  1. You could do a Texas baseball > orange and white game > Spurs playoff game (at a bar) run Saturday if you were so inclined and wanted to die. Wow yesterday evening (Pre-Spurs game) I had thought about the possibility of a Texas Baseball>Orange/White Game>UFC Night trifecta.... but the Spurs just sent me into oblivion. This is going to take some careful planning. Gotta make sure I'm alive for GoT on Sunday night too. Let's go to war. If we get LMA involved early and make him the focus, I say we have a damn good shot.
  2. Terminator is a Minority and Austin born/raised. Went to St. Ed's.
  3. Hemisfair sounds like some real old guy shit, but those 32 oz. beers were still there as of last month when I stayed downtown for a conference. Luckily some things about SA never change (come back Timmy). Put us out of our misery already. And give Lonnie some more minutes please.
  4. I follow her on Instagram and she seems very fun. This seems interesting and I live on the east side. Might just be in.
  5. I saw it yesterday. Good movie, I gave it a B+, but I don't think Larson is the character they want her to be. She might be the first actress I've ever seen be likeable and attractive, but not have charisma somehow. She reminds me of Casey Affleck/Colin Farrell bc they get to do the same emotion (none) in all their roles and then get accolades. I can definitely see the introvert point. It was kinda weird that they have her like 4 smirk scenes and those were supposed to be her charismatic moments. A smirk? Music was cool, surprisingly the only one I felt was gratuitous was Nirvana. I'm a fan of theirs but it didn't seem to be the right scene for that song. I can see where it fits in the grunge-y tone of the movie though (along with the No Doubt, Hole, etc.) Probably won't see it again, unless I really run out of shit on Netflix.
  6. I gave Steely Dan a shot after a Google search led me to give 'Aja' a listen as one of the best records to own on vinyl (after I bought my turntable). I finally found an OG copy a few months ago and now I get the hype. What a great album. I still struggle to describe what makes it great, it's just kind of everything. I spent an hour last night watching live performances/making ofs, etc. of 'Peg' and 'Home at Last'. Black Cow, Deacon Blues, Aja, all great. Gotta try the other albums, I know some of the songs from growing up with classic rock radio.
  7. I guess I have heard that requirement a lot (nickel needing to be physical for the run game). I just don't see him at field corner in all that space against Big 12 receivers. Or maybe I'm being dramatic and not as many are as tall as I imagine, but I'm thinking about the Iowa State types (and LJH and CJ for us) who are 6'3"+ lining up against him.
  8. Jamison gotta put on a few pounds but he could be a Quandre starter kit. Put him at nickel.
  9. Because he's started the first 3 games of the MLS season and has 3 goals and played over 240 minutes total? He seems to be as healthy as he can get.
  10. Freshman year at the dorms we'd have some good battles on NCAA Baseball 2005 on PS2. First Apartment had a shitload of FIFA 2008/2009 Last Apartment included some Rock Band/Guitar Hero and occasional Mario Kart.
  11. Great decision, you'll enjoy it. I flew Interjet direct out of SA and had no problems at all. I'd never flown via Mexican airlines so I had some concerns, but it wasn't much different from a Southwest flight imo. I'd do it again without reservation.
  12. Derrick White has me really, really intrigued. I know it's at home dammit, but you aren't going to get me less excited for briefly moving into the 5 seed after this roller coaster of a season.
  13. But also where do I find that because it looks good as fuck. GTFO after you tell me, rookie.
  14. I think it's the most logical thing, and it makes me 10x more confident driving next to a scooter when it's in the bike lane, bc then I know the rider understand it's not fuckin' 'nam out here and is trying to follow some kind of order. Off Topic/related: I work on campus and the drive home on Dean Keeton usually has some employees cycling home too (east bound), I swear 90% of these guys are fuckin' pros. They use the lane, use their hand signals if they're switching lanes, look over their shoulder and wait for cars to pass before cutting across traffic, etc. Downtown just seems like it's Mexico City-style free for all.
