  1. I'd be surprised if we get Maul. I think this mostly takes place about 10 years before ANH. That confrontation with Maul takes place like maybe 1-2 years before ANH.
  2. More likely gonna end with Obi-Wan taking out everyone/anyone who knows with extreme prejudice.
  3. PUT THIS IN MY VEINS
  4. Looks great. Joel Edgerton looking more like grumpy Uncle Owen from ANH, lol.
  5. LOL yes. And always remember Larry's and Jerry's mantra for the show: "No hugging. No learning."
  6. I just went six to midnight.
  7. Ha yeah I think "quality" is really colored by your own experiences. Nothing will ever compare to the feeling of watching your favorite sport(s) when you were a kid, so (for most people at least) every sport was "better" when they were young. Also - when remembering sports in the past, people only selectively remember the best parts - the best games, the big championship moments, etc. In the NBA 80s example, everyone just talks about the Lakers/Celtics finals... nobody talks about a random Wednesday night game in February 1983 between Sacramento and Milwaukee. There were plenty of bad/unwatchable games in the 80s.... it's just nobody remembers them.
  8. That's definitely an Adam McKay thing. He only directed the first episode, so it will be interesting to see if his particular stylistic choices are carried forward.
  9. I noticed that, too. One interesting note is that the 1979-80 season was the first season of the 3-point line in the NBA.
  10. Also related - So I guess this series caused a huge falling out between Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. Of course the two guys have worked together for years including starting a production company (Gary Sanchez Productions) that produced all of McKay's prestige stuff (The Big Short, Vice, Succession, etc.) So I guess Will Ferrell really wanted to play Jerry Buss, but Michael Shannon was initially cast in the role, and Ferrell was fine with that apparently; however, Shannon left after production started, and McKay re-cast John C. Reilly (who is one of Ferrell's best friends) as Buss but didn't tell Ferrell. McKay made the right call at the end of the day, just crazy that it (apparently) has ended their friendship.
  11. "Fever Dog" slams and goes hard.
  12. Yeah Kareem was a known asshole for quite a while. I haven't read the book, but I've read some articles that talk about the show, and apparently the stuff about West was straight from the book -- he apparently was a total manic lunatic back then. And speaking of the book, I read that the current series is only going to get through the 1979-80 season and even though it was initially billed as a "limited series" there are likely multiple seasons in the works. They are apparently already working on season 2. There is a thought that they will eventually get all the way through the Shaq/Kobe Lakers, based on Pearlman's follow-up book about those years. I can't imagine how difficult it will be to cast Shaq, lol
  13. Man what an impossible question to answer. I may go with 1991-2001. You get all of the great grunge stuff, tons of great hip hop and some early aughts alt-rock, including all of the early alt-country stuff, early Radiohead, etc.
  14. Yeah not would I would expect, but I think he's always solid so looking forward to it.
  15. Really enjoyed the first episode. Yeah Reiley stole the show as Buss. The stuff with Kareem was also great...looking forward to more of him. "Fuck off kid." LOL The casting of the Magic and Kareem was great. Talk about a difficult casting assignment... holy cow. But one episode in I think they nailed it. More great casting head - I believe Jason Segal is playing Paul Westhead and Adrian Brody is Pat Riley.
  16. LOL always. Two easiest bets in the Josh Holiday era: beating OU just about every time; losing mid-week games to ORU just about every time.
  17. I like both UP and Reveal OK. I don't listen to the two full albums that often, but they do have two of my favorite late-career R.E.M. songs - "Daysleeper" and "Imitation of Life."
  18. That's racist bro! I love to racist!
  19. Yeah as a completely casual fan, I don't have any idea what (if any?) of the DC films are supposed to be in the "same universe." It seems they just make one-off Batman films that don't have any connection and I know there were those Justice League films and then also the two Suicide Squad movies and the other Harely Quinn one. I have no idea which are connected and which aren't lol.
  20. Yep. Our non-conference schedule this year is fantastic. In addition to those mentioned, we also have a weekend series at BYU, a home series against Seton Hall and then mid-week games against DBU (2x), ORU (2x), Missouri State, and Wichita State (2x). Yeah the RPI should be quite strong if we take care of business.
  21. Nice couple of wins in the desert. Should be a fun series against Gonzaga this weekend at O'Brate.
  22. I have and I strongly disagree. There's no fucking nipples on the bat suit or gratuitous shots of Batman's ass; there also aren't cheeseball villains prancing around and making stupid jokey jokes all the way through the movie. Everybody calls those first two films "campy" just because they aren't (more or less) grounded in reality like the Nolan films. Here's the thing - they weren't *trying* to be realistic. Burton was trying to make a live action version of a comic book, and he achieved that brilliantly. Some of the VFX don't hold up super well because they were late 80s/early 90s vintage, but otherwise the visual fabric, themes, cinematography, fantastic score and great cast hold up very well in both films. The Schumaker films are candy-coated, campy pieces of shit and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the Burton films. Go re-watch Batman & Robin and then watch Batman Returns right after and tell me if the two are even in the same fucking zip code. They are completely different in almost every way except for the fact that they are both "Batman" films.
  23. Sorry I don't watch stupid videos made by douchebags who weren't born when Burton's Batman films were released.
  24. The hell you say. The Joel Schumacher ones are shit. BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS are great.
