  1. Negged for insulting rattlesnakes by comparing them to the GQP...
  2. Clicking through, I see there is somebody inside a dinosaur costume, except the heels sticking out, so that at least makes some sense.
  3. I am still wanting to add some small gold type coins, but I think premiums (to spot) are still really high right now, so I am practicing patience. Hopefully soon I can try and track down some of my wants, like a 2 peso, 2.5 peso, Canadian sovereign, and maybe a USA $1 and $2.5. Those small ones will have more premium that the big coins, so eventually I should probably just suck it up and pay up. In the meantime, I am considering getting around 20 g of rhenium metal pellets, just in case that metal price goes nuts sometimes, and if it doesn't, I'll at least have a cool stash of a rare exotic metal.
  4. This just sunk in for me. Lulz. Even the calendar days are imaginary for these people.
  5. Probably most of the landers that we are so proud of, actually get on the alien thread for douchebag parking.
  6. Why should the cost of the food and of the delivery be connected? They are two completely different things. And what does the cost have to do whether it is convenient or not? Usually I expect to pay more for convenience and how much depends a lot on the situation and much less on what I feel like paying.

  8. The exact genome, at least the first one, was figured out very quickly, whether or not China provided any help on anything. And the vaccine makers were right on it with that sequenced genome.
  9. You mean these vaccines, which seem to be extremely effective, that have been developed and deployed faster than any vaccine ever made before? Hmmm...
  10. If only I could keep Google Maps from picking the I-35 way even when I specifically said otherwise...
  11. The Parkway is built where an old native road was, back when 'road' meant only footpath. I thought it was cool to be traveling on a very old path there.
  12. That is a good plan to start with. Note that some parts of the Rim are closed sometimes due to falcons nesting, I do not know if that is the case right now though. Water is heavy.
  13. All I can tell from that tiny photo is that it is an Oklahoma license plate, so I suppose you have proved your case.
  14. Undefeated?
  15. My understanding (hopefully I will be corrected if wrong): Do *NOT* pay anything on this account, whether or not the collection people are especially scammy or not. I think that, if you do pay anything, then that account is considered active again, and instead of having this 11 year old collections account (which should have dropped off your credit report), you will then have a 1 day old active but delinquent account, and THEN your credit will be negatively affected by this. EDIT: On actually reading your message, I see that this is not actually your account, so doubly-extra you should ignore it. But if it WAS your account somehow, still do not pay anything.
  16. He saw that sign saying 'pack rat', figured you had a shipping container full of tasty rodents, and stopped by for a feast. Or so thought snek.
  17. I can't think of a specific favorite painting, but I have been impressed a few times how incredibly different the physical painting can be from a print that otherwise looks much the same. My parents had a print by some Dutch painter, of a young woman in a kitchen or something like that. The print was so boring, I could not imagine why anyone would put up such a boring picture. Then I saw it in person in the Rijksmuseum, and it glowed, the daylight was luminescent yellow. It was amazing! But only in person. I've had similar experiences with some Frida Kahlo works, things I had seen a million times as a print, then in person I see the eyes in the portraits for real, and it is a shock.
  18. This sums it up. And knowing that they are dishonest, be skeptical of their reasons.
  19. What happened on Feb 10? I was not sure what that one was. I suppose you might be referring to when the Wampanoag Indians under King Philip killed all the men in Lancaster Mass in 1676, maybe you barely escaped from that in time or something.
  20. As for silver, my conclusion is to keep any pieces that I want to hold long-term, because I just like their shiny looks or whatever, and sell the rest as convenient, but I have given up on investing in it. I did take some profits on a 100 oz bar that I bought just over 20 years ago, at about $5.30/oz, which seems like a nice profit, but it probably came up short of an S&P 500 fund, and was a lot more complicated to sell, so I will not try that anymore. Gold is for keeping indefinitely, unless there comes some emergency situation, like when I need to flee the country with only the clothes on my back (and the gold in my pockets), or having to barter with dragons. But I have not actually had much success accumulating gold, I always think it is too expensive. About 2 years ago, I was excited because the price of a US Saint Gaudens $20 in nice condition was little more than metal price, and I was patiently waiting for a drop in the spot price so I could snag a nice buy of a cool coin that I have always wanted one of. But then a bunch of strange stuff happened, and I still have not had my chance...
  21. 2*5.5 + (3.5-2)*(5.5 + 4.5)/2
  22. I'm not sure I agree with you 100% on your special relativity work there, Lou...
  23. The mineral exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science is fantastic. I always loved checking that out. There is also a seashell collection just outside the mineral wing that is really cool as well. The best mineral collection I ever saw though, was the E. A. Seaman museum, which was (formerly) on the Michigan Tech campus in the UP. It has moved somewhere else now, and was only partially on display when I visited, but they had some really cool stuff. First there were great specimens from the Upper Peninsula (copper, silver, iron minerals), plus lots of other really cool specimens from around the world, and with a great fluorescent mineral display.
  24. That is cool. I assume you were expecting to get one of the rooster 20 francs? I don't know my French gold, but my quick research says this is a circulation coin, not a restrike. I like it!
  25. I am happy to see wage inflation at the low end, honestly, whatever the reason. For decades, the economic bargain that the low end got has got shittier and shittier. It is time to be able to live on a basic job. Of course it means I will pay a little more for some things, but I don't mind. It is worth it as a society. I'd actually bet that child care issues is the biggest thing that is depressing the labor pool right now, but I dunno. The economic lot of the masses actually got a lot better after the Black Plague. Suddenly there were not enough serfs, and the landowners had to actually attract labor, and the peasants got a better bargain. Maybe this will be a little bit similar. And for that matter, can have interest ratez plz??? I am tired of earning 0% on money.
