Yeah I love that guy. Nonstop.

Front office needs to spend some money for some scoring before this team squanders all of its initial goodwill. Americans like scoring. We like winning. AFC isn’t doing either. Never seen a team so offensively challenged.

I don't intend to ever sit/stand in the supporters section, but I support everything they do and hope they keep doing it. Definitely intend to join Los Verdes and throw some money their way. Would also love to join the Fighting Leslies if anyone knows how to do that - I like the cut of their jib. A drinking club named after a belligerent transvestite seems exactly like the sort of thing an Austin soccer club should have.

"futz around with the ball" seemed to be our primary offensive plan inside the box and it was indeed maddening. These guys are really indecisive, maybe due to a lack of skill, I'm not smart enough to know why but it sure does drive me crazy. They seemed plenty good enough to get themselves into good positions, but couldn't pull the damn trigger at the right time.

I agree. I didn't think it was bad at all. I'm just saying, for my wife, access to a/c is a key driver for attendance if the temp is above 85 degrees. She really shouldn't live in Texas but this is where all of our family is. I didn't want to spend the coin on club seats this year, but may in future years and may for some select games this year, which is why I was curious about the food and beverage situation in the Lexus Club.

Would you mind posting some more info and thoughts on the food/bev situation in the Lexus Lounge? I was already in there for the USWNT game last week, but that was pay as you go. I understand that food, beer and wine is included in your ticket with your AustinFC season tickets. Is that correct? What kind of food was included and any info on the included beer and wine would be appreciated. Thinking of taking my wife to a few games down there during the season (we have season tickets in the Premium Terrace but she has zero tolerance for heat so the availability of A/C is very tempting for her).

As a west sider I represent that comment. Lots of middle aged folks and families. It is what it is. I’m glad the supporters were doing their thing. I cheered and clapped a lot but I’m about 10 years past my pogoing and screaming for two hours straight days.

Hopsquad and Circle will be busiest pregame until at least 5:30 because those are the two main supporters bars. They may clear out some then for the March to the stadium which is happening early because they are marching to the stadium to welcome the team since it’s the first home game. Those two are also closest to the stadium. Can’t go wrong with the other nearby breweries either though. Get there early - traffic will be a mess.

I posted the following on Reddit. Some thoughts on Q2 stadium experience after the watch party Overall a good experience for their first effort. Some random thoughts, good and bad: 1 - The stadium is simply gorgeous. They really did it right. Good airflow too for such a hot day. Seats a bit tight, shoulders touching, but I can live with that for a more intimate stadium environment. 2 - Beer hall is nice but lines too long to stay for a beer pregame. Seemed seriously understaffed. We walked in and walked right back out. They’ll need to work on that. Need more local beer selections. 3 - Beer prices a bit much. $10 for a Michelob Ultra? Come on, that’s just greed. 4 - Great selection of food offerings but need a few more cocktail bars scattered around for folks who don’t drink beer. Definitely need a full bar up on the Premium Terrace. 5 - Need some grills cooking brats, onions, peppers, etc around the stadium. One of my favorite things about Wrigley Field is that smell of stuff cooking and the ambience that it adds. Food stations lacked that vibe - felt a bit too prepackaged which is good for speed but lacks an authentic feel. 6 - Parking in the Grey lot was a total cluster. They apparently oversold it and then just started letting everyone in without checking for parking passes. Fortunately I still found a spot. Need to totally rethink how they handle that lot. 7 - Security and ticket takers all good and lines moved quickly. We’ll see how it works with a full house on Wednesday. 8 - Sound system was a bit murky. Couldn’t hear clearly at times but some of that was due to the sound from the supporters section so that doesn’t bother me. 9 - the gift for the season ticket holders was nice and very much appreciated. 10 - I will not be wearing a scarf to games until October. Saw a few folks with them and they just looked hotter than hell. No way. 11 - did I mention how pretty the stadium is? Would love to hear others thoughts? How were other transportation options especially, since I don’t plan to drive very often.

