  1. Got our power back around 4pm today. So excited to see the truck and then a couple hours later, woohoo. People running around like they won the lottery. Feels good man We have a generator arriving Tuesday lol
  2. Have any of y’all been restored without getting text notice of a crew being assigned? Is the info on the outage map being updated as far as whether crew is assigned, eta etc—- I think AE said they’re not updating it because all resources are in the field? Feeling really hopeless in 78757 and dreading going into office without lighting or shower to get ready … not to mention all the morning tasks with dog and getting kid to school. 121 customers in my outage, another 138 one street over
  3. Well I see the city decided an hour ago that we met the threshold to be able to declare an emergency— in order to access FEMA funds and get more statewide help. As if Wheels wouldn’t have discretion to do that regardless?? And Williamson Co declared one on TUESDAY. Interesting shit.
  4. I’m aware… but can’t our new mayor schmooze an actual response from the shithead, who also happens to lives here, like we hired him (Watson) to do? I don’t know, this is obviously more than Austin can handle, the extra crews aren’t enough
  5. Where’s our esteemed governor in all this to get us more outside help for repairs?? All I’ve seen from him is how great the grid is holding up and that people here should report damage. Venal prick.
  6. No power on our side of the street in Crestview (78757) there’s going to be a particular subset of PTSD named for Austin
  7. From what aspect of gender-affirming care is the positive impact on this population coming, in your opinion? Genuine question. Or do you think trans kids about to go through the immutable effects of puberty should not be treated until we have certain high-grade evidence that you deem worthy, against the opinion of endocrinologists, psychiatrists, child development experts, etc? When I see people with no personal experience or expertise on this issue take a stance like this, it comes across like 100+ suicides would just be the price to pay so long as 1 minor doesn't end up regretting treatment, or detransitioning.
  8. It's much better if trans people stay confused, closeted, and stigmatized until late in life or forever, so they have to try to be people they aren't and screw up marriages, families, etc. just like it's always been (and the gays too), instead of having awareness and being allowed to figure it out when they're much younger and can avoid the devastating outcomes that befall untreated trans folks.
  9. I remember when the gorilla escaped and they shot him to death. So all this is making me side eye the Dallas Zoo even more. SMH
  10. well my job's policy is we only get to work from home (in addition to our regular 2 days a week) if AISD cancels for weather. So if the kid ain't home, neither am I. Whomp whomp
  11. Disgusting. So any idiot loser nut can get on SBOE, even if they just got kicked off a school board. Great.
  12. That sucks, as Dave makes the band as much as Perry. I admit I kind of side-eye his health reasons based on his history, but will always give empathy to someone who discovered his mom brutally murdered when he was just a teen.
  13. I've always just found him to be a shallow contrarian and a misogynist. He sucks ass.
  14. Hims just needs some hugs, instead he ostracized for bloody snoot
  15. Jesus Christ is he a fucking whiner. Can't listen to his bullshit voice even if he weren't lying to the public.
  16. I was actually just thinking, never noticed before how penis-like his nose is. Esp. in profile.
  17. So we're all good without any reform of Robin Hood/school funding, and we'll just bleed more money out of public education with voucher nonsense? Cool cool Race to the bottom at hand
  18. True story: Jimmy Johnson bullied Janis Joplin in high school and doesn't regret it.
  19. Touch DNA is a lot less valuable and reliable for identifying a particular person than blood, semen, etc. A good defense attorney can make some hay out of it if it's only touch DNA.
  20. Good for them for getting out. North Texas needs to clean its house in a big way. There should be consequences for the absurd amount of racism in that area -- says me, a former resident who has to visit now and then
  21. No -- chest compressions are critical. It's the breathing into the person that they said you could hold off on somewhat (lots of people don't want to do that part) but my understanding is you really should.
