  1. Goddammit. I REALLY want that Maverick. Dropped the price to $56,500 today. I'm not quite ready, but I don't know that I can afford to wait.
  2. It depends, but I know I would only want to fish 2 at a time on the skiff. If I take more than that out then the other guys are wading. So what do y'all think of Sabine? What's the most economical option? What kind of price range am I looking at? Can you flounder from a skiff rigged with lights?
  3. Yeah, I'm in a big transition with POC and fishing generally. We're selling our house and I'm going to sell my Pathfinder 2200v this fall. What I want to do when I fish seriously is fly fish from a poling skiff or toss spoons or plastics. But all sight casting from a skiff. The areas I've been fishing most and the areas I like to fish the most are way better fished from a poling skiff than slogging through the mud like I've been doing. I don't go across big open water much, so I'm not that concerned about being able to take chop or stay dry in chop. I run fairly protected routes everywhere I go. I'm sure there would still be times where we don't pole, like if we're fishing for trout over a dropoff at the edge of a flat or something. So we'd just anchor and wade. But that's still something a poling skiff could do. I'm just ready to try something new and this is it.
  4. I've never owned or fished out of a super shallow draft boat or one with a tunnel. We drive to a place and jump out and wade. What are the pros and cons of the tunnel? I don't know what skiffs cost. I've seen some on Boattrader. I guess I'd like to keep it under $50K. Looking hard at Sabine.
  5. Best poling skiff for Texas coast? I fish out of POC.
  6. So previously winning a championship is the only criteria that should be considered when making the lineup? And Maldy is worthless because he's never won a world series? Nah, man. This teams' strength this year has been pitching; specifically starting pitching. Maldy has been the primary catcher and the pitchers we have are very comfortable with him and want him catching. He makes our pitchers better. We've gotten the best record in the AL with Maldy catching. We shouldn't fuck with that recipe too much. We can afford a couple of below average hitters in the lineup if it means our SPs keep doing what they've been doing.
  7. Maldonado's biggest asset is his ability to call games. Pitchers love him for that ability and rave about him. There are no stats for that.
  8. Yeah, I don't know why Dubon hits first when he spells Altuve or why McCormick doesn't play against LHP. That doesn't mean there are no reasons or only bad reasons. We still have, what, 36 games left? That's plenty of games to play our best lineup for a final tuneup before the start of the postseason. They could just nearing the end of this "get yourself right/experimentation" period.
  9. If Dusty is doing all the things he's doing while trying to win every game, then you Dusty haters have a valid point and he should be let go after the season. If, however, there are other reasons for doing what he's doing with the lineup, such as trying give Yuli as many ABs as possible hitting in front of Yordan to fix himself, giving Jake Meyers as many ABs and defensive plays as possible to see where he is truly at after the injury, and on and on and on, then Dusty isn't an idiot and there isn't a good reason to let him go. None of us can know the answer to this question. I tend to think it's the latter, because it doesn't make sense otherwise. Regardless, I'm waiting until the playoffs. Every single one of those games matter a whole lot so you are trying to win every one. If he is still running Jake out to CF and not playing McCormick and shit like that, then I will agree that Dusty is an idiot and needs to go. Until then, I'm going to enjoy this great fucking season.
  10. Surprisingly good, considering the dumb shit I do and the fact that my wife's vag is on the IL.
  11. I've seen a lot of stories on this board where the wives blather on and on, never getting to the point until the very end after ten minutes of useless information. I didn't think my wife did that. Lately, though, I have been noticing that she absolutely does do it. I don't know if I've gotten more impatient or if this is something new with her. Anyway, I decided to say something about it (rookie move, I know). I know it won't help and will only get me in trouble. I tried to bring it up like it was funny. I should have known my humorless wife wouldn't see it in the same lighthearted way. Me: "Sweetie, I've noticed something happening lately when I ask you a question." Her: "Yeah, me too. You stop listening and walk out of the room." Me: "Well, there's a reason for that. See, when I ask you a question like I just did, which was 'Who is going to take Child No. 2 to school when you go back to work?' you started talking about why you were not going to be taking client calls on Zoom in the mornings anymore and telling me about your work schedule throughout the day, etc. and you never actually answered my question." Her: "So you want all of our conversations to be like an interview with one word answers?" (She always takes shit to the most negative extreme.) Me: "No, of course not. Conversation is fine. It's just that when I ask a question I actually do want the answer." Tone.
  12. I didn't "let" her do shit. I advised her not to test the limits and she did it anyway. It's still an open question whether she actually committed fraud. It was a complicated deal because of the way she is paid. I think it is likely that she fucked up some and TWC fucked up some.
  13. He wasn't wrong; that shit just don't pay the bills these days.
  14. Meyers fucking struck out? Jesus.
  15. Holy shit.
  16. It feels weird having a catcher who can hit.
  17. Did Maton punch himself in the face as he walked off the field? If not, he should have.
  18. Maton might suck a little bit.
  19. Yeah, well, if Dusty wasn't our manager we'd be up at least 15-0 right now.
  20. Nah, man. I have a controlling nature, which I fight every single day. I can't and won't try to control every aspect of everyone's lives around me. People in my orbit, even including my wife, are going to make their mistakes. It's not on me to prevent or fix everything all the fucking time. Instead, I just post and bitch about it here.
  21. I appreciated your civility. I'm not claiming superiority in the objectivity or clarity departments. I may be more circumspect, if anything. That's partly my overt optimism. Maybe that makes me a fool and I should really be cleaning my guns and stocking my bug out bag.
  22. I do that with mixed drinks. Woops.
  23. I'm no Trumpist. I'm the opposite of whatever Trump is. I just try to remain objective so I can see things as clearly as possible and how they really are. I don't think I'm being Polyanna based on what has actually happened and the direction things are going. I guess we'll see.
  24. Political expedience or self interest or both. Anything but what they should be doing - adhering the will of the people and doing what's right for the country. Maybe we need to only employ people in Congress who have taken a vow of poverty. Sort of like how they used to have eunuchs guard the women's quarters in ancient China.
