So haven’t been a big part of this thread, but did have a 25 year run of, well, enthusiasm.  Much less frequent with kids and life.  Alcohol filled that void.  But during and post cancer, been struggling with nausea and shitty stomach issues.  And alcohol is kind of a non starter.  Booze may be in my rear view mirror, which is a weird thought.  But you know what helps get through the stomach stuff though? A bit of thc.  So I may be here more often.  If you’ll have me.

Sorry about the cancer, I've definitely brought back some of California's finest medicinal for people with various ailments including cancer over the years. It can be great medicine if targeted correctly. I had an aunt that wouldn't eat during chemo, some low dose gummies and appetite restored. Sleep, anxiety, strains to help depression and low energy. I wish you a speedy recovery. Find what helps you.

Speaking of which, I haven't been to Cali in 4 months, could you mail me some .5 sleep gummies, I'm running low. The safe full of sativa flower my homies leave around isn't my jam unless I want to stay up all night cleaning my house.

  1. HEB is the exception.  At least mine is.  Those people are FAST - my cart is usually ready to roll before the slow ass card machine is done processing my payment.
Are you one of those assholes that waits until every item is scanned before inserting your card?

You can make payment at Heb as soon as the first item is scanned.

  2. Title sums it up. Figured we needed a surly version of this popular subreddit.
    I'll start.
I like my old school chain link fence. Fits my central Austin 'hood and requires zero maintenance. I like the openess of it. It's been there for 60 years and it'll be there until the day my lot is eventually scrapped for a new build.
An out of town developer from Plano is building a spec house behind me. It'll list for around $1.5-2M when complete.  The builder approached me about replacing the fence with a privacy fence at his cost. I said he could buy the rights to replace the fence from me for $10,000.  Normally, you'd solve this dilemma by just building the fence a foot inside of the chain link fence. His problem is that he'd have to put his new fence at least 5 feet from the existing fence because there are four trees in his backyard along the existing fence.  I'm holding my ground. If he comes back to negotiate, the price is going up.
    Am I the asshole?
    I'd give it a shot.

I've done a few projects in Crestview and South Austin where somebody insisted on keeping the chain link and forced the privacy fence to go well inside the new fence owner's lot line. Later they removed the chain link and had a significantly larger backyard And a nice free privacy fence. A couple feet the length of your property on some lots is significant.
  3. A bunch of evangelicals (including Franklin Graham) are not endorsing Trump early on, and waiting to see who wins the primary before deciding if they will endorse the nominee.

Make sure and remind your MAGA relatives that these so-called Christians are turning their backs on Trump.
So it's another data point that I'm a Libtard, (or LiBard or however the fuck they mispell it,) when they eventually endorse him?

  4. Man I hate to do this...
Germany = Texas.  Great place with a great brand and rich history. Wonderful people.  But they're leaving a good (or at least functional) alliance in lieu of a buncha inbred mouth-breathers.  And they'll soon regret it.  Everybody sees it but them.
    ETA
I'd neg rep myself if I could.  My candor is not often welcome i know.
I personally fucking hate the SEC move. The whole thing, Football, Basketball and maybe most of all Baseball. Fuck SEC fans
Piggy And Ags especially. There is no glory even beating them..., and only animal abuse when they manage to win one.

    Ohio kinda sucks excepting Cincy
  5. They sold weed in the drive thru of our local Dairy Queen when I was in high school so all of that hits close to him. The manager was making good money doing it.
Sure until people starting narcing to squares and fucked up the whole system.

  6. just bought my 3rd pair of birkenstocks since the summer.  in brown suede. its like walking on clouds and bunny rabbits are giving your feet a hug.
turns out, when the hippies are onto something, they're *really* onto something.
Had a pair sophomore year of high school.
My son came home one day from his mom's with the exact same style I had back in the day. He's currently a sophomore. Wild man. Wild. I'll wait to buy a pair because then he'd stop wearing his.

  7. I had a fraternity brother in Florida that stole one of those.  He gave away the lighters, used a few, and then converted the spinning case into a towel rack.  It really tied the frat house communal bathroom together.
And they say youth is wasted on the young.

  8. What is this gas stove controversy?  Is it referencing the California law?  Just the newest "they're going to take our hamberders!" screech?
The usual combo of well intentioned public safety advocacy, combined with horrible coverage by MSM and absurd reaction from the right.

There should be more stringent rules regarding safety and proper ventilation. Banning gas stoves is cost prohibitive, especially in middle to lower class homes that do not have 220v circuits for a gas range. That can get pretty expensive especially if the electrical service is already maxed out. Never mind purchasing a new appliance.

  9. You bastards made me visit trewlyorganized.com
The before & after pics of her organizing skills has me convinced she is a lunatic
    Same.

Holy Shit. I've worked with many organizers to get clients moved into to new spaces, and I've never seen shittier work. What a fucking joke. She's not even worth $15 an hour for a track home in Elgin.

Good organizers are worth it. Her website and before and after pics are reason enough to fire beard. This lady ain't running a house fit for Tarrytown or Beard's salary. Yikes.
