  1. In the last year he played, #23-30 were worse (the 30 QBs who started the majority of their team's games that year, which is all PFR had), the next year it was #s 24-32 that were worse than him. I don't think this whole cherry-picking QBR thing is showing him as a guy who is 1. "barely" better than Nathan Peterman (QBRs of 13 and 6 the last two years. Thirteen. And. Six.) or 2. A guy not worthy of a backup spot in the NFL. We're comparing him to starting QBs in the NFL in these stats, but the argument is that he's barely better than Nathan Peterman. There's a reason Nathan Peterman's QBR isn't being shown in these stats. Not to mention his top 2 receivers that year were Jeremy Kerley and some guy named Quinton Patton (who hasn't played since 2016). But let's not mention that. Same way we won't mention the 49ers had the worst total and rushing Defense in the league that year while blaming Kaep for a 1-10 record. You could say that QBRs across the board have gone up in 2018, so maybe the game has passed him by, obviously passing has gotten better in the NFL for a multitude of reasons. I suppose that's an argument, but it doesn't address why every other QB in the PFR stats in 2016 still has a job and he doesn't. Statistically speaking. We know why he doesn't have a job.
  2. In a thread full of terrible opinions, this is a special one. Not even putting "about" in front of it can save it.
  3. Y U no like defense? Lol, the "stupid" part was only towards Manny iaz. I always thought his were stupid because he would run those blitzes at the most inopportune times, like against Taysom Hill, who would just run where the blitz wasn't coming from. Or he'd run a blitz with 4 guys standing up, which I really hated because nobody would fire off the ball, they'd all just titty fight with the O-line. I love when Orlando runs blitzes to rattle a guy like Purdy, or even Fromm. The hits definitely give a guy happy feet, but just sending looks can fuck up his brain and I love watching that play out in real time. Nothing quite as satisfying as when a QB is rattled by your team's defense and starts floating/skipping balls, dumping off to RBs or ditching the pocket too soon.
  4. I feel like defense has been going this way for a while. Even Manny Diaz had the "exotic" (stupid) blitzes where he'd overload a side with 4 or 5 guys max. Orlando does it as well, or send 2 backers but then just replaces one or two as a D Lineman drops back. This is pretty much what the Patriots did to Jared Goff too. Sent "blitzes" that really only wound up with 4 or 5 guys rushing and everyone else in coverage. Overload a side or just make it seem like backers are coming from everywhere and they had Goff shitting his pants for 4 boring-ass quarters.
  5. I always liked Anna Hiss, bc one random evening I wound up walking through the basement floor alone and it was creepy as shit, still looked like the 60s. Archery range and empty locker rooms/showers. Anyway, I got an email last week that they are renovating it. I don't know the scope or the plans, but it'd be cool if they made it something students actually use. ................... Oh fuck this, I looked it up and now it will be Anna Hiss's Former Gym Now Filled With Robotics Nerds
  6. NSIAP. Fuck me.
  7. Played an album preview show last night at Antone's. After years of telling myself I'd luck into a small Austin show sooner or later.... Of course it came a month after I paid $60 to see him at ACL Live. Added a keyboard player to the band, sounded really good last night. Also a lot more falsetto, which also sounded great. And since there was some Prince-speak on this thread, I liked this jam:
  8. I saw that fight last night too. Entertaining one. I started pulling for Zepeda after it became clear he was there to win, but I was fine with 115-113 Ramirez. 116-112 was a bit wide. If Zepeda was better conditioned he would've taken that belt, but you could tell his feet weighed a lot more beginning in about round 8 or 9.
  9. Semi-Trivial Things that Make me Surly: Paying $17 for a 2-meat plate at Micklethwait and getting 1 slice of Brisket and 1 slice of Pork Shoulder with two sides scooped into to-go cups the size of which most restaurants would use for ketchup. I've been there before, and was pleased the first time, but yesterday was disappointing.
  10. And then tell us about the Asian food
  11. Good to hear. Think I want to visit this and take my pics in lieu of the Space Needle. The Gum Wall sounds about as appealing as taking picture next to a shit hole however. Was supposed to be boarding a flight this afternoon to Seattle but postponed bc they're getting some snow this weekend. I only have Friday-Sunday to do what I want, and getting snowed in for half of my 3 days (mid-Friday through mid-Saturday) sounded really shitty. Trying again in 3 weeks.
