  1. I don’t know. I don’t rewatch previous games. To me it felt like the defense sucked as much as last years game. Felt like the offense was better until the last 3 possessions. What I do know is that our offense has absolutely no flow to it. I don’t know if it’s the plays called or if it’s the player dropping an easy catch on 3rd down. Or if it’s putting porter in at crunch time. I guess they thought they knew what they would get from him. But he has no big play ability. No speed. There was one of those outside passes that one of our other rbs would have gotten an additional 3 yards and a first down. What I do know is that I was confident we couldn’t put together a 10+ play drive on the last few possessions and that we would need a big yardage play, yet it seemed like we called methodical plays. And this is after abandoning the run earlier which was working. Why be methodical at the nd when you abandoned it earlier?
  2. I agree with the statements regarding the system. We all know that Herman/meyer run the shit out of the qb. We all know if Sam is the qb then run him. With the plan we executed today we may as well have gone with Shane. I understand we have several coaches providing input on our game plan and the next play, but maybe we need to strip that down to Herman and whoever the hell the real OC is.
  3. This! I’ve said several times today that I just didn’t see any flash outside of a couple of plays. I know there are dudes on this team with serious athleticism, but whatever we’ve been doing doesn’t allow it flourish. Shit we can’t even get it to sprout.
  4. I agree, yet here we are. I just don’t get why he didn’t go out and get several of the best assistants. He brought over most of that coog staff who I think are all pretty inexperienced. We all know that several of these guys won’t be back next year and that’s based off last year. Was this dude hand cuffed in some way from hiring an experienced staff? I think I like a lot about Herman, but he’s inexperienced and I don’t think he has anyone on staff to lean on and learn the ropes. I guess I was hoping Hand could do some of this. It’s hard to lead a group of men.
  5. If you’re going to play Sam then run his ass off. It seems to get him into the game more, I guess. I don’t know the answer, but other than a play or two we looked like we don’t have an elite athlete on this team. Everything just seems like a struggle. Do these dudes even know the offense and defense? That qb they have is slow. What the hell is going to happen when we play a team that has a mobile qb? I’m thinking our coaches are poor at interpreting what this team can grasp.
  6. I won’t write him off just yet. However, it’s clear his band of brothers he brought with him to coach here aren’t up to it. I have no idea how experienced these guys are, but I do remember feeling like this is a young bunch of coaches. It’s clear they have no idea how to prepare for game 1. Hopefully we improve like last year, but at a greater rate. I thought we were a little better than last year on offense. Defense about the same as last years Maryland game. I’ve said it several times in other threads, but I don’t see any athleticism, speed, suddenness. You know, all those characteristics of a good team. Just so boring.
  7. Yea I think this relates to what I said earlier. I did not see a lot of fast, smooth and athletic plays. Both sides of the ball looked like they were manned by just average athletes.
  8. To me it looks like a team that doesn’t understand the schemes. I don’t remember seeing many plays that looked smooth and athletic on either side of the ball.
  9. I missed the first quarter+. I don’t remember seeing either side of the ball play with any speed. Maybe that first td I missed.
  10. If you are going with Sam as your qb then run him. Give him pass/run options.
  11. Get the ball back to the other hash. He can’t roll left and throw.
  12. I get it. You want porter in for blocking I guess? Would have been nice if we had more speed there on those dump offs.
  13. Man I don’t think I’d let Sam drop back. We need to roll him out and give him options.
  14. Wow. I don’t know how you over turn that. But that’s texas football the last 8 years.
  15. I’ve enjoyed Watson. And Sam screws him with a pass behind him.
  16. 90 yards. Going to be tough for this offense to string together 10 + plays. Think we’re going to need a big play.
  17. We made a3rd down stop. Maybe it’s a good sign for how this ends.
