think a liquid application is better.
  3. Trust me - it's expensive up front, but it'll save you a lot of money in the long run, when you consider what a box of 10 flies runs in most retail shops. Bass flies are notoriously more expensive than you average dry trout fly. (sturdier hooks, more expensive, high volume of material, etc) If you wanted to get started tying clousers and buggers, you can do so for around 250 bucks and end up with a solid vice and enough material to tie quite a few flies.
  4. There are lots of awesome craw patterns, some of which are pretty easy ties. There are also worms made with chenille which look a lot like senkos. Frog poppers tied with deerhair are not easy to tie unless you know how to properly stack and cut deer hair (and you buy high quality hair) The good news is that you can buy them for around 5 bucks a pop. https://www.google.com/search?q=deer+hair+frog&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS752US753&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=mkuaPyuMOR4T5M%3A%2CTYJsIz9xhLGbYM%2C_&usg=__QDa4e12l8Xard1pqq0RumP5H6qU%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi7qdvbgrjcAhUKY6wKHRlGBOwQ9QEIKzAA#imgrc=mkuaPyuMOR4T5M: If I were fishing stocked tanks or bayous, I'd pickup a few larger clouser minnows, some topwater deer hair frog/baitfish imitators and a few beaded craws. Also, you dont have to fish a polyleader or a sinking/intermediate line, but when targeting bass in the summer holding in deeper holes - I find it helps tremendously to get your fly down to them. A lot of people think they can just tie on a subsurface streamer to a floating line and 12lb mono leader, but I've found that is not nearly as effective.
  5. I've been making some significant progress. Had to treat some fungus in a few areas that are stressed. Had to pull some grass up and resod a few places that had bad root contact and lots of rock underneath. Been giving the lawn a regular monthly dose of Milorganite, and top dressing the stressed areas. This was a photo a few days after a two inch cut. You can see that bastard nutsedge popping through already where the hose drips.
  6. Yah, I'm worried I'm going to find a much bigger problem than originally expected. We planted a couple trees in the back yard quickly discovered the entire yard seems to sit on a clay/caliche soil that seems to get as hard as cement when it's wet. Couldn't find any black dirt at all after digging 6 holes. Fuck.
  7. This makes a lot more sense than fungus. I've noticed when I've pulled up any areas that are yellow or brown thus far (during the heat of the summer), I find hard compacted sandy loam and lots of construction debris - mainly rocks, concrete, mortar from the masonry work. I'm going to do some light aeration in those areas and top dress this weekend. I'm almost 100% positive the builder didn't do anything do the soil and didn't follow the proper new sod watering schedule prior to us closing.
  8. Is that common with brand new sod? The info I'm reading on it says its a fungal root rot, is that correct?
  9. So I'm almost 4 months into my new lawn (Tif419 sod installed 3/22) The builder did the front yard and I did the back myself. My front yard is bumpy, uneven, and there are numerous areas 10+sq ft or larger that seemingly havent grown an inch in 4 months. They are kinda off color, yellow green as opposed to bright or blue green. I've fertilized twice with Scotts TB (not weed n feed) and had a lot of help early on from spring rain. I'm wondering if I should go to a higher nitrogen fertilizer or maybe even Scotts Green max to give these areas a surge of growth as they appear to be stunted. Oddly enough, the backyard is completely even, no lumps, and looks 10x better than the "professional" install that came with the house. I have some similar areas that appear not to be growing but a majority of the yard looks dark green and lush. I've followed the same fertilizing schedule with the back so I'm not really sure where to go from here.
  10. The Shimano Exsence (which is a 150 size Core-based reel with an 8.0:1 ratio and the same DC chip they are using in the Curado) is designed for catching sea bass. I've have that reel and used it for 3 years heavily, fresh and salt. I clean and lube once a year in the winter and pretty much only do a freshwater rinse and wipe after salt trips. I've had the JDM version of this Curado for a few months but haven't fished it a lot in saltwater thus far. I mean - a Curado is 180. This reel is 60-70 more. Still less than than a Chronarch.
