That game was an asswhoopin.
L’ville didn’t like it much. Tech seemed a bit disappointed the Cards kinda lay there and took it.
4:1
57 points allowed to #11 offense. Thats coaching and buy in.

Maybe the half court prayer goes down this time for Butler.

Nice win. Much needed win. Louisville got frustrated late, but I think the constant defensive pressure of 10 on 7 finally broke them down. Nice to finally get the shots to go down. Ought to be a fun ride

Yeah, last year was the best season in Tech’s history. This season, I want to see Beard mold these guys into a much, much younger team. I don’t mind the quality opponents, as it will help later.
It didn’t necessarily ‘click’ for Owens or Mooney last year until January or so...
Lots of work to still put in. Gonna be fun to watch...
I think comparing Beard teams from year to year is going to be interesting for quite some time. This team has definitely bought in in the moneyball side of things...but now they also are getting opponents very best game.

Tech is about 2-3 years from being a perennial power. I say that because they have to build the old and young depth. Right now they are in a position where it is a rebuild (last year was thought to be one). More talent incoming for 2-3 years means you’ll have great upperclassmen and talented underclasses. Then you have great continuity.
Tech’s culture/process is not built on that goal. But, i get exactly what you are stating and it may end up that way with this particular class of 7 freshmen.
But with transfers and egos and the wind blowing....who knows.

Tech only committed 7 turnovers. For regulation and OT. I saw effort that you normally dont see until March. The buy in from the players into Beard basketball is there. The numbers were there. But like someone else said. Shots did not fall.
Just glad football is over.

Iowa lost to DePaul by 30 at home. What in the actual fuck?
Tech goes to Depaul in a week or so...

Too many Turnovers. Poor shooting. If it werent for the D and rebounding...Still, Im pretty cool with the fight. The claw back.
The youngsters were definitely off their game under the spotlight for the first time.
Iowa has a nice team, and they were pumped to play us. We better get use to it, because this is what we can expect every night.

Im still trying to understand how a 6’8 300lbs lineman who is ON TOP on the d lineman gets called for tripping? 1st quarter.

Texas Tech, in Lubbock, trailed Long Island University 42-41 at the half as the visitors hit a wild three at the buzzer. Then Texas Tech remembered that they are Texas Tech and not Texas State or West Virginia Tech and outscored the Sharks (nee, Blackbirds) 56-24 in the second half. Freshman Jahmi'us Ramsey scored 27
I was glued to the tv. (And my Modelos😎)
Tech did not play bad the first half. Turnovers were even and Tech had the rebounding edge. I thought we were fine despite all the shots going in for LIU. Tech briefly switched to 3/4 trap 3-2 zone. Then to begin the 2nd they went to a half court trap/man. Then just went back to man up standard.
Honestly I think the wave after wave of fresh legs Tech is doing this season is the real tell. Were just wearing undermanned teams that only go 7-8 deep. They crashed with 16 minutes to go and the lead ballooned.

UNLV to Texas Tech transfer, Joel Ntambwe, was denied his appeal to become eligible immediately.
Im all thumbs on this. Im not going to pretend outrage. I got no clue on what determines a denial. Is it case by case or academics or circumstance? Id like to know in general.

Tenn St hung in the game for 30 min with Tech. Field shooting was awful for Tech, defense was not. Tech won at the FT line by being extremely aggressive on offensive end. 32/38 points at the line. Im sure that this wasnt the “plan” but it ended up that way with early foul trouble.
After Sundays homegame, Tech’s season gets interesting.

Samspson is another one, got rawdogged @IU but won @OU and doing a damn good job @UH.
Sampsons teams play to their maximum. I think he was one player away from FF at UH these last 2 seasons. Can say the same about his OU teams.

I thought the turnout in Midland was better than expected. I watched it on the Tech TV feed streaming...which was awesome because no commercials. Timeouts were silent on commentary and just arena shots/noise. Much appreciated.
Offensively, Tech looked great but HBU was not interested in playing defense. Opposing staffs are going to pull their hair out prepping against Tech. Turnovers were high, but assists and rebounding...AND shooting percentage. Again, all this gets real in Big 12 play. Which again ought to be solid.
OSU looking much better from what i saw tonight. Texas fans may not be on board with their guys yet, but Im betting that they are in the mix at the end. Beating Purdue on the road is the tits.

Solid W for Tech. Such a young team, but with some serious raw talent.
Defense was great. Played everyone again throughout the game. Ought to be a fun year.

Also, not Big 12, but involving former Big 12 on multiple levels, this little slice of athletic eroticism happened last night.

Got outrebounded by 20 at home and shot below 30%. That is bad.

Phew. This Tech team may be very young but the talent upgrade is real.
This group seems like they are soaking up the coaching like a sponge. Honestly, I am surprised at how they defended and rebounded. Played everyone at all times during the game and the Defense never seemed to wane.
Lubbock and the students certainly showed up. Like to see that.

IDK, you say you got nothing to gain..true maybe...but humiliating Missouri in basketball seems like something KU undergrads ought to experience. Amiright?

Slow 24 year old married white boy bowl.

Not worried about this result. Won a nice road game, had a nice home win escape (2 if you are counting Portland). Nothing to freak about, they will learn to finish. Its going to be a fun ride.

Its 9am. You kick at 11am against a school you have a decade of history against. You got no fucking shot at the title game (and its October), and the best you can hope for is a 3rd straight trip to Memphis in December...thats when you pull out the johnson and start the “but our revenues man” circle jerk. The revenues!?!? You argue as if you personally benefit. Pfft. Satisfied you easily get in the stadium to find your seat. Watch the first half, then fuck it lets just go back and drink. Do that 6 times a year for a decade. Unless you are aggy, then you take your asswhoppin standing up.
That must be getting old.
