  1. From the '70s to '90s, Miami had Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinnie Testaverde, Steve Walsh, Craig Erickson, and Gino Torretta, the latter three of which won national championships in '87, '89, and '91 (and Kosar won in '83), with Testaverde and Torretta winning the Heisman. In terms of college production that streak is unreal, but consider that three of those QBs had lengthy NFL careers and the other three also started NFL games under center, and I doubt any school matches that streak.
  2. Fact: no OL from the 2009 roster were drafted--none, not even the freshmen who rode the bench. I don't even remember any signing as UDFA, but I don't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, so. That roster of OL in 2009 was so bad that the next OL to sniff the NFL was Trey Hopkins, who was a freshman in 2010 and caught on with the Bengals as UDFA in 2014. If that 2009 team had even one NFL-caliber OL...Jesus Christ that season could have been up there with 2005. Instead, it was 5 dudes leaning on other dudes before shouting "Olé!" and ushering pass rushers in Colt's direction.
  3. No kidding. The backup QB has been the most popular player on the team for at least a half century. I remember my dad and grandfather arguing about it.
  4. Slightly different situation, but that was part of the argument for playing National High School POY Chris Simms over Major Applewhite and his glass knees. It ended up being a huge black eye for Texas fans, many of whom decided to shit on Simms for the remainder of his career, and Mack Brown, who revealed he was nutlessly indecisive and went egomaniacal over it (including overruling GDGD and sneaking Colt against KSU three straight times that resulted in an injury).
  5. Because it's better to have the starter on a 9-1 team go pro so you can replace him with someone who's never taken a college snap?
  6. Hey...next time wait until after the game, please. Thanks.
  7. "Ewers sucks and Arch should starts...oh, wait, Ewers might be out?...We're fucked! Arch isn't ready!" VY to WR...Chiles should starts...
  8. Which one of you did this? https://x.com/boardgeniuses/status/1714314073486266712?s=46&t=MsOmit7KPSN_GzST9Rcfdg
  9. Not 100% sure the Mack hire was one of the greatest if I'm honest. Sure he was able to out recruit the rest of the conference even with BloU and dick eater winning it all in 2k, and he (or GDGD depending on who you ask) was also smart enough to GTFO Vince's way and let him do his thing. Colt was one of those QB's who go to Okie Lite, Baylor, K-state etc and light people up...but he was fortunate (as were we all) to land on a Texas team that was still stocked with talent from the VY days. Other than that and some 10 win seasons based on our talenting teams, was he anywhere near the coach Royal was? I mean, if you take out Bijan's three 7-yard runs, 19-yard run, 9-yard run, 13-yard run, and 10-yard run, he was a pedestrian 52 yards rushing on 12 carries against the Packers. Certainly not on his way to ROTY.
  10. But we weren't too talented and deep to lose to 0u. 0u's roster is usually right there with ours and vice versa, and Texas-0u is a different beast. I agree Texas should have won this game, but it's one of two where the opponent has the same talent level Texas does. I don't necessarily think Sark will change his nature so much as I think having players around who won't let it hinder them is what makes the difference. Love him or hate him, Ewers is a good example. He broke Colt's completion record (what's the new record? 21 consecutive?) and was a big part of why Texas is on top with 1:17 to go after a -3 TO differential with its starting center out due to injury. Doesn't matter. Fuck me for seeing something different.
  11. I'm not saying it's not a big deal--Hell, I didn't watch any college football after that game--but it hasn't pragmatically been the same since 2017 when it became the two highest win-percentages in conference that went to the CCG. For much of the past several decades after a loss to 0u, Texas would have had to hope for two teams to beat 0u when it was generally the case that only Texas had the talent to beat 0u. Now, win out and play 0u again on another neutral field. Barring injuries, I still think this team is too talented and too deep to lose another game. And to be more specific about the point someone else was trying to make, with CFP there's always a chance. 2014 tOSU lost to No. 8 Va Tech. 2015 Bama lost to No. 15 Ole Miss. 2016 Clemson lost to UR Pitt. 2017 Bama lost to No. 6 Auburn. 2021 Georgia lost to No. 3 Bama.
  12. Texas 47 - Okie Lite 28 Texas 40 - aggy 29 So...VY did not account for whatever the fuck he wanted to win by, man, or he would have pounded everyone by 50. My point was that 2005 Texas doesn't beat 2023 Texas by 31 points. There's no way 2023 Texas is the equivalent of 2005 Missouri or worse than 2005 CU, 2005 Okie Lite, or 2005 aggy.
  13. So...you're saying 2005 versus 2023 is just bad matchups or what? I'm having a difficult time believing 2023 Texas isn't way better than 2005 Missouri (-31), would be a toss-up with 2005 Tceh (-35), and would likely lose to 2005 CU (-25), 2005 Okie Lite (-19), and 2005 aggy (-11). With the 2005 schedule, I'd say 2023 Texas is 10-1, maybe 9-2. 2023 Texas is faster and quicker than 2005 Texas (yes, they are and I would take Brooks over any 2005 RB except Jamaal Charles, and I would take Worthy-Whittington-Mitchell over sophomore Limas-sophomore Billy Pittman-freshman Jordan-freshman Quan) and that would keep them within two TDs. Take VY out and 2023 barely beats 2005, but you're right that VY is worth +14 by himself...so I say final score would be 35-24. The real hypothetical question in my mind is if you add Bijan back to this team, would anyone be able to stay within 3 TDs this season? I think no. I'm not trying to say 2023 Texas is scary good, but they're pretty fucking good and 2005 tOSU is a good example of a team that was pretty fucking good (and finished #4, having lost only to the eventual National Champions and a horribly underrated Penn State team).
  14. Like look, man, you're arguing that Worthy isn't special because he might be 1/12 of the dudes that run a sub-4.4 or even 1/3 of the dudes that run a sub-4.2. Maybe sit down, have a beer or two, and meditate on that argument quietly, man.
  15. I hate the fuck out of our fans sometimes. You'd think we were 0-4 with blowout losses to Rice and Baylor, Ewers was on his 17th INT, and Worthy was still in the parking lot dicking down SpiralOut's mom.
  16. They did. Everyone did. Our playbook was the size of the Greater Houston Yellow Pages, but GDGD famously had a quick reference with about 15 GDMB-approved plays on it taped to the front that he defaulted to constantly. 0U was on of the few teams we couldn't simply out-talent in that span and they knew all 15 plays and when we liked to call them. It was painful.
  17. Pimped out a cheerleader? Don't all college programs do that on the down low? Except us. I mean, surely the Texas Angels just give tours, am I right? Edit: Fuck Baylor. Wholesome murderers and rape-enablers is spot-on. Deserve may have nothing to do with it, but those two stories should rightfully follow anytime "Baylor" is mentioned. "Congratulations to Baylor on their men's basketball national championship following consecutive decades of covering up a murder and institutional rape culture where no one's daughter was safe while attending."
  18. Look, I'm telling you there's no evidence that there are pictures of Chip Brown orally pleasuring a transsexual Filipino prostitute in an alley in Manila.
  19. I’d intended to do something with it but it was easier to transport this way. Then when I finally got it through customs I thought it looked better like that.
  20. Kind of. It’s a half cape. The rest of it is on the wall.
  21. The ‘94 is a Winchester. It belonged to my grandfather. It’s my favorite. I also have a carbine with a round barrel, but I’ve beat it all to shit over the years. The SA is a Uberti 1873 knock-off in 45LC. I would love to own an actual Colt, but every time I decide to grab one I somehow end up with a suppressor or a black gun instead.
