  1. Just thought I'd join the thread to humble brag and say that my new place in South Austin is about 1/2 mile from Valentinas. Place makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Got damn I'm gonna be a fat fuck.
  2. Looking forward to this in September
  3. As a former right wing Christian (grew up somewhere to the right of Jerry Falwell) with much of my family (at least the older folks) still in that same boat, I tend to agree with @bad_teammate on this. While I appreciate what Pete is saying and really like the guy, it's a no win argument. Every time I try to come up with a religious argument for my family, I ultimately reject it and decide to stay silent because you just can't argue with faith. They believe what they want and and I just can't refute that, no matter how ridiculous or hypocritical I think they're being. Better to stay away from the faith based arguments and stick to facts, science and reality. It's the winning argument in the long run.
  4. Love ABGB for beer and hanging out, but I feel this way about their food. Maybe I'm the only one, but I think their pizza absolutely sucks ass and have yet to eat anything there that I absolutely loved.
  5. I just sent a Mayor Pete text around to my pretty liberal immediate family and my son surprised me by saying that his best buddy who is a pretty solid libertarian had just sent him a Mayor Pete article and said that he liked the guy. Not sure what to read into it, other than that a smart, coherent guy appeals to smart folks, even if they are of different political persuasions, especially in this time when we're ruled by morons.
  6. Steak 48 and the bar at the Four Seasons are two Houston locations where I'm pretty sure I've seen more high end escorts than I've ever seen in Vegas.
  7. Do you have a clue how much of your plan is being paid for by your employer? It's likely over $1,000/mo. If that was coming out of your pocket every month, you might feel a bit differently about your health insurer.
  8. Yeah, I have to experience it once. There are lots of places where you can reserve a table if you pay enough. That's probably what we'll do.
  9. Fully expecting a shit show, that's why we've booked Top Golf one day and are looking to book something else for Saturday. I'm not waking up at 5:00 a.m. to grab a table.
  10. That's funny. I did that during Love too a few years back. I don't do the late shows any more for that reason. I'll third the Absinthe recommendation.
  11. Probably Caesars or Mandalay, but I'm not really a pool guy. I'd vote Caesars for location.
  12. Heading out for first weekend of March Madness, first time doing that. Staying at Harrah's. I'm a member of the March Madness in Las Vegas Facebook group which has a ton of info about watch parties, sports books, etc. but I'm looking for any first hand experience y'all have from that weekend. We have one afternoon booked at Top Golf in the top floor cabanas and are thinking we'll probably wander the Linq area one afternoon and probably hit downtown one night. Any specific experiences/watch parties that y'all recommend?
  13. Fair enough, although I might have to hate you now for making me think of Camille and naked at the same time.
  14. I've always enjoyed Camille's shtick. She usually provides 5 minutes of overly intellectual masturbatory but entertaining reading, at least one thing I completely agree with and at least several that I completely disagree with. What's not to like?
  15. Man he has a lot more patience with idiots than I do

    I want OU

In order for us to play OU they would have to win next Friday, and I want them to lose ever fucking single game they play. So bring on WV.
  17. Oh boy. Shits about to go down. You just know it.
  18. As someone who voted Dem in reliably Republican Midland County, I think I can pretty safely say that more than anything folks out here are simply straight ticket Republican voters. They look at you like you're an absolute loon if you even suggest the idea of voting for anyone who's not a republican. I don't care how good the Democratic candidate was, or even how conservative he was, I think it would be nearly impossible to cut into that straight ticket margin. I would list the issues that I heard discussed by all of my Republican friends and co-workers, in order, as follows: 1) Guns 2) Immigration/caravan (lots of subtle and not so subtle racism in these comments) 3) General jabs at liberals/SJWs/MeToo/liberal women/Kavanagh, etc. I'm sure religious conservatism and abortion underlie a lot of the undying devotion to the Republican brand, but those weren't hot topics of discussion this go round.
  19. I remember 2016. It’s gonna be a long night folks. Don’t get too worked up.
  20. Yup. I tried to have a political discussion with my father in law a month back and some of the first words out of his mouth were about how the Democrats are going to take away his medicare and social security. We just had to agree not to discuss politics any more. I was dumbfounded at the disconnect from reality.
  21. So looking at Zork's numbers above, it's really interesting to me that about 30% of the voters have never voted in a primary and about 10% haven't voted period. No clue about past elections, but those are some huge numbers and if they break hard for one candidate they could seriously impact the race.
  22. Lots of college basketball while scanning the internet feverishly for every scrap of election news. And beer.
