  1. Well shit I just cancelled my HBO too. Hadn't heard a word about The Deuce coming back soon. Might need a quick refresher on where everything is.
  2. Stupid question amnesty: can someone clarify that the Senate vote to release the whistle blower complaint is really a vote for them to receive the complaint that was required by law to go to them directly anyway? Or to the congressional committee or whatever..... The White House isn't supposed to have this right now right? And in turn what is basically an advance notice of the shit storm to come..... Talk about a stacked deck (if I'm understanding this right)
  3. Oh absolutely, you won't have to come back to neg me, you can just do it now, it was a troll for the loll. But if my shit sticks like a $9.95er be sure to POS rep after. Come January silent-and-last-second-commit-season it's my time to shine though.
  4. I'm also being told 4i Princely is taking a volleyball in his backpack to the OU visit. First meeting with that shit-eater Riley he's asking Eaton to set for him then he's gonna launch a fucking missile. Or so I've heard.
  5. I'm being told Evans tried to get back into the group chats but JQJ told him were good with Bijan so that caused the "ready to commit" tweet from Evans. Now everybody's laughing bc it's well known Evans is only committing after having his backup option pulled out from under him. And also we're getting Ringo. Or so I've been told. By sources.
  6. Saw it last night and liked it. It wasn't great, probably not better than a few sci-fi movie of this decade, but an interesting trip/plot. I saw it in IMAX and kinda wish I hadn't paid the $5 premium for it. I feel like the visuals weren't really highlighted in it. I remember seeing Interstellar in IMAX and being floored at just the vastness of space and the visuals of the new worlds (the wave scene). I also saw Gravity for the first time last week on my TV and really wish I'd seen that one in IMAX.
  7. Said this a couple weeks ago and had a friend concur last night, glad others think so. They played a fuckin mix last night, with shitty cuts to the more uptempo parts. The Iowa st game version built up over a long tv timeout iirc, they just played the song and let people sing. We even decided to fuck that up.
  8. I thought he was going to get a pancake for a split second. He got under a DB's pads and did a nice job of locking on to him, just couldn't finish.
  9. Yeah yeah yeah tons of injuries, Green will hurt, but the best player on our defense got a pick tonight and finished the game healthy and well hopefully get one or two safeties back over the bye week so I'm not going to slit my wrists yet.
  10. Collin also had royal football bloodlines and comes from a football family. Epps is a basketball player turned soft TE turned soft WR. He seems to even have little coordination to track a ball in the air. I wonder wtf the coaches were seeing in camp.
  11. Die in a god-damned fire, all of you.
  12. I'm well aware of his ownership history. I'm not convinced that means our AD should be consulting him for his thoughts on who is best to run our college football team. Plenty of successful pro owners STFU and SitTFDown after they hire competent people (GM) to make those decisions for them (Jerry Jones on the other hand...).
  13. I still stand by my opinion that if Charlie'd had David Ash to play out his years, he might have been our coach for an extra couple years. Imagine being convinced that because a guy made a shit-ton of money selling cars we should really value his thoughts on how to best run a college football team. We valued exactly what we should have, his ability to contribute to the program, but there is no reason we should have consulted him on our hire otherwise, especially regarding his intuition on the X's and O's of a game of football. We hired someone who seems to be a much better coach without his "intuition".
  14. It's amazing how old Shane is and still never seemed to put on an ounce of muscle. I understand he's not built like Sam and was never really a big kid, but damn he still looks flimsy. I always hoped he'd put on some weight like Colt did when he was here, I see it never came. But anyway, glad he's doing well, hope he plays at least decent against the best defense he'll probably face this year.
  15. Even in the video those initial interviews are conducted with unsuspecting customers outside of the restaurant with smoke around them. How likely is it that Subway actually hired someone to smoke some brisket and deli-slice it and put it in their hoagie rolls. I doubt they had the pre-packaged shit that they send to their stores there.
