The Last of Us coming to HBO
It’s sad when Reddit has a better grasp on reality than surly. Had no idea Ramsey got the role for being non-binary

Awful Texas foodways
Brisket is horrendously overrated. Burgers, steak, chicken, are all superior forms of meat 2nd on blue bell being terrible Not sure if it’s a Texas thing or not, but chili is better with beans Pecan pie and kolaches both fucking suck. Kolaches are 90% bread and 10% filling, can’t stand them Whataburger is terrible, but it used to not be

The Last of Us coming to HBO
Potato or not, the character is unwatchable, annoying, and unrealistic. It’s why I think the writers should’ve gone a very different direction from the game and made her older and more sympathetic.

Wouldn’t it be weird if they did find her attractive?

Regional Dishes/Drinks of Texas
Had to google what allsups was. There are none near anywhere I’ve ever been in Texas. Wild that this state can have a pretty extensive chain of something I’ve never heard of.

The Last of Us coming to HBO
For the sake of the show I actually think aging up Ellie to 18-19 in season 1 and having a non-potato actress play her would have been the smarter move. Would have made her much more believable as a survivalist and the added maturity would have made her a lot more interesting/likeable. No one wants to watch two whiny, scrawny “teenagers” cosplaying as zombie-slaying Rambo’s try to carry the show as the leads for the next 8 episodes.

Not a chance. Lulzed at $14/lb salmon. At HEB the salmon things cost $17-$19.

Csb that I’ve told before: Colt McCoy is my favorite longhorn ever, even when he first started playing. I was 14 or 15, I think it was after his freshman or sophomore season, but I read in an article that he didn’t drink sodas. I was like “huh I want to be like that”. Gave it up for a few months, liked the superiority complex it gave me, and then just went the next 15 years or so without drinking even one soda. I had one last year, my coworker had got some Japanese ones and I tried it. But still haven’t had any American ones since I was a kid, no desire to either.

2025 S Jonah Williams
Kohl Stewart, Ace Whitehead, Austin Aune are some examples from Texas in recent years just off the top of my head. Aaron Judge turned down FBS offers in football and basketball for baseball.

Soto just got a similar deal like 2 months ago

2025 MLB thread
No greater sign of strength than an entire city accepting martial law for a day so one of the most inept manhunts in history could be carried out. What a fucking joke.

Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Stop Being Poor
He lost my respect when he wouldn’t cut his hair like Ewers did. If you want all the attention, if you want to make it all about you, you better be able to deliver when it counts. He couldn’t.

Active shooter thread
Police saying at least 6 injured, confirm there was only one shooter, who is in custody.

Active shooter thread
Not a local news source. There’s also almost never 2 shooters, but every mass shooting starts out with it being reported as such

NCAA announces rule changes to combat faking injuries - Ole Miss and LSU to appeal, probably
The timeout limit in OT is a good rule change though

Pretty cool WWII bomber waist gunner training video
Um, I’m pretty sure they were taking anyone they could get. They didn’t have the luxury of sorting by region.

17 year old stabbed to death by another 17 year old at Frisco track meet
I’ve never been to Frisco or even spent much time in DFW. But looking at the TAPR profile (statewide accountability system for schools) for each school, the school that Metcalf went to actually has a lot more economically disadvantaged students and was a lot more racially diverse than Anthony’s school. Centennial (Anthony) is actually 51% Asian and only has about 9% “poor” students enrolled. Memorial (Metcalf) has 21% poor students, and whites making up the largest chunk of the student body, but only at 37%. and TIL that not all affluent Dallas suburbs are Southlake carroll copies

Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
The game is far, far different now than it was back then. Guys are ready faster than ever now and the league puts a gigantic premium on youth when it comes to drafting. If he has a great year he’s gone.

So excited to go to the SEC with these Tennessee assholes
That’s an easy thing to explain to a recruit though. He was asking for far more than he was worth. It wasn’t a money issue
