  1. Menthol cigarette ban helps cartels?
    Um, how?
Well this erodes whatever modest gains I made towards my mentol cigarrete smoking mom maybe not voting straight R.
Not that I had high hopes against such well though arguments as " I just feel that Joe Biden is also corrupt" or whatever Micheal Barry has sold her on. Kinda feels good to move on.

  2. Missing hellish Kansas game for [checks notes] even more hellish outdoor wedding at 5pm wearing a monkey suit
    Username does not check out.

Did Outdoor September wedding work for those other couples?

No, but it just might work for us!

  3. Neat data, but we Houstonians lived it.

I graduated high school that year and I also had a younger brother that attended. It was really awesome getting to see Blood gang fights in person, you guys missed out.
I graduated High School in the early 90s, nawf side holla, and dealt with gang shit my entire life.

Katrina may not have helped, but it's ridiculous to blame refugees entirely.
  4. Unless I misunderstood, the Legal AF folks were saying that in 10 days both parties have to submit three options for receivership, to independently manage the property while preparations for restitution (i.e. state foreclosure and auction) are made after the civil penalties phase of the trial is over; additionally because of the state licensing removal, even if anything is left over after the forced sales (my guess is there won't be), everything will still need to be liquidated.  Bottom line, not only is he done in New York, so are the sons, and everything business related is placed into forced liquidation.  He's always grifted off a shell game of properties, not any more.
Now they also said that given the severity of this judgment, it should be expected that a stay will be granted on this for judicial review.  While waiting some more makes me anxious, I get that.  However, after reviewing the judge's finding, they both expect appeals to be unsuccessful; and that's coming from 2 lawyers with significant experience in New York law.
    How long would appeals take?
  5. A close second reason to hate it is the sloppy cut/paste work under the geezer's chin where it looks as if a signature was erased, or else barely added.
Then you have the uppity liberal with his nose hanging out, and the artist has no idea why that's a problem.
"Dark Agenda" is well thought out also.

  6. I'm sure several posters in this thread urging the end to NOLA also live in Houston, or go to Galveston (which got nuked from orbit) and post this garbage with zero sense of hypocrisy (and I'm from Houston).

Yall might remember Hank but forget about the other Williams boy, Tennessee.

Ugh, as a Palmetto State Armory customer, I'm aware of their politics and don't really mind them but hosting somebody under felony indictment really seems gross.

Also check out Jamin McCallum's super terrible gun safety and handling on display in this video. @Brisketexan what would your father done if he had seen you do this? I know what mine would have done.

My head reflexively twitched watching this, because my pops would have smacked me on my ear hole if I handled a pistol like this.

  8. Last time I looked I10 ran East and West pretty much through the middle of Houston, so I'm not sure that anything on it would be considered north Houston.  Besides none of the good wiggly establishments are on I10 anywhere.
    Your are ze expert, yeah?
  9. I don’t care whether they abandon NOLA or not, but they better not do it before next October because I finally got my daughter tickets to see Taylor Swift and they are for 10/26/24 in NOLA.
If you go with her, bring earplugs. Loudest fucking concert I've ever been to- 80k screaming females the entire time.
  10. I would classify Rage Against the Machine as punk long before any of those bands. Green Day is simple enough to be punk, but I don't think their message has ever been in line with the punk movement. Might as well throw in Rivers Cuomo and Weezer (and I love me some Weezer, but they ain't punk!).
Green day is punk. They came up very DYI and the early stuff was punk enough. The got less punk as they made money, it happens.

  11. Not sure how I missed this thread last month. I can have some pretty strong opinions about music, and I am sure some might see that as gatekeeping, but I really just see them as my opinion. It’s cool if some disagree.

I got to punk/hardcore via classic rock/metal —> 90s alternative (all the Seattle stuff, helmet, quicksand, Orange 9mm, etc —> Rollins Band, and that’s when I dove into Black Flag and Minor Threat. So my perspective is from those bands and similar. For me personally, there is a big difference between Blink 182 and what some may call proto pop punk bands like The Misfits and The Ramones.

On the Lastfm site (which is actually pretty good for finding new bands “that sound like band xyz), this is the top 10 “punk” songs.

    I can’t get behind that.

But punk is far from dead. Like someone said up thread, it’s alive and well in the underground and that’s where it belongs. DIY is still a thing, just looks different.

Also, as a reformed recording engineer, it’s tough for me to get behind punk that is super glossy and perfect. I know that is somewhat absurd, but that’s my shitty opinion.
That whole list isn't punk, it's marginslly pop punk at best. I've often tried to figure out wtf Blink 182 even tried to be and if they were ever sincere or just trolling and it paid off beyond wildest dreams.
