  1. Yeah it’s no wonder he ended up being the GOAT. You could see a lot of the same qualities in him that you could see in Michael Jordan. It’s the combination of being a great athlete and then just having a completely obsessive focus/drive to do the next great thing that took him to the next level. You could really see it in that sequence when he was trying to get the 900. He would crash/fall and then just pop up and almost run to the top of the ramp to try again.
  2. Searched for a thread on this but couldn’t find one. It just went up on HBO Max a few days ago. Anyone else watch? I watched the other day. It’s excellent… really shows how hard Tony Hawk has worked over the years and how much abuse his body has taken. There is a bit of overlap with the “Bones Brigade” documentary if you’ve seen that. One thing I didn’t realize was that the “older” pro skaters at the time didn’t like Tony Hawk because his dad was one of the organizers of the events and they though his “big air” style with flipping and stuff was “cheating”, lol.
  3. Hard to say. I worry about the pitching staff. I can’t imagine Waino is going to keep firing out quality starts and beyond him there still really isn’t any kind of ace with Flaherty still on the shelf. But the offense does look salty. If we are still at or near 1st place by June 1 I’ll start to get my hopes up.
  4. The first thing I thought of when I saw this monstrosity was the Co-op statues. My god that was an amazing time on Shaggy.
  5. I been three times in the past several years. Each time we went, we stayed in Golden and took an Uber. It was only like a 15-minute Uber from there so it was easy-peasy. Honestly, the parking situation up there looked like a shit-show that I wouldn’t want to deal with. But I did see a good number of people tailgating.
  6. Yeah they re-shot them for syndication. And yeah the funny thing is when Seinfeld was on Hulu they had the original air versions with the original actor (who also was the same actor who played Clark’s dad in Christmas Vacation), but when then moved over to Netflix they used the syndication version with Jerry Stiller. And yeah, Lawrence Tierney definitely freaked everyone out and they were actually scared of him, lol.
  7. Man I’m jealous of you guys seeing them at Red Rocks. I saw them there in the summer of 2018 with Old 97’s opening for them. It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
  8. So you think I should quit?
  9. Could be, but I don’t think so. It’s not just the wing sweep, it’s flat surface over the intakes. Also, the Super Hornet should have missile stations on the end of the wings, and that plane doesn’t. Also - look how close the missile stations on the left are to the fuselage. On the Hornet they should be further out on the wing. That’s indicative of a Tomcat to me. I’m like 99% sure that’s a Tomcat. I guess we’ll see here in a few months.
  10. I just noticed he's in the backseat of an F-14 here... WTF are Tomcats doing in this movie? I wonder if it's gonna be like a Battlestar Galactia thing where the old Vipers weren't vulnerable to the new Cylons' ability to shut them down remotely? So like there is some new "bad guy" technology that won't work on old Tomcats? Hmmm.
  11. Yeah and it was a hilarious moment in the show, but the "fuck off, kid" line really is the only thing just rings pretty false. I get that Kareem was a cerebral, thoughtful guy who came off aloof and perhaps a bit grouchy, but I'm pretty certain he would never tell a little kid to "fuck off." The rest of it seems very consistent with what I've read and seen about him in that era and he definitely comes off very well, IMO. But still, that line was hilarious.
  12. People need to get over the fact that the cartoons are exaggerated versions of everything. You can't have the live action versions of the characters doing the same thing as the animated characters because it would be "too cartoony" along the lines of what you're talking about above. Live action Ashoka was plenty bad-ass. Just re-watch the cold open of that episode when she was crushing all of the goons. She didn't immediately dispatch the woman with the spear because she was wanting to get information out of her. She was never in danger of "losing."
  13. Pujols hitting .389 with a 1.254 OPS. LOL what year is this????
  14. I understand why they don't like it. Kareem is 100% right in that all of the characters are caricatures of the real people. I think most people here understand that; but most of the public, writ large, will think these are realistic interpretations of how these guys were/are. That would probably be pretty frustrating if you were one of the people who were actually there and involved. But it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the show one bit. I understand that this is a fanciful telling of what really happened, but I'm still loving it.
  15. Yep but don't sleep on the ability of OU and WVU to play spoiler to one (or more) of the contenders. Glad OSU was able to take both of those series. Neither team is great, but both are capable and can bite you if you don't take care of business.
  16. LOL yes. It was in that Dream Team documentary and it was hilarious. "Larrah Burd kept giving me Buudweisa beers.... I never been so hungover in my life..."
  17. Good to get the game one win against WVU. Now we need to get game two and take the series today.
  18. Yeah that was one limited program from a philanthropic program designed to bring specific workers here. It didn't have any material impact and I don't even think it's a thing any more. The Tulsa MSA exceeded 1 million in the 2020 census for an 8%+ population growth from 2010. No, that's not explosive population growth compared with booming Texas cities, but it's good for a mid-sized market like Tulsa that isn't a state capitol (no gov't business) and also doesn't have any kind of military industrial complex cushion to provide a backstop like OKC does. It's purely organic growth of business and industry here.
  19. Yeah I've been very interested in how the pandemic/work-from-anywhere thing would re-shape the workforce (and possibly the country) in the coming years. I'm especially interested living in a mid-sized city like Tulsa that has lost tons of great workers to Houston over the years because that's where most of the great energy jobs were. I work for a large Fortune 500 energy company that is based here, but we have a huge office in Houston also, and the past 6 months have been pretty interesting, in terms of how they are filling jobs. Nothing is formalized yet, but almost every job posted now is flexible on location. And we just announced that our flexible work policy, where you can basically work from home 3 days/week is permanent. Also, a good friend of mine who left Tulsa for St. Louis several years ago for a big-time PR job is now moving back because her firm is letting her work from home 100% of the time. These are also anecdotal examples, but it seems like this whole thing could be good for a place like Tulsa, with a good workforce and a relatively low cost of living, not crowded, no traffic, etc.
  20. How much of the "shedding people" is a handful of mouthy people on Twitter or other social media vs. a real, measurable and material number of people leaving? Seems like mostly the former, tbh.
  21. Yeah and to follow-up on that point, it's going to be more difficult for a state (like Montana) with less industry and less population to move the needle at all on GDP growth; so if they do have a big movement, something significant has happened to move the needle.
  22. Yeah holy shit man. Every month on the forward curve is above $7 through Feb. 2023. Also look at ethane following HH up. 50+cpg through Dec. 2022.
  23. Oh what could have been if Lucasfilm realized what they had in Dave Filoni circa 2014. I know this has been said and lamented many times, but imagine a sequel trilogy with Dave Filoni creating a three-movie story arc and the whole thing run by Faverau. {sigh}
