  1. Your memory is not so faded. I had not heard of these, so I just looked them up, and indeed there were bi-metallic coins in 1993-1995 (and also 1992 for the 10 nuevos pesos) that had the actual silver weight just as you said. My Mexico coin book can be confusing, as there were a number of bullion/commemorative issues that did have precious metals but did not circulate, it is hard to tell which is which. I wonder if I even have some of these without knowing...
  2. Why would I want to remember anything he posts???
  3. For coin roll hunters, it usually sounds like the search for irregular coins is a big part of the fun. You are hoping to find something unusual, and any kind of error is a happy find.
  4. It had to be an incredible relief when the launch went ok and it folded out ok also. The project took so long that it is basically entire careers for some people. It could have blown to smithereens, but instead it is working and you KNOW it will find something very interesting in the IR spectrum. The relief that something you have worried about for 30 years is now ok must be very welcome.
  5. For computers, I remove all disk drives, and at least try to destroy them, mainly by removing all the screws so I can open up the drive and see the nice shiny (and sharp!) platters inside. Maybe I will try and break the platters. At that point, I figure that reading any data is beyond anybody who really cares and has special equipment, and then the drive goes in the trash. The rest of the computer goes in the trash.
  6. If they used that dark green color for the X, it would make it at least a little bit cooler.
  7. Yes, but he is the lowest rep getter in terms of likes per word posted.
  8. And as we can see here, the destroyer DD Cole, is a boat, not a ship.
  9. Needs a crocodile though.
  10. Isn't there some 'pickling' process where steel gets dumped into phosphoric acid or something to remove the rust?
  11. Then we will get the blessed relief of August. Ahhhh....
  12. I'm still pissed that Shiner Bock isn't $3.55 per six-pack like it was back in the 80's/early 90's.
  13. I can read the Threads no problem without an Instagram or FB account. I was a little worried about that part, I can't usually see links to either.
  14. A couple of weeks I added this commemorative banknote from Ukraine, which I bought from a seller there. It took a couple of weeks to get here (no surprise) but arrived fine.
  15. Yep. Sensors show something that imploded, triangulate its position, then send an ROV deep down and find it. And you didn't plan any of this so it tests how well you can do all that quick with no warning.
  16. What if what that guys says is a superposition of 50% saying "quantum" and 50% times square root of -1 saying "muledick"???
  17. Cleopatra's children with Marc Antony were not massacred. They were taken to Rome and paraded through the streets in chains, but then they were raised by Octavian's sister, who had an orphanage of sort for royal connected children. Her daughter with Antony, Cleopatra Selene, ended up marrying Juba and becoming queen of Mauritania, a Rome client state in North Africa. I don't count becoming a Queen as being massacred.
  18. I like this version, as it is also pro-snek.
  19. I am the ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8!
  20. Unfortunately metal foil will not block magnetic fields. Electrical fields, radio signals, light, yes, but magnetic fields no. Magnetic field shielding is expensive.
  21. Well it is called the 'work function' not the 'working function', and it is not the fundamental basis of quantum mechanics, though it did feature prominently in Einstein's famous paper back in 1905, so I call this debunking as debunked. But it is true that 60 hz radiation cannot destroy biological molecules the same way as e.g. xrays or gamma rays. In the case of xrays ('ionizing radiation') the electromagnetic chunks (photons/quanta) have a large amount of energy, enough so if they interact with a biological molecule, they can blast it apart, which causes a variety of bad things. But the quanta from 60 hz radiation will have an extremely low amount of energy, and one photon by itself is not going to do anything to a specific biomolecule.
  22. Sounds like a great trip, I have wanted to do something like that. In a previous, and now hardly imaginable world, I would have added Saint Petersburg to that itinerary. I have heard that the ferry rides across the Baltic involve large amount of drunkenness, but I have never been there to check.
  23. I no longer have any worries that Elon is capable of getting something like that done. So there is that.
  24. Could the front end be less fully developed, since it is a juvenile? My vague sense in walking past this guy was that the head made it look like a young-un. But I am not a snake naturalist so I don't really know anything.
