  1. Several articles have said early to mid-winter for ages 5-11. I think that's what Fauci said too. Womp womp. SUCKS
  2. guess those types never heard that their freedoms end where another person's begins...
  3. It's long past fucking time that we act like adults and start imposing some restrictions on what people can do if they've chosen to remain unvaxxed.
  4. Same -- spouse got the J&J and we have a too-young-to-be vaxxed kid about to start middle school amidst Abbott's "no-mask mandates allowed" and no quarantining tomfoolery. Would rather not FAFO when the kid's inevitably exposed.
  5. ......and because they're out of Pfizer 'til September
  6. This cavalier attitude of "go ahead, let your kid under 12 get Covid and they'll be fine" pisses me right the fuck off. Serious illness in kids from it is rare but kids do and WILL die unnecessarily from this -- and more so than from the flu, as pointed out above. Kids' schooling and lives will continue to be disrupted in large part because older people refuse the shot.
  7. Jenner is a POS Kardashian-infected human being. Next up: playing golf with J.K. Rowling
  8. Empirically, that is not shrieking. Anyway here's one w/lovely vocals if you need more calm. I actually like Stevie....point remains there are many others as good
  9. Will Abbot change his edict refusing to let local school districts require masks in schools, with the Delta variant surging and kids under 12 with no way to protect themselves otherwise? Nah
  10. Agree on Alison Moyet -- just an incredible natural talent. She was still a teen when she started with Yaz.
  11. Nope, not saying we should lie at all. I was specifically responding to the arguments the doctor was making in that article.
  12. Yes, Bjork has a great voice, with range and depth. Fight me.
  13. 1. Nobody's forcing anyone. In some cases, there are consequences for refusing the vaccine. 2. No, advising caution in vaxxing young people will sure as fuck not increase trust of the vaccine in older, unvaccinated groups. JFC.
  14. The list is incomplete without consideration of : K.D. Lang -- huge, incomparable talent Bjork (big voice, underrated songwriter/composer who writes for entire orchestra) to a lesser extent but still amazing natural talent: Sinead O'Connor none of these ladies are really eclipsed by Stevie Nicks.
  15. The data showing risk/benefit vastly favors young people in that age group getting vaccinated. Everything you say beyond that is either troll-dom or ignorance.
  16. Yes I remember SRA's!! I feel like you're doing straw-man stuff in talking about video footage. None of that is shown to elementary kids. As it wasn't to us. At any rate, imagine being a little kid of color and hearing about the movement in the 60s and MLK, feeling optimistic, and then being told a man targeted and killed MLK. I'm putting that in juxtaposition with what Karens and Chads are worried about regarding their snowflakes being made to feel bad about themselves.
  17. Right, this question seems to come from someone who's straight and knows no one gay or can't imagine queer folks benefiting from this??
  18. .....and what about transmission to others ... and serving as a host to potential variants. It's never just about the individual
  19. Perhaps... For me in the 70s/80s, I think we were more left to the wolves to learn on our own. Stuff was sanitized but not overtly politicized. Here in Austin, my 1st-grader (at the time) was taught about MLK, including that he was assassinated. According to my son, the one African-American child in the class burst into tears when the teacher told them this. So who does that little girl sue, or beg to give to a Gofundme? Historical facts? Whether taught too soon or not, there is a reckoning with the truth at some point that is more legitimately traumatic to some than others. I think of that moment for that little girl in class and it just kills me.
  20. Wrong thread, Brakeman. Better than MTG though.... Real talk -- I grew up in the 80s and 90s (in terms of social sentience) and shit like this would've gotten you shitcanned as a politician or from any other public role back THEN. It's so incredibly amazing how far we've regressed as a society and culture within the space of the last 5 years. Just blows my mind to contemplate.
  21. Take them and tell them not to mention it. There's no reason why the ex's stupidity should trump your sanity.
  22. I would too, except that his elbows look like they have nipples and that's a big turn-off
  23. Holy Shit. I hadn't read it closely before and thought the Devin Nunes thing was a snarky Twitter reply. Of all the corrupt players in all this, the top 2 I still can't believe haven't been charged with anything are Guiliani and Nunes. They are the polarity in the universe for black guys in hoodies just going about their business.
  24. Spouse asked her doctor today if she should get an MRna shot to boost the J&J shot she got in March. Doc said she's following all this closely but there's not enough information at this point to be able to recommend it, and instead suggested getting antibody-tested to see how robust the response to the shot has been.
