  1. An friend of mine gave this excuse, nevermind that she's divorced with 2 kids, dating a dude with 3 kids from a previous marriage, and a year away from 40. And not surly 1%.

Hearing about Sebastian Driussi being a possibility, anybody know if the rumor has legs?

Finally opened up the John J Bowman Single Barrel last night. It's really good, considering it was MSRP of $45 or so. I'm sure I'll never find it on a shelf again.

No idea. They motioned to his head and it kinda looked like a concussion interview, but I don't remember him taking a knock. And we're terrible in the box. We started the game brightly because Seattle obviously hadn't scouted us very well. After the defense saw the first few runs in the box they knew exactly where our guys would go. I dunno if it's down to the players or the coach, but the movement in the final third sucks. Similarly, if we don't work the ball to the wings we have a real problem even getting into the final third. We can't pass our way into it, and we damn sure don't have someone who can consistently beat his man off the dribble in the middle of the field. Fagundez is a nice player but he'd be much better if the defense had more to worry about. We need help, quickly.
  5. Dunno how old you are but considering J&J does poorly against Delta, and the mRNA ones do fairly well, you might reconsider this stance.
  6. Because that makes it ok to attend a Klan rally? Obviously there wouldn't be a rally if half the participants didn't show up. Except for the math involved. These assholes will get their day in court to try to raise reasonable doubt about entrapment by the FBI. The fact that anyone thought it was an even halfway decent idea to go after a sitting fucking governor in modern day America is astounding. Maybe I'm giving the feds too much credit before the trial even starts, but when you start talking about kidnapping and assassinating state governors I'm not going to be surprised when the FBI throws the proverbial kitchen sink at the investigation. I would say reasonable Americans would expect them to do just that.
  7. Talked to my kid's pediatrician this morning at a well check. She's frustrated as hell, and doesn't expect anything until December for the next age cohort. Hope yours have a better finger on the pulse.

Saw that Djitte still isn't training or expected to play Thursday. Bummer, we need some help offensively.
  9. We were never going to get a double dose regimen administered world wide at sufficient rates in a small enough time frame to keep this from becoming endemic. Realistically by the time we knew it was a problem in early December it was probably already too late. That's not human stupidity (although our lagging vaccination rate in the US is stupid), it's a function of a connected world and how vaccines are manufactured and administered. I still think it's crazy for anyone who might travel anywhere to not want their kids vacc'd ASAP. The twitter thread linked above laid it out pretty simply: you're going to be exposed. If you're vacc'd and have a breakthrough infection, it'll almost certainly be mild (~750 deaths in the US out of 161 million fully vacc'd) unless you're already seriously ill. It doesn't matter if it's a gas station in rural Arkansas or a beach in Mexico, there's going to be exposure to covid moving forward. Limiting the severity and the number of infections across age groups seems like a no brainer to me.
  10. I agree with this almost completely. Only thing I'd disagree with is that the "refuse to vaccinate" crowd skews younger, my anecdotal experience is a little heavier on the middle-aged and older segment of society being vaccine hesitant. In looking at the CDC data, you're right though. Vaccinations have really slowed progressively for all of the younger cohorts.
  11. Wait, the forecast is 26.8 inches of rain just south of Tyler over the next 10 days without a hurricane camping out? In July? wtf
  12. Fuck no. But he fouled the guy because his body and feet were just positioned wrong. Just stupid fucking coaching
  13. This is why you don't play players out of position.
  14. Defense has nice passing range thus far too.
  15. Turf looks like shit. Ball is bouncing all over the place. annnnnnnf goal
  16. I almost feel bad for Martinique. Almost.
  17. I had a nice 100.5 degree fever this morning and felt like I got hit by a truck. Pondering if I should go get tested, I had Moderna and had pretty much the same symptoms after the 2nd shot.

Lots of folks in our group aren't going to the friendly tonight.
  19. https://www.ciel-et-terre.net/hydrelio-floating-solar-technology/hydrelio-products/ They're angled, but no actuators or rotation of the anchoring system for seasonal/temporal adjustability. It's a pretty KISS system actually. Only real maintenance concerns are occasionally cleaning the panels of bird poop/dirt, which you usually would do with a traditional mounting system anyway. Some company has invented a robot that drives over the panels and cleans them.
  20. Interesting. Any rough guesses how many of those storage ponds there are for the average city in Texas? It seems like the one in Healdsburg is for treated sewage that is earmarked for agricultural use, not drinking water. Similar to the one in Altman. https://www.northbaybusinessjournal.com/article/news/healdsburg-debuts-biggest-floating-solar-farm-in-nation/
  21. I went down the rabbit hole after seeing the floating solar arrays and found this, apparently there is now one in Texas out by Altman: Heres an article: https://www.bluebonnet.coop/Community/News/articles/2021/Other-posts/Floating-solar Here's a podcast about the project: https://mysuncast.com/suncast-episodes/380 @Scheiss Meister is this something we could do at water treatment plants here in municipalities? Healdsburg or some other town in California is doing this currently at one of their plants.
  22. I was more trying to convey that people should perhaps temper their behavior when in public because there are dumbshits everywhere. But point taken, it was a statement to the extreme.
  23. I thought about posting this video in the DT thread that had some coal/powerplant discussion but figured it would never have a honest discourse based on who actually comments in that forum now. Anyways, I found this interesting seeing as it talks about cost of electricity from different sources, and the tremendous amount of money that is invested in different types of infrastructure. I think we're going to waste a tremendous economic opportunity because of our political leadership here in Texas. The other cool thing I saw recently was using floating solar arrays in Singapore, which sounds like a pretty interesting idea for retention ponds here in the states.
