  1. Yeah the OAN thing was a stupid self-inflicted wound. It’s not like Gundy isn’t aligned politically with probably 90% of the head coaches in FBS, but yeah I could see him being so caught-up in his own little world that he wouldn’t know that the OAN thing was a political hot potato. Agreed on the second part also. The funny thing about gloom and doom right now is that it’s no different than what was going on during the 2014 season. But then enter Mason Rudolph and all of a sudden things are fine. You’re always a good quarterback away from lots of problems going away. I think if Gundy can land one of the experienced QBs still in the portal and then have either a RS sophomore Rangle or RS freshman Flores go in 2024 this shit show of an injury-riddled season will be a distant memory.
  2. “We’ve been stalled in the middle of the road for a few years now.” Umm… literally 12 months ago we won the Fiesta Bowl capping a 12-win season and finished the season ranked #7. This year’s team likely would have been playing TCU in the Big 12 title game if it wasn’t decimated with injuries.
  3. The season was bad because of an unprecedented amount of injuries decimating the roster. We had 16 of 22 starters miss games this year, including our most important player by far (Spencer Sanders) The last game the team played when it was relatively healthy, we lost in double-OT on the road to a team that’s in the CFP… and we had a 2 TD lead on them in the 4th quarter. Even if JUST Spencer Sanders stays healthy this year, even with all of the other injuries, the team is likely 9-3 at worst heading into its bowl game with a shot at another 10-win season. If Gundy gets the right QB in the portal and we stay healthy next year we’ll win 9-10 games again and be in contention for the Big 12 title. Mark it down. (If we don’t get an experienced QB in the portal, it’ll probably be another 7-5 type season.)
  4. Yes. Larry Miller is one of my all-time favorites. He always killed. Loved him as the dad in 10 Things I Hate About You.
  5. And pray tell, what did the DOORMAN say...?
  6. Lady why you so interested in what I'm reading?
  7. The fact that there are literally millions of people living and breathing out there who behave just like this dumb fucking cunt is the exact reason why we, as a collective society, cannot have nice things.
  8. Shit I can’t believe I messed that up. I use that quote (correctly) all the time. Can’t believe I posted it incorrectly…
  9. This feels like the MS Paint version of Jade’s chili.
  10. I can’t listen to a man sing a song…
  11. LOL perfect. My man is definitely the type of guy who would D.E.N.N.I.S. someone...
  12. Gyllenhaal hasn’t done a ton of note lately, but there was a stretch where he was pretty damn amazing. Donnie Darko, The Good Girl, Brokeback Mountain, Jarhead, Zodiac, End of Watch, Nightcrawler, etc.
  13. LOL. Needs 100% more slurry on top though.
  14. Well obviously it wasn't to the extent that they portrayed in "Jerry", but of course Michael Richards is notoriously a little grouchy and apparently Larry David really was trying to give him a few performance tips like what George was doing with "Kramer" and it rubbed Richards the wrong way.
  15. The funny thing about the animosity between George and "Kramer" is that it was based on real-life (early on) tension between Michael Richards and Larry David.
  16. Actually I'm quite comfortable.
  17. Well I don't know that it's down total year-over-year, but it's down (so far) 4Q over 4Q. Since traders are forward-looking the 4Q slowdown has been weighing on the market. China Covid lockdowns and economic slowdowns in Europe and the U.S. are the primary drivers. I'd think that most traders are weighing (a) how much of an impact on demand any further China lockdowns will be (albeit China says they are relaxing some of them) and (b) the impact of continued interest rate hikes and whether or not there is any kind of material economic slowdown in the U.S. or Europe. FWIW, the forecasters I read are generally expecting price to be under pressure in 1H '23 before demand picks back up by 2H '23 and the balances tighten again putting upward pressure on price in 2H '23. But this is oil price we're talking about so...
  18. WoodMac reported 4Q 2022 world oil demand was showing 1.2mm bpd lower year-over-year through the end of November. (Was reported in their December short-term update for clarification)
  19. I don't know if there's a high bust rate so much as there are just A LOT of WRs... you may not be able to find game-changing receivers all the time, but finding guys who can play at that position isn't super difficult just because of the sheer number of guys out there.
  20. Yes that was exactly my point with my last paragraph. The QB position is so hard to get right, even with 4- and 5-star guys, that you will see a lot of poaching/churn at that position. But then again there are always going to be LOTS of QBs in the portal because any QB with skill who sees the writing on the wall that he won't be playing by the time he's a sophomore will be in the portal.
  21. Very well said. Almost all of my OSU friends of the "sky is falling" persuasion have been throwing a collective conniption fit about the portal but the reality is exactly what you laid out. The other thing I think that makes Addison moving from Pitt to USC a bit of an outlier is that USC was previously bad and had a depleted roster that Riley was trying to fill up with the best available talent through the portal. Five years from now, I don't know that there would necessarily be a spot for someone like Addison to move over to USC because Riley is going to have a roster full of 4- and 5-star guys already. Even with the portal, there are still only a certain amount of roster spots to go around, and if bluebloods are brining guys in via the portal, that means that other talented guys with potential to contribute at a "smaller" P5 program are going out the door. The one position of course where this probably will be an issue is quarterback, just because it's so hard to hit on a great QB, even on 4- and 5-star guys. If a "lesser" P5 program finds a diamond in the rough who can clearly play they may not stick around after a freshman or sophomore year because even bluebloods are always looking for their next great QB.
  22. Hmmm is it really a shift to a "different movie" like some of the other examples? Seems to me it's a mob flick through and through, it's just that there is a tonal shift starting with the Billy Batts hit and then a downward spiral from there, culminating with the coke-fueled gun-selling, sauce stirring, helicopter spying day in May 1980. I think the same thing about Boogie Nights, which obviously borrowed heavily from Goodfellas.... there's a tonal shift when Little Bill kills himself at the NYE 1980 party, but it still feels like the same movie through and through.
  23. Made some Italian wedding soup last night. Homemade broth, onion, carrots, garlic, celery, oregano, basil, bay leaf, spinach, orzo pasta, meatballs. Side of some rosemary focaccia dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Boom.
  24. My annual "GO ARMY" post. My Dad and brother are both Army vets. Dad was Army infantry ... was in 'Nam in '68-69 in the shit. My brother graduated from West Point in '99. He served in Kosovo but thankfully didn't have to go to Iraq or Afghanistan. (Lots of his friends did and his best friend from West Point was killed in Falluja.)
  25. George Kliavkoff giving very strong Dan Beebe/Bob Bowlsby vibes.
