  1. I don't own any message boards, so I couldn't tell you. And if I did I'd hope I wouldn't act like a bitch-made pussy at any random discussion that came up that involved legitimate criticism of or literally just pointed out facts about the performance of "my" school. Maybe you missed it, but Shaggy/Surly has tons of fans from across the conference and even other conferences who have been posting here for like a decade plus. Coming at any non-Texas fan with some circa-2002 message board "smack" like, "get off our board" or "rent free" is just fucking lame as shit. Get over yourself.
  2. Yeah but has acquiring a large amount of talented players been the problem at Texas over the past 13 years? Without taking the time to look, I'm guessing they have had the #1 or #2 recruiting class in the Big 12 that entire time, but has zero Big 12 titles to show for it. NIL essentially allows you to recruit well, both from HS and the portal. You still need a coach who will pick the *right* high-end players and coach them up.
  3. I think someone posted upthread about this, but this is Jay Norvell's second year at CSU - he went 3-9 last year. He also went 3-9 in his first year at Nevada and jumped to 8-5 in his second. I guess they also got a bunch of transfers so they could be better and will probably be a tough challenge for Colorado. If they don't win that game, I think a repeat of a 1-loss season becomes somewhat likely.
  4. I changed my mind...I think I'm going to build a roller coaster instead...
  5. I've seen some version of this mentioned about various teams/programs over the years and I've never understood it. Isn't speed relative? Like doesn't it slow the home team down as well? How does high grass slow down a "fast" team more than it slows down a "slow" team?
  6. Zero Dark Thirty was the first place I remember seeing him... and damn was he brilliant/scary/awesome in that. "I'm not your friend.... I'm gonna break you..."
  7. I honestly don't understand this criticism. I guess I'm easily able to compartmentalize in my mind if I'm watching animated vs. live action and understand that there are going to be inherent differences. The animated shows depict a "heightened reality" that is necessary to make the genre interesting... I mean if animated shows strictly followed "real world" or "in universe" physics, etc., it would be pretty boring... e.g. what would be the point? Just do it live action. In the example of the lightsaber fights, I actually don't think the over-the-top acrobatic shit from the prequels and the animated shows are very interesting, for the most part. The Obi-wan/Qui-gon/Maul battle was pretty interesting because it was the first time we saw something like that in Star Wars, but the rest are either way over the top or devoid of emotion. The best and most interesting lightsaber fights in the entire history of Star Wars are the two Luke/Vader fights and they are hardly the high-flying acrobatic shit we see in the animated series or prequels and the stuff that has come after it.
  8. Yeah good point on K-State... but they do have a conference title. And thank you for the congrats. Again I'm not trying to be a dick - it's just a fact. It's not like that Colt game was 2 years ago. Texas has had plenty of time to get their shit together - it's been 13 years. But facts are facts and they just haven't, which was the whole point of the "relegation" comment, which I didn't bring up, by the way.
  9. LOL you were the one who brought up relegation. Do you understand how it works? National titles from nearly 20 years ago are pretty irrelevant if we are picking the programs that are CURRENTLY the best performing programs. Hell Colorado and Georgia Tech have won national titles. Should they get invited to the SEC? All three of those programs I named have out-performed Texas on the field over the past decade-plus. I'm not trying to be a dick about it, but it's just a plain fact. Again - relegation/promotion isn't about the size of your fan base or accomplishments from 20 or 30 or 40 years ago - it's about how you are performing on the field NOW.
  10. * Red Bull and Tito's guy I'm sure he tossed back a few before that press conference, lol.