  11. This will be the first DC reel released on the USDM market with a retail around $249. The previous iterations of the Antares or Calais DC were over 500 bucks. This particular DC system will absolutely increase distance and allow you to cast directly into headwind on the coast. The chip detects rotational speed of the spool and gradually adjusts brake force as the bait changes speeds or slowly or abruptly. There's a video at iCast on Facebook right now of a guy throw a lure directly at a wall at full speed without thumbing. No backlash. I have the JDM variant of this reel release about 18 months ago. It has a 1, 2, 3, 4 setting and then has a setting for braid, flouro, big baits (heavy lures) and a SP mode. The SP mode is great for using at night or when you really need to just bomb the shit out of a lure and will completely avoid a backlash so long as your spool tension is properly applied. I use it on my frog rod at night where I'm throwing a frog on a 7'4" heavy rod in pitch black and rarely do I ever need to anticipate my bait hitting the water. If you haven't owned one before, this reel will be a 100% game changer. The only thing even close is Daiwa's Alphas SV w/ Magforce Z braking.
  12. Kinda late on this one but Shimano is rolling out a Curado DC for the US market (they've been around in the JDM market for years now) The braking system is controlled by a digital chip which can apply spool braking based on a number of factors (type of line, weight of bait, rotation speed of spool, etc) and can almost completely eliminate backlashing in windy conditions. I have a few of the JDM models in my arsenal and will be picking up one of these and another Exsence as soon as they drop.
  13. Going on a meat haul at Canyon Lake tomorrow. Anyone got any recommendations for catfish out there? We were going to put in at Cranes Mill and fish around the river mouth.
  14. Yah. Danny's 10 mil a year isn't nearly as bad as Pau's 16 mil a year. I wish we could get someone else to pay that but it's not likely. That is an insane amount of money for a 37 year old declining big.
  15. You guys must've not watched the same GS team I did this year. I'm a die hard Spurs fan and I didn't think we had a chance against them - even if we had Leonard back from a major injury. Anyhow - I don't think for a second that the Spurs organization had any intention of bringing Kawhi back early. The team was playing well, and was competitive up until the Playoffs.
  16. I've said it before - but I don't really want Kawhi Leonard to stick around. We're losing an amazing player but anyone who would ever insinuate that an organization like the Spurs would willingly put his health at risk in order to get him active for what? Wins? Playoff hopes? You think Pop and RC felt like the Spurs had a chance at beating GS this year (even with Leonard?) Any player willing to completely cut off all ties with an organization because of that isn't worthy of wearing the silver and black. This organization has set the standard for handling star players, managing injuries and prolonging careers of their players, etc and they would never purposely bring someone back who doctors felt was still injured. That whole story about him still being in pain despite what multiple doctors and MRIs show is fishy as fuck. If he told them he was still in pain - no team would put him at risk of re-injuring himself. I'm just hoping we can swindle the fuck out of someone desperate enough to give up some young stars and some picks.
  17. Is this the area of Plum Creek that is for residents only?
  18. I used a place based in Lakeway. Had the best price on 419 Tifway delivered (125 per pallet) Not sure if they have it in stock at their office in Lakeway. https://thegrassoutlet.com/contact/austin-pickup-location/lakeway/
  19. Yah but do they sell Whataburger brand breakfast sausage and mustard? I rest my case.
  20. lol. Kevin Love has never played a day Cleveland like he did in Minnesota. The Cavs "super teams" have never held a candle to the 3 + Durant Warriors team. Their ability to score the ball at will has never been matched by any team I've see in 30+ years of watching.
  21. To his credit though - Tim Duncan was a defensive tactician and has a lot of fucking blocks on the books. He was never a scoundrel like Sheed.
  22. And honestly - I think a line has to be drawn between players from the 80s/90s who I hated (Laimbeer, Rodman, Malone, Stockton, Sheed, Fisher, etc) and Draymond Green. He is more arrogant and loudmouthed than most of those guys and he's got the same problem as Laimbeer and Ndamakong Suh with regard to trying to cheapshot people during games. It's almost laughable - every time he falls down for a loose ball, he's tangled up in someones arm, or his foot is up in the air flailing toward their face. He's a fucking disgrace to sports and I can only hope one day his mouth writes a check his ass can't cash.
  23. First list had Najera. He played high school ball at private school I attended growing up through some exchange program. He was a prick then too.
