  1. I would need some advanced stats on this. They were 43% of "production" (I'll call it), which means about 21% each, maybe because they were about 1/5 of our viable receiving options each? (Williams, Beasley, Zeke).... that's not some huge ridiculous amount. Dez was our primary receiver, and was notoriously a pretty average (to below average) primary WR. I'd need the advanced stats to show me how much better our offense was when Dez and Witten were the primary targets for the majority of targets during a given drive/quarter/game. Because my untrained "Joe Fan" eyes it had been 2 years already where trying to get Dez involved in the game resulted in the rest of the offense getting off rhythm.
  2. That first video is hilarious. I thought it was a comedy skit.
  3. Garcia-Porter this weekend. 3 years ago, before the rise of Errol Spence, I would've been ecstatic about this fight, but now it only slightly moves the needle. I'll be at the UT game but hoping to catch some of it when I get home. Canelo-GGG is sneaking up quickly too. I'm still riding with Canelo, even though the majority of people seem to have turned on him (probably with reason), but I can't help but want to see the hype behind GGG finally get beaten out. I still say the gameplan should be Ward-Kovalev II.... Go to the body early and often and use your speed to dictate the terms of the fight. A few nut shots won't hurt either. It's not illegal unless it's called.
  4. Really chaps my ass. They get nervous and revert to the same bullshit rather than trusting the past 8 months of practice. Not that it would be hard to believe after his farce of a QB "competition."
  5. I count 5 egregiously missed throws (2 for interceptions. another that Collin didn't block for Duvernay, but the throw was still terrible), time, pocket, he had all but just missed. I also counted two missed check-down opportunities where he tried a throw he didn't make but had Watson for 4-5 yards right in front of him. The difference between 2nd and 5 and 2nd and 10 is monumental from an offensive playcalling standpoint. There's another 2 (to Moore and to Watson) that the worst things about the play weren't his throws but they were still bad (pressure in his face to Moore, Watson fumbled his in the 4th qtr). This doesn't look good. His offense didn't always help him out (a bit of pressure, not last year, but some. Collin not blocking on screens.), but if we're looking for a QB that can elevate the offense when he does get opportunities, this does not bode well.
  6. Is Lil'Jordan a WR? Because if so he is our most talented WR by a mile. Collin is our most physically gifted, and uses his height pretty well, but he is not more talented than LJ.
  7. I had a pretty substantial worry about Omenihu and Hager over the summer. Omenihu has never taken over a game or even over a series, and I was confused why so much stock was being put into his development (he *looks* the part, like Naashon did). Unlike Chris, Hager actually has made a few splash plays during his time at UT, but not enough to warrant me penciling him in as an All-Big 12 pick. He showed the same undisciplined approach on the first drives against the jet sweep that he showed us 2 years ago. Neither of these guys are the 2nd coming of Brian Orakpo, which is understandable, but neither are they the 2nd coming of Sergio Kindle. Ok, 2nd round pick, that's understandable too, but are they the 2nd coming of Jackson Jeffcoat or Alex Okafor at least? No. Them neither. I think we've forgotten what a caliber DE looks like. Boyd is still the exact same headcase he has always been. Davante has always been a solid tackler and lost as shit in coverage. Guess what he showed Saturday? Nothing new. These are the things that disappointed me most. All this talk of development but they looked the exact damn same on the field. Same 'inflatable flailing arm man' act when the ball is in the air, with the head turn always a count too late to avoid the flag. It's bullshit. Pick: We might cover the spread, and I'll be assuaged for a week, but if we lose close to USC again with a valiant effort, we won't be jacking each other off this time, because then MENSA's claims of us not being the same team as last year look even worse.
  8. Beat me to it. WTF is happening in here?
  9. That line about Sasha Vucecic having some sort of self-described competitive advantage after having played Ginobili as a teenager is hilarious. Watch the guy the whole highlight and after every show he makes Vucecic sulks and drops his shoulders. I hated that guy for like 2 postseasons. This one hurts, maybe more than Timmy. Timmy was done, his knees and bounce were gone. Manu had gas in the tank.