  12. Haven't been to ACL in a few years, I'm not against it, but I haven't felt the need to buy a day pass like I did for Outkast and then Foo Fighters/Tame Impala. It's been a few years. SXSW is my shit though. I think I still have a few good festivals left in me. I'm 31, didn't go to my first until like 24/25, and I've gotten better at it each year. Somewhere in the middle a few years ago I reached a point where I thought I was over it, hanging out with friends chasing free wristbands to drop into all the "scene" parties and get free drinks and shitty food... I just started going by myself and buying the music wristband to get into shows I wanted to get into. If I spend $5 here and there for a beer I probably won't die. I'm looking forward to a few days again this March, there's always someone new to discover, I think the hardest part is just parsing through all the recommendations before the festival starts bc it can be overwhelming looking at the festival guide.
  13. Did he just get sonned by an 18 year old kid?
  14. I went to this at Stubb's on Friday and it was great. I didn't expect such a great live show w/ full band (I saw him last year for a DJ Set, never "live"). The show was about as great as I could have imagined. People were friendly with sharing the extracurriculars, and by the end of the night everybody was dancing (or at least swaying). The funniest thing about the show is that the friend I went with claimed Toro didn't play "his hits"....... while I thought he played every song that I really jam out to of his. Including his 2 hits from his latest album.
  15. I have an online Barclays account and it's the same regulations as my Wells Fargo Savings (tied to my checking), 6 transactions (withdrawals) per month max before fees hit. Only con is it takes 2-3 business days to get to me if I transfer to my checking.
  16. I thought it was a fun fight. Probably along the lines of 117-111 (if you take out the point deduction and knockdowns etc.). Keith looked really good. He's extremely technical and pretty quick. He'll give the top guys hell, that's for sure (Crawford/Spence). That 7th round was fun, I wasn't rooting for Lopez, but I kinda wanted to see the hilarity ensue if he ended it and won a belt. His punches were so slow but he was landing tons of them that round, he just didn't have enough in him to throw more.
  17. This would have been great time to put some distance between us and the Rockets/LAC too. But now they're 5-5 in the last 10 and so are we.
  18. No need when you have access to University systems. The hardest part was just remembering that Bru isn't his real name.
  19. Just gonna drop this little nugget in here: A student [redacted by FERPA] was admitted to the College of Liberal Arts (undeclared) on 1/24 by the Office of Admissions. He (or she) then had an advising bar cleared today. We'll just say I have access to "inside" information.
  20. That has zero to do with Bru and 100% to do with us. Let the photoshop commence. When it happens, of course. In that alternate universe. Because it's not happening until it is or isnt it is it not.
  21. He really has a great con going as a supposedly elite gate keeper. He tastes any power whatsoever and turtles up. He's not a bad counter puncher but still throws pussy ass arm punches like he's an amateur looking to score points. Wish pac would've finished him but oh well.
  22. Ha, I too have played a Spurs Legend's son in rec league basketball. David Robinson, Jr. is nowhere near the "honed" athlete his two brothers are though. Although he could bounce like his dad. Could jump all over the floor and even decent getting to the rim, but never ever wanted him to take a jump shot.
  23. Hook 'em, Shane. Always rooted for you to become more than what you did, but I don't completely blame you for not. You were a mid-4 star guy who should not have had to start as a true freshman, but you did and beat Notre Dame. Hang your hat on that. Should've had the benefit of a redshirt that a healthy program would've given him, should've had a decent QB to learn from that a healthy program would've given him (just think about the type of help he provides Sam, and ask who tf would have given him that his first two years?), should've had a better coach than Shawn fucking Watson to mold him. I think we'll be fine with Thompson as a backup and a true freshman as an emergency backup (where they should be). Rising is going to start somewhere, but so be it, this is the new era of transfer portals.
  24. I ejnoyed the fight. Was rooting for Uzcategui as the underdog, but Plant utilized his handspeed and movement very well in the first half of the fight. Likely he took all 6 first rounds. Figueroa looked good, much better than his older brother Omar. I've been a big Omar fan bc they're from the RGV, but as good as his record is Omar isn't going to go far with that style (no defense). Brandon looked to move around a bit more.
  25. People are starting to notice how tired he is (some Spurs twitter accounts/PtR guys). Get Rudy back, keep us long in the starting 5 and I think we'll be fine. I hated that loss to the Hornets, bc we're in a bit of a soft patch in the schedule right now, where I thought we'd really be able to make a move (LAC isn't playing well and HOU has a rougher patch coming with no Capela), but we were missing two key guys and DDR is getting tired. I'm confident Pop will cut DDR's minutes a bit with Rudy coming back. Let's get it rolling again and get down to 4/5 spot.
