  1. yep. sounded old too. reminded me of Lee Corso trying to get through a two-sentence thought coherently.
  2. Points well taken. Hard to call something universal if it excludes any significant portion of the population. Not sure I agree on the idea of the poor funding it in any meaningful way. It's a shitload of cash to distribute and a large portion will come from a value added tax on the biggest tech companies. Can't imagine the poor will have any tax increase at all as a result of UBI. And I agree on engaging in the conversation - I hope some of these issues are raised on the debate stage.
  3. So the objection is that it doesn't address extreme poverty and I would agree. Those families receiving 2k, 3k, whatever per month in food stamps and housing stipends will be unaffected, but I don't think the point of his UBI is to fix that. I imagine the very poor on the fringes will need more fundamental changes to our education, housing, and prison systems. Real reform that will likely happen only when our current environment of scarcity is less of a factor on people's lives. I think Yang's idea is a great start. He won't win, but starting the conversation and doing so in good faith is what has endeared him to so many people.
  4. Can you elaborate on this? I've heard him say there is no means testing and it's a universal dividend for all above 18. The only catch is for those already receiving govt assistance, in that they won't have the 1K on top of their current govt check. They'll need to choose to stand pat with what they've got or opt in and get the 1k unconditional with no oversight or income verification. And the super rich can check a box and choose to donate their check to a charity.
  5. So, what's the story here? Congress renews the Act for 5 years at a time, and makes the first responders show up in year 4 to inform them that, surprise surprise, their cancer isn't cured yet and they still need health care? seriously wtf?!
  6. Has to be a troll, right? Maybe not from his toddler mind personally, but from someone close to him. Kind of a way to control another news cycle... I dunno, I'm honestly dumbfounded as to how a functioning adult would think people would believe such nonsense.
  7. Fake news. Here's the real one.
  8. Wow, is this actually true? I thought Manafort was in serious debt...
  9. This has been the position of others in the past, but Yang has said that UBI will make up the difference for someone receiving less than $1k in governmental assistance. So anyone getting $1001 would be SOL unless they opted in to UBI and forfeited their previous assistance.
  10. I know jack shit about religion so mea culpa on that one. However, he has stated that he thinks homosexuality is a sin and that he would never attend a gay wedding. Or even a jew/non-jew wedding, apparently that's a sin too. Weird little fellow, he is.
  11. The last 3-4 minutes of that song are genius, IMO. I'll often play "try and find the beat" when the riff around 6:45 kicks in... still haven't found it. But when Danny rolls back in time w/ Adam, it's total eargasm. I don't know shit about time signatures, but I can't imagine that the drums and guitar are playing in the same one during that part of the song.
  12. The optics of this aren't great, but Rubin is too stupid to challenge anything policy related. I can't imagine that interview will be anything but benign. Shapiro is a smart guy (relatively) and an absolute expert at strawmanning, so I'd tell Mayor Pete to be prepared to deflect the nonsense and not lose his cool - Yang did a fantastic job during his conversation. Funny enough, Shapiro thinks both Pete and Rubin are going to burn in hell for their gayness.
  13. Following for information. Anybody have experience with SoFi?
  14. Agree with this. Bernie did great with his town hall amongst a presumably mixed crowd. He kinda set the tone early by telling the fox douches that he'd give fair answers to fair questions because it was clear that they were trying to label him a hypocrite for being a millionaire. And you gotta believe that not all people who watch fox news are full-on trumpists. Wives of trumpist husbands that control the remote, people on a treadmill at a gym, people stuck in front of a tv while visiting their relatives... those are all potential flip voters. The democrats have to prioritize reaching as many voters as possible over trying to punish Fox for their propaganda. At least until the election.
  15. Jalen Green going for the strip instead of tackling low. Hopefully by design, I assume the coaches ask DBs not to attack the knees of the runners. Now the LB who missed first on the other hand....
  16. Silvio: What kind of a man would wear a fur coat? Kramer: well, lots of them.. Silvio: You? Kramer: ...No. Silvio: Then who? Kramer: What about Jerry...
  17. Between Dotard and Mr Conway, I wonder who has a more sexless marriage. If I had to guess, I'd say George because Kellyanne is a walking corpse.
  18. Normally, I'd agree 100%. But Yang's freedom dividend giving everyone $1k per month will spread his name pretty damn fast. He just needs to make the debates, defend his facts/figures against the inevitable scrutiny (smears), have some polls reflect the popularity of his dividend amongst the general population, and find some way to convince the public that he can get enough of Congress to pass the dividend bill. Long shot, yes. But not out of the question. He and Mayor Pete are the ticket of the future, today. IMO.
  19. This is a good Q&A w/ students from Georgetown. His podcast with Sam Harris is also pretty informative, but most of that stuff was also covered on Rogan.
  20. I'm always amazed that such a skinny dude is able to get those massive logs onto his flatbed and mill. Definitely learned a lot about leverage watching his milling videos. And crotch.
  21. Nice work. Is that orange-tinted epoxy?
  22. anybody else see Droopy when Cohen just sits there emotionless? anybody?
  23. these guys are supposed to be the adults in charge... jesus
  24. I don't listen to a lot of his stuff, but I've never heard him that unprepared to respond to criticisms. He had no clue what was coming, and it's about time someone turned the tables on him. Smug prick. And not to go all both sides, but don't all primetime news anchors on cnn, msnbc, fox make millions? I don't think it's a problem unique to fox, all networks prioritize political theater to get us watching for the ad revenue. That's the major reason that independent news on youtube is gaining popularity - all the other stuff is pretty unwatchable.