  16. There's still people in this thread that continuously say it's egregious to call it "on a run play" (parroting Craig Way), but you watch enough football you understand why it should be called. It's a purposeful foul that exists in the rulebook to make sure defensive linemen aren't cheating to keep their linebackers clean. The problem with that one (if it was the replay they were showing in that youtube video) is that Poona didn't do that shit at all. He had his back turned to the play and was one-on-one with a guard. Usually holding is when the guard is trying to pass the DL and get to the 2nd level, that's not what happened. Anyways, I think this is the game where our defensive line shines. We've faced some spread offenses that weren't really too interested in running the ball, but I think Malc and Graham and Coburn all show off some strength this week and cave some zone run attempts. I'm going to be looking for Coburn in particular.
  17. Point taken, but it hasn't been that long. Keenan Robinson. Emmanuel Acho. Jordan Hicks. (Dare I throw Malik in there). We've had some solid LBs that could move and had instincts in the box, they just come along way too rarely. We gotta hit on some more prospects for sure though. I'm glad somebody else is seeing that Ossai is a liability when we ask him to take steps backwards. His usage there makes him look a bit more like Anthony Wheeler than Gary Johnson. Where he should be playing off the edge closer to the line. It's ironic that a dude with 2 INTs still seems slow in coverage to me though.
  18. I only saw PPG and YPG, but apparently we were better in the S&P advanced whatever. Both did give up less yards and points, for whatever that's worth. Remember the point I was arguing was that you said the "only" hope was the out-talent and out-recruit the modern spread. Iowa State had 1 4-star recruit between 2014 and 2018. TCU, who has a much better defensive reputation, doesn't recruit on our level, yet performs better, or in the same league as us (as in 2017). I don't agree with that "hope". I think it's just flat undercoaching on our campus, especially with our talent.
  19. If this is the case, why is out-recruiting and out-talenting other offenses not a requirement for TCU and Iowa State, who have had better defenses than ours for 3 years running? We play the exact same schedules, and I can't imagine the 3 OOC games are really the complete difference.
  20. Sterns hasn't had an interception since Week 7 of last year. He's not keeping anybody up at night. He earned a rep by picking off TCU's shitty QB Shawn Robinson (who is now at Missouri) twice and got another against Tulsa. He's pretty decent tracking down receivers and tackling in the open field, he closes fast, but he's not Earl Thomas. BJ can be schemed around because you put him into coverage and he's not exactly Quandre Diggs at nickel. Ossai might be the only true difference maker we have right now, Roach could be one, but he's still a bit away from it. These guys are weapons that we can line up in different spots and who **can** make a difference when deployed in different ways, but we do not have a Malco(l)m Brown out there, or even a Hassan Ridgeway. A guy that can single-handedly disrupt an offense's drive with a big play, through sheer effort.
  21. Bumping to add Geto Boys - Still as a real cop shootin' classic. Tom Herman approved, as the Yahoo Sports dude noted it was being blasted in the locker room before the LSU game.
  22. Just to be clear, the whole "it's early in the season at least we know what are weaknesses are!" slant only works if you're confident your coach knows how to and is willing to fix those weaknesses. Last year we got our wake up call week 1. 34 points to Maryland. Then he took Malc out of the ILB spot (what a f'n idea that was) just in time to give up 45 to OU, 38 to Ok St and 42 to WVU. Then 34 to Tech (win) and another 39 to OU in the CG. With seniors galore as DBs. He had been coaching them in the system for a full year + already. How much time are these DBs going to need? I'm not down on this season yet. A strong QB can win you a lot of games, but we're basically OU with less explosive receivers right now. A QB that knows exactly how to run his system and can carry you to a victory, in spite of a defense that will hurt you when it matters. This isn't championship football, it's 4th seed in the playoff football with a 1st-round exit. As a die-hard Longhorn and Texas Ex, I don't cheer on my team for a hope that our ceiling will be OU for the past decade.
  23. I expected this from Cosmi, I think we all did. Kerstetter looked very solid himself Saturday night however. I did not expect that level of play through 2 weeks from him. I wouldn't count Cosmi as gone though. There's still a chance as a RS Sophomore he could stick around for another year.
  24. Only reading the last page of this thread, but man, Connor Williams during his first game last year compared to his first game this year is night/day. He looks like an NFL lineman now. Who knew physical maturation could matter so much in the trenches?