Heading to my first ever in-stadium watch party in a few hours. Should be interesting. Looks like the supporters groups got in a Twitter war last night with other teams’ SGs who were ridiculing them for their in stadium chant practice. I suspect they’ll be fired up today.
  12. Yeah it was a pleasant surprise after hearing all of the horror stories. We would always leave extra early just in case but it was never an issue.
  13. Returned last night from a 3 night comped stay at Palazzo. Great time, great food, lost some money as usual. In other words, perfectly normal trip for me which is really nice after the last year. A few thoughts: 1 - Crowds are a bit “interesting.” Imagine if the downtown crowds invaded the Strip. Some real shit shows, but didn’t see any major issues though. Hot as hell so didn’t spend much time outside walking. Too many little kids with their parents out too late at night and too many people wearing not enough clothing to cover their very large bodies but you be you, Vegas vacationers! 2 - best dinner of the trip - Carbone. All around fantastic meal. Our whole group raved about it. Highly recommend. Also enjoyed Beauty & Essex and Capital Grille and of course the Saturday brunch at Bouchon was perfect as always. Chica also very good for brunch. We ate really well. 3 - Table limits are pretty high. Lots of lame $25-100 6/5 BJ tables. Saw a 6/4 2-deck BJ table at Venetian but it was a $100/minimum. During the early part of the day you could find some $15 BJ and Craps on the strip but not at night. 4 - decided to go off Strip Saturday afternoon for some low limits gambling and ended up having a blast at Ellis island. Nothing fancy but the dealers were fun, they brew their own beer and everyone was in good spirits. Actually had more fun gambling there than on the strip. Played $5 roulette and $10 Craps and BJ here. 5 - Got to see the US winning goal vs Mexico at the Cosmo sports book. That was fun! 6 - Vegas was packed, as in wall to wall bodies. Felt like a fight weekend. Maybe 10% wearing masks. Some casinos had plastic up between dealers and gamblers, no dividers between gamblers. Otherwise no sign of Covid precautions. Basically normal. Loved it. 7 - didn’t love the asswipes who made two of our group late to Vegas because they had to create problems over the mask mandate and their planes had to return to the gate to let them off. How the heck do people buy tickets to fly and then decide they have to make such a scene that they get kicked off the flight? It’s a couple hours folks! How selfish can you get!?!? Hope it was worth it, assholes! 8 - never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab or Uber, day or night. 9 - Used Presidential limo for rides to and from airport. On time, great service, but man they are hard to get ahold of online or via phone. 10 - second time to see Absinthe. Everyone loved it. Of course it was packed out as well. Very raunchy humor which we loved but not a show for folks who don’t enjoy very off color sexual humor. I would not take my 70-something year old parents but our group in our 20s - 50s had a blast. 11 - Palazzo pool was very busy as was the connected Venetian pool deck. Venetian a bit louder. Got a cabana at Palazzo, enjoyed the peacefulness, and was glad not having to fight the crowds for a spot. Pricey though.
  14. Ate at Carbone last night before Absinthe. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Go there. Strip and casinos were as packed as I’ve ever seen. Seemed busier than March Madness a couple years ago.
  15. I believe that’s already been removed, at least in most places. I’ll be able to confirm this weekend.
  16. I have. Nice if you want a nonsmoking lobby and no casino. Quick walk over to Aria or back route to Cosmopolitan isn’t bad either. Rooms were very nice. Would do again but I can see how some would miss having the casino next door.
  17. Heading to Vegas Friday. Staying at Palazzo. Have reservations for all meals and for a pool day in a cabana. Will report back on the behavior of the poors.

Sorry, just the organized cheer stuff feels Aggy to me. I know it’s not, that’s just my frame of reference. I support it, didn’t mean to be negative.

Watched the match at Lustre Pearl south on Manchaca. Los Verdes are rowdy. A bit aggy for me with their organized cheers but pretty fun actually and some smoking hot Hispanic chicks made for some pleasant diversions. I thought we’d lose 2-0. Not sure I’ve ever been so satisfied with a tie.
  20. Backyard crawfish boil and Austin FC watch party today. Hang by the pool tomorrow. Vegas next Friday. Life is back to normal and I’m loving it.
  21. Yeah it’s really good and I agree - good stuff at Wynn but not quite that level. Went a few years back. They did have a three course fixed price deal that’s fantastic and not that ridiculous if you want to keep the price down. I haven’t been in years but if you want a similar high end meal Picasso is pretty fantastic.