  10. IMO weed isn't powerful enough to overcome good parenting, so make sure you are instilling worthwhile values and character that she can use when the tough decisions/situations come. Yeah it relaxes you and lowers your inhibitions a bit, but I've been around plenty of smokers, and weed doesn't make good people any less of good people, but it does put "adventurous" people in spots where that trait can get them in trouble.
  11. Breckyn talks like he is having a conversation with the stoners from the party at the moontower on Dazed & Confused. Martha Washington, man. She was a hip, hip lady.
  12. Damn y'all people lived in a different f'n universe than my friends and I on the same exact campus.
  13. I would think so. I can think of a few that we missed out on, if we count Warren, who is apparently going to make a roster but couldn't put it together here. Dobbins and Ronald whatever at USC come to mind. 2015 was the last time Texas even had 3 RBs in the top 10 players in the state, we don't really produce tons of 5-star RBs period. 2015 had Warren, Jones and Jamabo. 2 of them will play in the league, so that's 1 bust that I see. They're probably the most heralded Rb class in the past 5 years so, yeah.....
  14. I'm leaning this way, too. A good friend of mine--smart, TexasEx, successful in sales, animal rights advocate--is a full on Trump supporter. Several of us were discussing this recently & when confronted with Trump's racist underpinnings she simply replied that his personal failings were not a priority for her. She wants lower taxes/elimination of inheritance tax. That's it. Nothing else matters. I really do respect this. Not in the "let me say I respect both sides' opinions because I'm civil" way, but in the "if you're truly not racist then just admit that your money and greed is more important that your fellow Americans' well-being to you so that I can know exactly why to not respect *you*" way. At least be upfront, I can accept that and move along, because your world-view is of no concern to me at that point.
  15. I've seen him get beat too, but im not close to the worry point yet. Very few guys in the league can handle someone like Geno Atkins.
  16. IMO the character/development were what drove the show past others in its realm (BB). Everybody in Tony's family had a fully fleshed out character and was genuinely interesting (even if AJ was a dickhead), then you can branch out to Uncle Jr., Tony's mom, Tony's sister, and they all have fleshed out characters, and that's before you even get into the Soprano crime "family"... Watching for the 2nd time, I think I'm in S3, Janice just did in Richie Aprile, I haven't seen it in a while, completely forgot that's how he died. Crazy, but also unfulfilling, really wanted to see worse for him.
  17. Absolutely there is. In Houston's 2nd Ward/East-end area I remember eating Rally's every once in a while, and I must have been like 6-7 years old, but I remember a drive-in that might have been Rally's or might have been something else, but we would go there often and get onion rings and those are cool memories. Probably somewhere off Navigation kinda near the ship channel, as we lived off Navigation/Canal.
  18. Yeah that's actually true. I guess an actual shot to start is what I meant.
  19. Maybe he loves the game and just wants to get some real playing time for the first time in his career. He's clearly capable. Maybe he wants a leg up on a grad degree. I'd think the connections he made here are already solidified, he's a graduate and a 4-year player.
  20. Wish it would've worked out for him, but seems like he maxed out on potential. He wasn't ever fast or quick enough to be isolated on an island, but I do think he improved greatly from his RS Freshman year to last year, he actually looked confident and in the right spots last year. Hard to be a RS Senior and see some 18 year olds pass you up though. Let him go get that playing time at another D-I school and enjoy what he worked hard for, being a high-floor/low-ceiling guy that can be dependable. Also, give him credit for opening up the new wave of Houston Lamar guys, he led to Holton, Holton to our 3 new freshmen. Before Bonney it had been since Orakpo.
  21. Ignoring them is what led to people like Miller and Bannon and Sessions all being in Trump's white house with serious influence. Think this argument through a little bit better. Then we can take it to CR.
  22. The buddy that I went with, who was on his 4th visit to CDMX didn't Uber when we got out of the Airport, and I didn't ask bc it was my first time there, he hails an *unmarked* cab that took us a few blocks before he handed us a menu of destinations that said a trip to Roma Norte was going to be like $40. Stupid idea. I realized my friend wasn't as smart nor experienced as he claimed at that moment.
  23. Now what the shit is this?!? You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention....
