  1. So I come to find out that the instructor of the summer camp my kid will attend for 3 weeks starting next week -- has declined to get vaxxed. My kid has been in his karate program for years and we always knew he's kind of Trumpy. But that's total bullshit. Running a camp with kids too young to get the shot and you're letting yourself be a vector? Unsurprisingly, I've never seen him wear a mask either, despite talking up distancing, safety, and shit. Guess I should talk to him about what safety measures he's doing but it's pretty much too late to try to talk some sense into him. And this is a guy who's damned near lost his business due to the pandemic. And lives with his super-high risk mother (oh she's too high risk to get the shot! Hurr durr). JFC. And my son will need a negative Covid test for us to go on our vacation right after those 3 weeks so I'm kinda pissed.
  2. it's a "movement" all right
  3. Straight up lying while not even keeping a straight face because they know they can get away with it.
  4. This is my Dad. 100% has always been this way and would never vote for a D, no matter what just because of this "low taxes" selfish, short-sighted smokescreen. I have to believe he really digs the racism too, though.
  5. So wait...the article on Manchin says he doesn't even support HR1, period ?? Why didn't he just run as an R to begin with, he's effectively as obstructionist as Moscow Mitch
  6. This shit is why I'm firmly on the ledge now. It's simply unsustainable for a democracy. It's damned near impossible for Democrats to gain or hold the Senate with the shitty white states no one lives in getting as much representation. And this time we did it (I say "we" as those who oppose the party of autocracy), and it was a fucking Herculean effort combined with some luck and Trump's abject stupidity and incompetence. But even then, a majority Senate vote isn't enough for the party who has to overcome every fucking obstacle like Senate, Electoral College, voter suppression, and R gerrymandering that SCOTUS says is all good. And 2 who are "on our side" won't do the one rules thing so that anything can get done by the party that has a massive more amount of popular support than the other party but is likely to lose out next time around due to said institutional obstacles. So what's the point? If D leadership can't or won't whip the Synemas and Manchins in line like Mitch seems quite able to do, we're done. Quite simply done as a democracy.
  7. But what is Manchin's thinking behind using such extreme rhetoric about the filibuster...the kind of inflammatory shit that he won't be able to walk back...unless he truly is a lost cause who won't budge.
  8. Has anyone gotten Synema on record about the commission?? What value is she at all to the D party?
  9. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/republican-sen-tommy-tuberville-says-he-d-rather-be-fishing-or-golfing-before-voting-against-the-capitol-riot-commission/ar-AAKuqYE Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a freshman Alabama Republican, told reporters on Friday that he would rather be fishing or golfing than voting on a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Tuberville, who's held office for just 4.5 months, suggested that senators selflessly legislate on behalf of future generations and could use a break. "We're in the fourth quarter of life," he said. "You know who were doing this for? You." He added, "I'd rather be fishing right now, or golfing." **** Reporter's tweet: Tuberville: “we’re in the fourth quarter of life. You know who were doing this for: you” Points at reporters “I’d rather be fishing right now, or golfing” Says we won’t have the same good life his generation will have.
  10. JFC .... that article really brings it home how laughably disgraceful the Republican party is and how much I really don't want to be here in Texas anymore. R candidate = no dignity, no integrity, no policies. And, will win.
  11. She really looks like the Wicked Witch in Wizard of Oz.
  12. Well, there's this, and a couple other sources the Google got me: https://www.medpagetoday.com/special-reports/exclusives/91696 Pennsylvania Rep. Frank Ryan (R) introduced a bill (H.B. 118) in January that would require abortion providers and facilities to bury and cremate fetal tissue from all abortions and pregnancy losses. The legislation, also known as the Unborn Child Dignity Act, would also effectively mandate the provision of a death certificate for all abortions and pregnancy losses, regardless of gestational age. Currently, death certificates are mandated only for terminations and losses that occur after 16 weeks.
  13. Why would R's need to meet with the mother of someone who died of [NATURAL CAUSES] that coincided with the aftermath of an ordinary tourist visit?
  14. I also enjoyed his take that everyone respected law enforcement before the "2020 Summer of Love." GTFO with that. Typical racist meathead cop, Fox will settle for nothing less.
  15. Are there not any First Amendment issues when it comes to teachers and curriculum? Not being allowed to give certain information (within the bounds of the accepted curriculum) smells like a ban on protected speech, to me. Then again, they make doctors give misinformation to patients regarding risks of abortion, so I guess it's all cool ?
  16. Shoulda hired Fraud Guarantee.
  17. [Republican] Audits to strengthen the public's trust, you say....hmmm. DOES NOT compute [Republican]
  18. The 7th deadly sin should not be Gluttony but Willful Obtusity. I guess it may be "obtuseness" but I like obtusity more.
  19. Maybe I shouldn't have said context to a moron. It's really not even context and certainly not nuance, it's plain fucking meaning. You're not fooling anyone with this idiotic false equivalence.
  20. I think a lot of people took the oversimplification that masks protect others but not ourselves to mean that masks are virtually worthless. Which says a lot.
  21. Uh. WTF. That's what passes for a gotcha from the DT crowd? JJ was literally using the word to call out people who are of the exact same mindset of those who used it just a generation before and would use it now if acceptable. It's called context. JFC. P.S. same people who bitch and moan that rappers can say it but ordinary white folks cain't!
  22. Kids under 12 can't be vaccinated, and they tend to go to school, together. The only protection they have is masks, and the hope that they aren't one of the unlucky ones to get this shit and have a negative outcome. But fuck kids and elementary schools/middle schools, right? Fuck public education altogether, I'm sure is part of the calculus, along with the general desperation of Abbott not to get primaried. So pro-life.
  23. I can't even do 5 mg edibles. Gotta nibble the corners and shit. My brain has always been hyper-sensitive with ingesting psychoactives....but I can smoke up a storm.
  24. They will kindly make an exception to the all-out abortion ban for transgender fetuses.
  25. Counter-counter argument? Shane McGowan ....still alive but...damn
