  1. Is the last name of the priest Lawrence? My old priest at St. Michael's was from Austin, and he was known to come from a moneyed family. When he retired he went back to being rather wealthy. The vast majority of catholic priests live in the rectory. Most also have vows of celibacy. There is a hige gap between Cathloics in general and Osteen is the difference between eating Doritos and eating food made by a student of Escoffier. Just complete opposite ends of the spectrum. You might even say Dorito's aren't even remotely healthy.
  2. I don't really know what the breakdown is and can't find the answer, but I accept that most are diocesan rather than members of an order. I think the broader point is still true, in that there is obviously a large difference between how the average catholic priest lives versus Osteen.
  3. That's clever. Did you come up with it all by yourself, or did you have help?
  4. Most priests take a vow of poverty. There are a million more differences if you take the time to learn about them.
  5. You expect Tom Herman to understand all complicated talky talk?
  6. Warren lied for personal benefit. Biden lied for personal benefit. Warren's actually lied quite frequently. Biden leveraged his position for his son's benefit. The commonality is that but Biden and Warren, like the Orange Man, are individuals of poor character.
  7. Bad private schools just go out of business. See: Deion Sanders.
  8. So, Tim Beck still works for Texas? Am I to understand he still works for the football team?
  9. Beef is vegetarian. Cows eat grass. You're just eating the cow, so you're eating grass. Grass that was converting into something that tastes good. Entirely based on plants.
  10. Was visiting the Empire State Building. Long line to get in. Hang out enjoying the view for a while. Finally get out. Had done a lot of walking and was really, really tired, it was hot. I just wanted the first place with some food and a drink. First place I see is Sbarro. I had never been in. Had to have food. I should have known by the smell. It was like going to the buffet in a small town in Texas. Or the taqueria where where nobody cares. I ate the first bite and it was flat out gross. Just insanely bad. How can you fuck up pizza? How does the place even exist? Just astouningly bad. Got damn. #neveragain That's my Sbarro story.
  11. I'm against the death penalty, but I know there is a metric shitton of bullshit out there. My default position is skepticism. So my first question on reading about this was "is the DNA exculpatory?". There's lots of DNA out there. Just like there's lots of terrible news media. Turned out it wasn't. They want clicks, not truth. Truth is too hard for the daily news cycle. The "red pill" or "fake news" thing isn't a left or right thing, it's a truth thing. The media isn't interested in truth, they want clicks. Outrage sells. Most people want a simple world and easy answers. Just go back and look at page 1. Reality doesn't fit into a simple box that makes everything easy to understand.
  12. I think we're going to look back and wish we had missed that last second Kansas field goal.
  13. I literally don't understand. He has all the physical tools. Even for the NFL, he's an above average talent. If I had that, I would not get cut.
