The Eddie Murphy Comedians in Cars is good and worth watching. You can see there is real pain, and frankly confusion, in Eddie in the way Cosby singled him out in the ‘80s. The joke last night was awesome and spot on, and fuck Cosby’s people.

And Lizzo killed it to, and seemed excited to be there.
Eddie wants short skits. That’s clear. But it is funny.

Given Lindelof’s success extending on both Watchmen and the Leftovers, maybe he should identify some other IP he loves and extend on that.
Nothing comes to mind right now that hasn’t been attempted with less success. Maybe Children of Men would be good? -
I am enjoying the show, but not thrilled with the sci fi turn, no matter how much they've been hinting at and foreshadowing it. I preferred the idea that White Rose was just insane and powerful.
I am almost wondering if there is some personality nesting/inception shit going on here, and the Elliot we've known is just a manifestation of the one we just met, or something in that vein. I imagine there is going to be some kind of meeting among Mr. Robot, mom, and young Elliott, and a reference back to whatever of Elliott's personalities spoke to Darlene about Vera in between seasons. That would be some Dallas/St. Elsewhere level rug pulling, though.

Yeah, if they do this again, they need to take the Fargo approach. Do a show in the 70s around time of Keene Act. Or the capture of Moloch. Perhaps don't try to copy Lindelof's style of purposely confusing, because I don't think most people can.
That said, I'd be fine if they don't do another season.

Probably the best “puzzle box” season of TV I’ve ever seen.

For those hoping for plot to move forward, this isn’t Watchmen. They are gonna push this thing for 4 or 5 seasons if they can. That’s OK. I like what it’s doing.

Anyone watching this? It’s a weird Sons of Anarchy/Sin City mashup with a Kill Bill like revenge story set in some alternative version of the U.S.
Totally unique, and I am enjoying it, but just happened on to it. There is zero marketing for this show.
Plus Abigail Spencer in the lead.

Seems like Lin Manuel was a poor casting choice. Other than that, we are enjoying well enough.
I think it is purposely a PG-13 in the later Harry Potter/Star Wars vein as far as letting kids see it.

So why doesn’t he blow up the cannon first? Sorry had to.
That was an awesome episode.

Has anyone checked out Reprisal on Hulu yet? I am 2 episodes in and it is promising. Unique and weird enough so far. Creates its own world.
Not sure about Ron Slater from Dazed and Confused as the big bad. but he hasn’t been in it enough yet to judge.

How bad does Wiscy have to beat Ohio St to make committee consider Wiscy for that last spot?

Loved the Baylor fans booing her when she said she went to TCU.

I’ve got 12 months free of AppleTv and was watching trailers for the shows. All have great actors and seem well produced. But any buzz? I am not bothering with Morning Show but Truth be Told and See looked promising. Interested in thoughts on Servant, too.
Given I had to bump this from Nov 10th, I think I know my answer, but still curious.
I still think that Netflix is going to have issues keeping its subscription fee so low given it has no other revenue streams and spends so much on content. Eventually, it’s market cap will drop precipitously, allowing Apple to buy it in the next 36 months given it appears Apple’s foray into original content seems to be a bust so far.

I think the genius of this show is that people like my wife that hadn’t even heard of the movie, much less the comic, are enjoying it because she’s enjoyed shows like The Leftovers in the past. But if you know the source material it’s even on another level of enjoyment, while as @Nice Guy Eddie mentioned above, still keeping you confused and uncertain of what is happening next (in a good way).
edited to add - the fact that we can have those familiar and unfamiliar with source material on same thread without a fucking meltdown is a miracle in and of itself.

While the "smartest person on earth" trait would suggest Veidt is Trieux's dad, it would tie back to the comic better if it was The Comedian. That would make Lady Trieux 48, though.

Mine too. Although I wasn't a UT fan yet and rooting for Air Force. That was a top 5 Air Force team.

Yeah. This is one of those times where the opponent you beat is more important than how it went down. I tell you 28-22 2 days ago you are thrilled. The Titans are coming on hard and Texans have to play them twice. This was a massive win.

If Herman is going to be afraid to hire people that question his style or are a threat to his authority we are already doomed. Fucking bring guys in that challenge you to be better.
-
Two other bits from ep 5 that mean more in ep 6:
- When looking glass breaks into 7K compound, there is a cyclops mural on wall.
- I missed this the first time but Senator Keene mentioned that he *and* Judd Crawford came in to fix the mess after the White Night. Perhaps others caught it, but they were clearly working together, it seems.

I know this is a common sentiment, and one that most people reflexively agree with at first glance, but this is a serious question: Why? How does the football coach's personality/ethics affect your life in any way?
Football exists solely in my life for entertainment. I'm tired of having to change out of burnt orange before leaving the house on Saturday nights so I don't have to deal with the smirk and "what happened to y'all today?" questions from strangers. I just want to win, and I don't care who does it.
Fine. Let's hire Pitino when we fire Shaka this year and bring Art Briles in from East Texas if he's available after Urban invariably turns us town. I'm exaggerating. But they are just different points on a continuum, not apples to oranges. YMMV on where you'd prefer to jump off that continuum before we are looking at guys like Kiffin or Briles, and that's fair.
But to answer your question, it's certainly more fun when I want to root for the coach, too. I simply don't want to root for Urban if I don't have to. If we hired Urban, I'd handle it the same way I do Herman: reluctantly, because I support the school and the players over the coach. And with Urban, I'd be crossing my fingers we don't turn into late aught's early 2010's Florida.

I don’t want my coach to be a douchebag or a piece of shit. Urban Meyer is a piece of shit. Ergo. I don’t want him. I felt the same about Herman who is a douchebag. I was ready to tolerate him after Georgia last year, but that’s done.
How about a thoughtful, reasoned process that allows us to choose among a few people that are interested rather than starting at Urban/Saban and checking down a list until we aren’t rejected like we did when we hired Strong. Fuck the narrative in the press. Run the process with all deliberate speed. Nevermind. That will never happen. Red out front shoulda told you. Gruden!