  15. I live within half a mile from downtown and drive downtown frequently for Uber/Lyft (or myself) and I hate them. They drive stupid and their shit's all regarded. You're right, they are similar to cyclists. But these are the same reason I hate cyclists who don't know wtf they're doing. I actually appreciate when a scooterist uses the bike lane and controls themselves. When they don't, I hope that they diascooterf. There are a significant amount of scooterists who don't know or care about wtf they're doing, thus, the reaction. Honestly I drive under the assumption that all other drivers are idiots, which keeps me safer, so it's not much of a change. But the part that pisses me off is that when you drive a car like an idiot we might dent each other's cars and be in for a headache/$$, ride a bike/scooter like an idiot and the idiot is dead and/or in the hospital and that's a much bigger ordeal. The stakes are higher, so I wish they would use the scooters/bikes with the appropriate amount of discretion, but a lot of times they don't, so I react with my own discretion.
  16. I made a point to see Psych Porn Crumpets on Friday and I wasn't disappointed. My "find" this SX was probably Durand Jones & The Indications. Saw them at Scoot Inn and I was blown away at how good the whole band was. Sounded great. I was at White Denim at Hotel Vegas as well, they were good, I'd listen again. Had never seen Broken Social Scene before, they were cool but probably not my cup of indie tea.
  17. Y U no like defense? Lol, the "stupid" part was only towards Manny iaz. I always thought his were stupid because he would run those blitzes at the most inopportune times, like against Taysom Hill, who would just run where the blitz wasn't coming from. Or he'd run a blitz with 4 guys standing up, which I really hated because nobody would fire off the ball, they'd all just titty fight with the O-line. I love when Orlando runs blitzes to rattle a guy like Purdy, or even Fromm. The hits definitely give a guy happy feet, but just sending looks can fuck up his brain and I love watching that play out in real time. Nothing quite as satisfying as when a QB is rattled by your team's defense and starts floating/skipping balls, dumping off to RBs or ditching the pocket too soon.
  18. I feel like defense has been going this way for a while. Even Manny Diaz had the "exotic" (stupid) blitzes where he'd overload a side with 4 or 5 guys max. Orlando does it as well, or send 2 backers but then just replaces one or two as a D Lineman drops back. This is pretty much what the Patriots did to Jared Goff too. Sent "blitzes" that really only wound up with 4 or 5 guys rushing and everyone else in coverage. Overload a side or just make it seem like backers are coming from everywhere and they had Goff shitting his pants for 4 boring-ass quarters.
  19. I always liked Anna Hiss, bc one random evening I wound up walking through the basement floor alone and it was creepy as shit, still looked like the 60s. Archery range and empty locker rooms/showers. Anyway, I got an email last week that they are renovating it. I don't know the scope or the plans, but it'd be cool if they made it something students actually use. ................... Oh fuck this, I looked it up and now it will be Anna Hiss's Former Gym Now Filled With Robotics Nerds
  20. NSIAP. Fuck me.
  21. Played an album preview show last night at Antone's. After years of telling myself I'd luck into a small Austin show sooner or later.... Of course it came a month after I paid $60 to see him at ACL Live. Added a keyboard player to the band, sounded really good last night. Also a lot more falsetto, which also sounded great. And since there was some Prince-speak on this thread, I liked this jam:
  22. I saw that fight last night too. Entertaining one. I started pulling for Zepeda after it became clear he was there to win, but I was fine with 115-113 Ramirez. 116-112 was a bit wide. If Zepeda was better conditioned he would've taken that belt, but you could tell his feet weighed a lot more beginning in about round 8 or 9.
  23. Semi-Trivial Things that Make me Surly: Paying $17 for a 2-meat plate at Micklethwait and getting 1 slice of Brisket and 1 slice of Pork Shoulder with two sides scooped into to-go cups the size of which most restaurants would use for ketchup. I've been there before, and was pleased the first time, but yesterday was disappointing.
  24. And then tell us about the Asian food
  25. Good to hear. Think I want to visit this and take my pics in lieu of the Space Needle. The Gum Wall sounds about as appealing as taking picture next to a shit hole however. Was supposed to be boarding a flight this afternoon to Seattle but postponed bc they're getting some snow this weekend. I only have Friday-Sunday to do what I want, and getting snowed in for half of my 3 days (mid-Friday through mid-Saturday) sounded really shitty. Trying again in 3 weeks.
