  1. I liked it. Didn't love it, and thought the story got flimsy at points, but it was great to look at and escape to that setting for a bit, and the plot was fine enough for a movie that didn't drag on for 2.5 hours or more. I had no idea who the director was, but at different points I thought "oh this looks just like (the newer Terminator movies), (Apocalypse Now), (Rogue One)".... then turns out he's the Rogue One guy. I guess I didn't even hate that he borrowed so many looks from other movies and other sci-fi, it was still pretty decent.
  2. I think I read this on twitter too. I like the versatility if he's going to be a defensive stopper against the 2nd teams. I feel like Sochan will be used along with the bench a lot, so if Wesley can step up and help slow down whoever the opponent's sparkplug off the bench is, it'll make us a lot stronger. Looking forward to Friday and see if Wemby gets above 20 minutes. And Sir'Jabari too.
  3. Charlo disappointed me. His brother would have probably fared worse. Now I'm not going to be able to hear them speak about lions and run that whole "chip on the shoulder" mentality as anything other than 100% bluff. Hope Crawford shuns him for that fight too. He doesn't deserve to be rewarded after that heartless performance. If he doesn't take on Tszyu, then he has no dance partner left really. Still don't like Benavidez for Canelo. I see him being too big and long like Bivol was. Canelo is just strong, and looks natural at 168, but honestly doesn't belong fighting big 168ers. He's not tall or long enough.
  4. She is 999% in my wheelhouse.
  5. Oh and Devery Jacobs is 1000% in my wheelhouse.
  6. Pretty much this. Surprised a bit at how everybody has some direction now that I think about it, and it was a pretty solid ending to include some passing of the cultural torch. Cheese and Willie Jack become elders and ease the transition. Elora found an outer calling. Bear is too much of a personality to stay too long too, maybe he and the gf spread their wings. Very enjoyable show from season 1, this will go down as one of my favorites. Maybe not Top 3-5 status, but enough for me to mention it and think of it if someone asks my favorite shows.
  7. There's not enough comparisons on this thread so I'm going to say he reminds me a lot of Joe Bergeron.
  8. I never would've thought that 2 years later both them fools would be JAGs at SMU and here's Brooks grabbing the lead back job by the horns. He runs strong and with balance, I really like watching him. I know Sark is super high on CJ (and his pedigree speaks for itself being a 5 star), but watching Brooks during the Alabama and Wyoming games made me a believer. If its not there, he'll put his head down and fight for 2-3. But you give him daylight and he'll turn it into a huge chunk.
  9. Grant Pinkerton tweeted CDC on Wednesday or Thursday about playing "If you're gonna play in Texas" so that our crowd could try and copy Alabama's state song shtick in Tuscaloosa, and lo and behold, that was played during the game. So CDC definitely uses Twitter/X a lot for feed back. It would be lot better to reach him there than getting this thread to 5 pages. Idk how I feel about that song. I understand Texas is Texas, but my Texas is a little less that Texas, and not sure I want to copy Alabama or West Virginia or whoever else's "southern good ol boy" themed singalong. No offense to John Denver, I get it's a classic.
  10. Were you in 31? There were some pussies behind me looking for attention all damn game and then quietly exited without a peep at the beginning of the 4th. They didn't say a damn thing to me or the other 6 foot tall Longhorn standing right in front of them (except for the drunkest making chit chat at halftime asking when I thought we'd win another championship "I'm not talking shit, just wondering what your fans think"), but kept starting shit with another 5'5" longhorn down their aisle. Making Fuck Texas comments all game, SEC comments. Just to fucking quit early in the 4th. You can be human trash, but to be human trash AND a bad fan after following your team halfway across the country? Fuck outta here. There was a group of 10 40s/50s a few rows in front of us that seemed to be just fine. Kept to themselves and stayed and chilled for the whole game, but the single dudes were mostly yokels.
  11. I wondered about that play a bit, but on 3rd watch, I see the pretty egregious block in the back to spring him free for the endzone. That corner had broken down and was ready to stop him, and they just let the block in the back go. That same drive there was a pretty bad hold on the right tackle that they let go too (during a Milroe big completion). It was a shit drive to keep the game interesting.
  12. What a fucking feeling. Cheers boys... So proud of Quinn reaching another level. So proud of this O-line and their performance overall tonight. The D-Line gave up a lot of yards rushing but never broke, never gave up the big one like they did last year, and by the end of the game both they and the O-Line proved themselves to be true Dogs in the trenches. Did what had to be done.