  11. Hell yeah you do. It's so good - especially if you grew up with the OT
  12. I didn't think it was filler at all. There were several interesting things going on: New Republic politics - they've done some of this in Mando, but really driving home how the New Republic is fucking up by ignoring threats right in front of their face, e.g. Europe in the 1920s and 1930s. The relationship/training between Ashoka and Sabine is fascinating. It's the first time in Star Wars we've seen the idea that a non-intuitive Force wielder can train to be a Jedi. They keep driving home the fact that Sabine doesn't have any Force "talent." I honestly hope it stays that way... it will go a long way for making long-term Star Wars more interesting if someone besides space wizards can be Jedi; or even if they keep with just the idea that anyone can learn to wield the Force - even in a limited capacity - if they train hard enough; that's a cool idea to explore vs. just what up to this point has been a genetic trait Live action Purgil! I was wondering how they would look in live action and I think they really pulled it off. It really showed how massive (and dangerous) they can be, even to capital ships
  13. Yeah the first episode of this show presumably takes place essentially right after the Ashoka episode of Mando Season 2. I don't recall how much time was supposed to have passed between Mando seasons 2 and 3 so we may or may not be caught up to those events yet. What will be interesting is to see if/when we reach the point where Ashoka goes to visit Luke and Grogu that happened Boba Fett Season 1.
  14. Did you post this from 2009? Because that was the last time you could make the statement that "Texas was an automatic loss" for anyone in this conference with a straight face. Just as a quick reminder, OSU, Baylor, TCU and Kansas State have all won the Big 12 title more recently than Texas has.
  15. (A) I'm implying that making sweeping statements about the quality of teams based on conference affiliation is soft-brained Aggy shit. Texas fans on this very site and its predecessor literally made fun of Aggy for doing this the second they announced they were going to SEC. (B) The fuck this is "relegation" like soccer in the UK. Relegation over there involves being promoted or demoted based on your results ON THE FIELD, not the size of your fan base. If this was truely a promotion/relegation issue, OSU or TCU or Kansas State would be going to the SEC with OU, not Texas.
  16. I'm old enough to remember when we made fun of stupid fucking comments like this on Shaggy/Surly. In fact, I believe it was squarely pointed at Aggy around a decade ago. You're not even in the SEC yet and already going full Aggy. Lulz
  17. Dude he keeps bringing this up over and over again no matter how many times it's shown to be complete bullshit. Best to just ignore and move on.
  18. I mean, it still blows my mind that Turnpike Troubadours sell out arenas and headline festivals. The first few times I saw them were at Mercury Lounge. I remember being all excited when they got big enough to play Cain's. Now they sell out shows at Red Rocks and shit. Unbelievable.
  19. Yep one thing they are really driving home is that Riley really understood that the NBA is about the "stars." Yes, he was the coach, but he was also going to be sure and get the input of the best and most important player on his team vs. the old mentality of "I'm the coach so you do what I say." I'm sure the old guard didn't like that because they saw it as "deferring the players" but Riley saw it as a partnership because they were all professionals trying to win - so you do everything you can to make that happen.
  20. Ha I wasn't wearing any OSU gear, but I did see a few who were. We were sitting just to the left of dead center in that second level of seats above the "floor seating" so normally an ideal spot, sound wise... Avett and TT sounded awesome... Old 97's sound was definitely off.
  21. Yeah all of the OSU twitter bros were fanatically re-tweeting that the other day. Nice comment by Ruhle.
  22. Dude that's awesome. I got a chance to meet Murry after the show the last time I saw Turnpike and Old 97's in Bonner Springs... maybe 2018 or so? I think the bill that night went Old 97's-Turnpike-Jason Isbell, and Murry was just hanging out over there on the left side of the stage by where the concessions and bathrooms after their set just talking to everyone who came up. Super nice dude. And yeah my friends and I were talking about how the Old 97's sounded... it was like the sound mixing was bad... like the vocals were way too loud and the the music wasn't loud enough. Like when Avett Brothers came on it was like the volume went from 7 to 11. I know they have more instruments but damn it was like night and day. Don't know if that was a venue issue or an Old 97's issue, but it was noticeable. And yeah overall that show was so badass. Where were you sitting?
  23. Saw Turnpike Troubadours, Avett Brothers and Old 97’s in Bonner Springs, KS over the weekend. Holy hell what a great show… 3 of my 5 or so favorite bands playing in one show was awesome. And the weather even cooperated… it was like in the mid 70s and perfect.
