Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Until now I didn't have hard evidence, but now there's no convincing me otherwise: the NFL is just as corrupt as the NBA and the SEC, and they want to be in bed with the money handlers at TU. Yeah, I'm sure it's PURE coincidence the NFL draft worked out for Green Bay to conveniently land Golden, just as Texas is recruiting Finley. Everyone knows Finley's top choice is Notre Dame, a midwest school with genuine Catholic, American values. No shock the Sips are calling all their friends (including Goodell) to trick Finley into abandoning his first love and following the skank down the street. She will chew you up and spit you out, my man. This is personal for me. I've been a loyal NFL combine and NFL draft watcher since my great uncle Terry put me up on his shoulders so I could watch John Roper run drills at the 1989 combine. But what I saw this year sickened me, and I had no choice but to take a deep breath, gently turn off the TV, and find something more deserving of my hard earned time and money. NFL is never getting another DIME from me. The free marketing for the TU defensive end -- a 4th round pick! -- as he walked to the podium and bear hugged by Goodell (or should I say, Bad-ell). What other 4th round pick IN THE HISTORY OF THE DRAFT got the red carpet treatment? /texags

2025 S Jonah Williams
I haven't watched his at bats but the stats after 13 ABs give the impression Jonah Williams is not overwhelmed by the step up in competition. 0.563 OBP and 2-2 in stolen base attempts.

Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
"Now how in the hell are we supposed to compete with that guy!?" he exclaimed just as Parker Livingstone plucked the ball from the air and double toe-tapped in bounds for a scrimmage ending touchdown.

Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
I want to believe, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. It's rare to hear about the QB igniting energy AND buzz in spring workouts. Energy, yes, any D1 starting QB should inspire energy around practice. But buzz doesn't just grow on trees. Buzz being ignited this early in the calendar is a very good sign.

Seven Win Steve Rides Again!
Robison is right, but even that group had a few stinky wins, too. They played down to their opponents more than once in that golden era. In 2004 VY had to pull a rocket out of his ass and then get a big assist from Tony Jeffrey to barely win against Kansas to keep that season alive. Yesterday was another ugly win with glaring concerns on both sides of the ball. Depending on Ewers' status, I'm not sure if I'm more worried about the disappearing offense or the disappearing Watts-less secondary. Anyway, on to face a team full of married 26 year olds. On the bright side, the ball carriers looked pretty nice. I loved seeing Baxter in limited touches. He looked like he's feeling really good, more decisive and faster than in earlier games. I assume he's healing from the lingering injury. Texas will have to get the best out of him alongside Brooks. Red is maybe completely out of the doghouse, and you know what they say, you can take the dog out of the house, but you can't keep the dog out of the house.

And if fruitless self-flagellation is all you're here for, then, by Jove, you've come to the right place.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
Great weekend so far. Thank you to the posters who provide frequent updates on players, CBs, etc. on this and the other recruiting threads. Looks like Texas has made a significant shift in its "OV hotel room swag" game. Whereas too-large-to-eat cookie cakes and (IIRC, during the Strong era) football-shaped cake were fashionable for many years, candy assortments now dominate the recruiting hotel room sweet tooth landscape. The RB combo of Gibson and Clark is pretty wild. Clark would be a centerpiece recruit at a lot of schools. That dude can slip and slide. And to think both RBs committed in spite of Baxter's karaoke performance!

We're Going Bowling!!!
With his frame and height, it's a shame the coaches haven't sat him down already to explain that his best position is strong side defensive end. /IanBoyd

According to that 247 report, Ryan Watts measures in at 6'3" and 206 lbs (down three lbs since spring). Impressive dimensions for a corner back, but is anyone else worried that the weight loss might result in his arms getting too long to play the position?

2023 CB Malik Muhammad
That baseball jacket should be the unanimous #1 ranked recruiter on 247. Loving what Marion, Flood, Choice and the others are doing, but that jacket is a closer.

Negative Recruiting Your Own School: The aggy Screenshot Megathread
aggy have been lamenting the post-Arch Longhorn recruiting haul but the silver lining has been their legendary recruiting event, the Pool Party, which is held at a student housing apartment complex. Pool party is scheduled for July 30. A few days ago, aggy realized a ncaa rule prohibits official visits until Sept. 1. The implication is they can't pay for travel, hotels or food for visitors for The Pool Party, which likely means guys who live outside of driving distance won't make it in. The rule has been in place since 2019.

I appreciate the minute by minute updates, but do we really need every line item attributed to a particular person with his full title, as if anyone would give a shit?

Did we ever pinpoint the exact moment at which the tides turned in 2022 recruiting?
