  1. It may have been Pod Save America, but somewhere there was polling that a large number of people do not know or do not believe that we are locked into Biden Trump and that one or both of them may not win the nomination (setting aside Trump's legal issues). Again -- dumb electorate.
  2. Yeah…. I am going to have a pretty good Bijan share in DFS. Contrarian play, AZ defense sucks, and he’s playing in his hometown.
  3. Yeah, totally disagree here. Have they ever taken a 1 loss non-conference champ over a 1 loss conference champ? I don’t think so Closest is when Georgia got 5 and OSU 6 in 2018 but who gives a shit about 5 and 6. We just need to win out so we can have the debate. And root for chaos everywhere else so there is no debate.
  4. And if we win out and that happens we will jump Georgia. I agree someone needs to lose though. Odds are someone will (including us, unfortunately).
  5. This. I could give a shit what rankings are through Thanksgiving. They’ve already shown they will completely go the other way on the final playoff selection.
  6. Yeah - we just need FSU to lose and if we win out I think we are in. The Bama win gets us in over any 1 loss non-conference champ. Period.
  7. I could see Houston beating Okie St because they (specifically their passing game) are a different team at home. Doubt it, but possible. They still likely get in though While I want one more shot at Okie St, I just don’t trust the Big XII, and it’s even more stark after that no call PI in the end zone yesterday. That was some fucking egregious 2015 Okie St-UT shit. Our best case for committee beauty contest (if needed) and fairness was OU again in CCG. If anyone else, particularly OSU, and it would never happen, CDC ought to petition the conference for neutral refs in CCG pointing to Commissioner’s comments to Texas Tech and the OU game yesterday.
  8. Ole Miss at home giving only 3 points to Aggy?

He was our worst regular starter last year. He was one of our most consistent players this year. I am not sure he improved much. It explains a lot.
  10. Fury is tall fat real life version of Brad Pitt’s character from Snatch. At least that’s how I’ve always seen him.
  11. This. Was going to add that Sark’s play calling did the offense no favors.
  12. Yeah, dude had his issues but it’s his first start ever. Some people are acting like this is Ewers against Okie St last year. Do I want Ewers back? Yeah. But I’m down with Maalik as depth and, I mean, players can improve. Fucking message boards, man.
  13. Meant to post this a while ago, but we were in Vegas OU weekend. On Sunday, we did the Circa book downtown which was actually fucking awesome. It's a bigger version of Lagasse Stadium (RIP). I don't go to Vegas enough to know whether it's a "hidden" gem, but it was a ton of fun and they weren't stingy on the free drink tickets. Downside is food generally sucks in that casino, but I found an Asian restaurant upstairs that was pretty good. We hit two straight flushes for table bonuses at Pai Gow during the SF/Cowboys game as well when we left our seats so will return.
  14. I fucking hate it when this thread gets bumped

    USMNT 2023

That's the thing... in 2014, Bradley had already gone back to the MLS from Roma, Dempsey was back in the MLS, Jozy was completely useless at Sunderland (not entirely his fault, but his EPL opportunity came... at Sunderland) We had some dudes kicking around Germany, but only an 18 year old Julian Green was on an elite team. Said differently, in 2014, we had two guys that had any UCL run (2 others that didn't, including Green), and they were at Schalke (Jones) and Anderlicht (Kljestan, who isn't even in this conversation). We had 11 last year, and 11 this year, plus two on Juve who weren't allowed in. There is always the argument that the Euro leagues trust US players more now than in 2014, but that can't explain it all. If you are taking the coaching out of it, and just look at where our players are getting run across Europe, the talent right now, *today* (not their ceiling), is way better than 2014. Honestly, even Dempsey, who is my favorite player ever, would need to play 9 if he wants to start because I prefer Reyna, Weah and Pulisic over him. I'll give everyone the 2014 GK for now, but ask me again in 2 years.
  16. What the Dems did here by staying out of the fray was probably the strongest move they've made in the legislative branch in the last 40 something years. Now that it's over and the Christo-fascist won, they can come out swinging. The GQP makes its own Democratic campaign ads, including MIke Johnson's speech today. Dems need to continue to just let the GQP speak for itself and provide the amplifier to the uninformed/apathetic voter. Michelle Obama can sit this one out.
  17. I don't know why people thing that Emmer would have been an effective speaker given this insane caucus. And I don't know why people thing that this East-East Texas Christo-fascist is going to get anything done either. The dems did exactly what they should have done. And now they can hold the fact that those in Biden districts that supported Emmer are now on record supporting this d-bag.
  18. Whether or not there have been discussions doesn’t matter. Biden thought he had a deal with McCarthy and McCarthy backed out. Any promises of cooperation can’t be trusted so it’s rational to then not help.
  19. It's pretty much game theory to me - a twist on prisoners' dilemma. Yeah, the best outcome for all is to cooperate, but Dems can't trust GOP to keep their word if they supported McCarthy or others. So it's absolutely rational, and the right decision without reliable cooperation, to vote for Jeffries as a block and let the GOP figure it out. Because whatever the outcome comes from that decision, it's better than getting shivved by the Republicans after trying to help the less crazy wing of their party out.
  20. 100% of this is on McCarthy from a cause-and-effect standpoint. He was ready to throw in against Trump, it seemed, after 1/6/2021, but then flew to MAL and bent the knee. Everything we are seeing is pretty much preordained from there.

The new front office? I mean, they haven’t done anything yet we can see results from, and this was a wasted season for the new guy. Ownership? Yeah. Ok. I can agree with you some there. Ownership does need to realize that another season like this one in the Texas heat and other than the north end and the AC controlled club in the Lexus seats, it’s going to be a pretty empty stadium. I am pretty sure Austin will be a lot more like L.A. football than Portland if there isn’t a good product on the field.
  22. So violate the commerce clause in the language of the ordinance? I’d say bold strategy but except, y’know, this SCOTUS.
