Marty Martinez was sitting two rows behind the window that was blasted out on the Southwest flight. She said an older woman was sitting in the window seat next to it, and parts of her body were "sucked" toward the hole.

"She wasn't like sucked out of the window or pulled out. But her like arms and her body were sucked, like sucked in that direction, from my vantage point. So you see people, from the back of the seat, holding onto her, you know, trying to keep her contained," Martinez told CNN.

Meanwhile, other passengers were trying to patch the hole in the plane.

"People in the other rows are — just trying to plug the hole, which sounds ridiculous, because you know people are using jackets and things, and it's just being sucked right out," she told CNN.

Meh. I was referring to the MSY diversion. It's not like she got totally sucked out.

but now she's dead. i get that you do this for a living but everytime something negative is posted about an airline, you seem to get hyper defensive. this is a pretty serious happening.

so, my 55 gallon trash bin has gone on walkabout. put it out on monday, came home monday, and it's gone. i have no idea. i've looked up and down the street, but cannot find it.

so, i call the city of austin utilities to report this missing trash bin and to order a replacement. process is fine, then they drop in on me at he end "it's going to take two trash cycles to replace the trash bin."

WAT. "i'm sorry, did you say two trash cycles? so two weeks?"

    "yes."

"uh, what do i do with my trash in that time?"

"set it out with a note that your trash bin is missing."

    WAT

i feel compelled to note that the city did not take two trash cycles to replace my bin - they replaced it yesterday, but i still had to set individual trash bags out on the curb at 6AM.

so, the city came through for me, which is nice.

If I'm asked to leave, I leave.  But I'm white.  If I'm asked to leave, there's no reason for me to think that it's because of racial discrimination.  I'd think "weird, I guess they're strict about their buying policy."  But if two black guys are asked to leave, they might reasonably have a different suspicion.  Especially if there's a white chick nearby who didn't buy anything and wasn't targeted, as has been reported.

Sure, their day will be easier if they just go along with it and leave, but I respect the hell out of them for standing their ground (unless more details come out that reveal something different about their conduct).  Non-violent civil disobedience has done some great things for this country.

this whole thing is pretty plain on its face. this was a confluence event between racial prejudice and cops' ego. at the point when their friend shows, up, the cops should have deescalated the situation. i mean, the black dudes had a story, and that story fucking checked out! at this point the cops go to the manager and say "you really want us to kick these dudes out? they are here to spend money." manager saves face, cops save face, and two innocent people don't have to spend meaningless time in jail cooling their heels for...nothing? on top of all that, how many cops does it take to eject two loiterers? what's the average 911 response in philly?

And this.  The privilege can be waived by publicly discussing the subject matter of the advice.  Hannity may have done so or is doing so right now.  I gotta say, the collective quality of all of the legal advice the Trumpkins have gotten seems to be on par with that of a first year Aggy Law School grad recovering from a traumatic brain injury.

i don't think that the trump people are getting bad advice, exactly. it's just that they are all ignoring it

    MIB isn’t a troll.

well, i don't think he used to be one. i'm not so sure about now. his posting of stupid fucking memes would indicate otherwise. his posting in the pizzagate thread (i must have blocked out his participation, or else i would have sidelined him much more quickly) would indicate otherwise.

Did we present data that is was Assad or Russia that did it? Did we even wait for UN Weapons Inspectors reports?

    Stop being so gullible

to follow your thread, it's entirely possible if it was staged, it was staged by assad and/or russia.

it's not as though assad has played nicely vis-a-vis chemical weapons in the past.

    He’s nowhere near any target.

Whatever he loses in terms of hardware, he gains in added support from Russia and Iran. We knock out a pawn, he’s moving around knights and bishops.

to be fair, assad is the knight or bishop.

The idea that putin never acts impulsively is laughable imo. He is not Machiavelli. Or even Makaveli for that matter

okay, let me be clear. he acts impulsively, yes. but he never acts irrationally impulsively. he is in power at the leisure of a shit-ton of oligarchs. he acts in their interests. the ukraine thing was not only a show of russian geopolitical power, it was an economic move as well.

he puts far more thought into his impulses than we do, even before the impulse in chief became president.

you talking about trump or Putin?

the idea that putin doesn't have a long term strategy is laughable. he doesn't act like a toddler. he acts like the alien in the movie of the same name. he pushes boundaries, and fucks shit up when its clear that he has the upper hand.

^^that and telegraphing it was going to happen and especially not offering safe harbor to the poor innocent civilians are reasons to pillory Trump. But we cannot allow chemical weapons attacks to go unanswered

i agree wholeheartedly with the first two points.

remember when trump criticized obama for telegraphing strikes? yeah. tweet for all occasions.

i'm watching footage on cnn of a missile acting like a ufo

    I feel you. I do.

But remember when we were told that we had to vote against Hillary because she’d just attack folks Willy nilly? It was a good criticism. I think we should follow the constitution.

nah, man, that ship has sailed. congress has capitulated. they did so a LOOOONG time ago.

i agree with you in principle. but in this current political climate, i cannot fault these strikes. i agree with anastasis.