  13. Horns up for real beef fajitas dammit!
  14. Nothing like a kick in the dick to wake you up before market open. EOSE at 2.52 now.
  15. I like this guy. Haven't listened to much country since my dad's 90s cassette tapes in his Dodge pickup, but I've looked around a bit more int he past 5 years or so and run into Sturgill, Parker McCollum, and now Zach Bryan. I enjoy it, good songwriting and less nostalgia peddling. The first few times I heard him it did strike me how much he sounded like Tyler Childers. I hear it less so now. Not sure I'd pay arena prices to go see him, but we'll see what rolls around in San Antonio.
  16. Between Ford, Catalon, Barron, Thompson (and even Muhammad after seeing him last week), I'm not scared of a running QB this year. I think we are well equipped to handle it. These guys re not scared to tackle, and I think being aggressive in closing down lanes quick is most important to stopping a scrambler.
  17. This is why I don't get the first-round grades from so many, despite him not having cleaned up some very important parts of playing the QB position. The angles and release and all that is great, but that's not nearly important as being able to read a defense and get to the 2nd or 3rd read, pocket presence, timing, etc. Not to mention the deep ball, that's a huge red flag for an NFL QB. And I feel like a lot of our fans are pushing him out the door to start the Arch train, but what if he doesn't get a first-round grade? Does he go higher than Caleb Williams (lol), Drake Maye? What about Penix from Wa. If he's looking at a 2nd or 3rd round grade why isn't he coming back next year?
  18. This shit made my blood boil. A slick-talking con artist isn't special, but I guess telling people what they want go hear is always a great bet (ask looch). It's just the worst that he did it to 18-20 year olds. What a POS.
  19. Amen. I was really digging the 70s hippie look, but I'm sure she pulls off anything. Those glasses did her well. I just went back to read the Rolling Stone review of this episode and catch up on who was who. I only caught Brownie (obvs the accent gave that away), but making the connections made this episode a lot better to me. It's definitely a show about the gang, but it's also a show about the Rez how it affects those within the boundaries. Putting the gang's situations into a deeper context and into perspective that their issues are very similar to those that came before them. I'm with it. Bear's experiences with the supernatural are kind of weird though. I'm not sure the point of having Bear face a "will he won't he turn into Maximus" situation.... but maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture.
  20. Seatgeek showing tons of tickets under $40 tonight. Couldn't get in the door for that a couple months ago.
  21. Picked up a bottle of Garrison Brothers and Mijenta tequila for about $90 earlier. Was the last bottle of mijenta. Went in looking for Lalo but I guess the word is out on it already, the guy in front of me asked about it and they said they'd already sold out. I got the last bottle of mijenta. Been wanting to try Garrison for years, figured $57 was a decent price to try it while listening to the new Zach Bryan album tonight.
  22. I'll take the bait. We come across as arrogant because the truth just sounds like that. A very large portion of our students don't really care or know about the tradition of Texas football. They take their admission because they're Top 6%-7% and know that UT is the most competitive and best academic public school in the state. And the fact that they come to UT renews the academic prestige each year. So it is what it is; I accept the tradeoff. If they were talking to a student then sure they might not have any idea what "home and home" means in NCAA football speak. We have plenty of real Texas football fans too, he could've shown up to the Surly tailgate and seen a completely different type of fan and left with a completely different opinion on Texas fans. (softball toss to what that might be)
  23. *was. "Was" the weak link. And we can get further into semantics and I'd agree that this year they will be the weak link compared to our tackles, but, imo, O-line performance can be improved greatly by experience and time (to get stronger). Especially compared to D-line, where a young guy can get playing time by just being able to fuck shit up, O-linemen need to know wtf they're doing and need to be able to execute technically against guys that are oftentimes as big or bigger than them. Only experience and mass can improve that. Getting those two young guards (and even Majors) back could be a blessing this year. They'll be bigger, stronger, and smarter.
  24. I felt like this fight was over somewhere in the 4th-5th round when it became clear that Bud was better than Spence on the inside too. Errol has a pretty rigid style and not many counter-attacks to work with (which was said by a few better boxing brains than me before the fight), and it made the difference. He tries to smother his opponents but Bud was hurting him with short shots on the inside too and Spence would have to reset and get space again. Crawford is a damn bully in the ring, his style just doesn't make him seem like it. Great night. We got to witness greatness, wish the fight was better but damn it's hard not to be ecstatic over witnessing a coronation of an ATG.
