  1. Are you my friend called Larry? Larry told me that people in the jackin' booths would often take all of their clothes off, every last stitch, before getting down to business. Seems unnecessary. Anyway, Pleasureland carried my favorite title ever, the elegantly simple "Sack Lunch."
  2. Holy shit that article about Ginni Thomas. That whole deal is just outrageous. JFC
  3. Serious comment: get KN94's. No appreciable filtering difference from 95's, they have good fit and coverage, and are just a hell of a lot easier to wear. The shape makes breathability way better. It's been our daily go-to for school and no complaints from my kid. Pro tip: get kid's size, in black, and they don't even look ugly or weird. Obviously check to make sure you don't get counterfeits.
  4. Right--I don't think it matters, it'll go red no matter what. They know that, they've thought it through. Olds and rurals everywhere will be able to get their votes in, in sufficient numbers regardless. What's happening unchecked is catastrophic for the majority of Texans who live in urban/suburban places, in terms of having a representative vote.
  5. Open the photo and look toward the bottom: "Appliances (i.e., toasters)"
  6. The facts at least support prosecuting for an attempt at the offense.
  7. I'm convinced that death and/or incapacitation of Trump and all these minions = our only hope at this point. Feeling very ledgey.
  8. THIS. Congress delegated the power, nothing in the mandate exceeds a reasonable reading of that delegation in light of unprecedented circumstances, and testing allows for a workaround. SCOTUS is going full-on disingenuous in its outcome-determinative analyses. Not saying the liberal wing doesn't do outcome-determinative reasoning, but this gutting of exec action as delegated by Congress is judicial activism that stands in conflict with the principles conservative judges claim to stand for.
  9. Obviously it depends on the statute defining the offense.... but here's a reminder that we sent a lady to prison for "illegal voting" in Texas when she said and presumably believed she was eligible, was offered a provisional ballot to fill out because she wasn't on the rolls, she filled it out, and it was never counted.
  10. It's just nuts to me that we have someone on the Court (in place of RBG, no less) who has said that legal careers are simply a means to an end to building the Kingdom of God. Very impartial, eh
  11. So apparently APH now has an email to which you can report positive home tests: epireporting@austintexas.gov
  12. According to KXAN or something, Austin Public Health has a number to call to report a positive home test. Yeah, you call because apparently this is 1982 or something. Being the good citizen I am, I called to report my son's positive. But they actually don't have that listed as one of the options on the recorded menu, and then whichever button you push, you're just on hold forever and ever. Good work getting good data, everyone.
  13. So many of these I remember. Haven't read from the start, but Togos? South end of campus Guadalupe, they never carded. We went from either not being carded/having fake IDs in the early 90s, to having fake ID's being a terrorism offense 10 years later.... jeez. Same with El Chino's ... we were endlessly fascinated with the half Mexican/half Chinese menu, and even more so with the endless booze supply for the underage. Glad I experienced it and kind of glad that sort of thing has changed for my offspring (do as I say, not as I do if you want to survive). Polar Bear Ashburn's ..... always a stoner hangout. As a 3rd grader in Plano, our teacher took a small group of us there for lunch(?) as a reward or something. I think she was just picking something up...very cool teacher, looked a bit like a young Ann Wilson and had a FILTHY car with Kiss cassettes everywhere. Can you imagine going anywhere in a teacher's car now without express parental permission? By the way, this was probably about 1980 or'81, and the cool teacher's name was Phyllis. To help you understand how old we are.
  14. Because, voting should feel like punishment! (If you live in a city and/or in a certain demographic)
  15. Why should they have to, though, when there are other secure ways to vote?
  16. I tend to agree with your take and with your analogy, but please don't chuck rocks at or near armadillos any more .... that's just mean.
  17. Abbott's prayers are filled with pleas to let the plebes freeze next winter, not this winter. Just one more election cycle, oh Lord. Too CR?
  18. It is very obviously coincidental and not at all purposeful that we get Confederate Heroes' Day in the same week as MLK Day. Very smooth, Texas.
  19. KF94's for the win. A hell of a lot easier to wear all day long than 95's.
  20. Maybe they should re-zone then, because my kid's middle school was built for a capacity of 5-600 back in '55, and now has more than 1200 students.
  21. Wasn't he knee deep in some Ukraine shit? Wasn't he "Congressman 1?" Funny how nothing ever came from that.
  22. Do former US Presidents commonly endorse candidates for office in foreign countries?
  23. It makes me wonder if he know that 6-year-olds can't vote.
