It was a uniquely down year for us. Just 3 years ago Harlingen & San Benito both beat SA schools in round 2, year after that Brownsville Vets made it to the state semis. PSJAN was robbed of a win over Boerne Champion this year. And they’re not a valley team but Laredo United won’t go quietly against LT this upcoming week. We will rise.
Aaron Jones. LJ Martin, BYU’s current starting RB is also from El Paso. Steven Montez had a decent career at CU as a QB and spent 2 seasons on the Commanders practice squad a couple years ago.
Just watched his highlight tape for the first time. His highlights are mostly him running through gigantic holes at the LOS to the end zone. I, uh, don’t know how well that skill will translate at the next level. You watch a McCaffrey high school highlight tape or a Skatteboo one and you could tell they were freaks and would be special. This guy looks like Brett Robin 2.0
They took Walker as an insurance policy and short yardage back. He’s unanimously rated far, far below Estrada and is just wanted to eat up carries and be used on the goal line. But Choice sees a guy like that and sees an every-down back.
The JAG from Georgetown that’s committed to the Gophers? They have an absolute stud committed currently from El Paso but we haven’t been after him because we have a horrible RB coach. I wouldn’t trust his evals at all.
This call is so bad it’s making national news. Apparently the ref did not rule it a fumble, he somehow believed the ball never touched the ground.

That game is what sold me on Mishak having potential as a college player. Madison had a lot of talent and he tore them up even in the loss. I believe his only time ever playing a non-valley school too.
For Texas, tOSU, and Georgia, the standard is 9 wins a season. Those schools all have unlimited money and talent. It’s pretty inexcusable to have anything less than 9 wins. For everyone else, i think the floor should be 8 wins. If you want to be a contender your coach should at least be able to deliver 8 wins, which gets you a shot at 9 or 10 wins and a playoff opportunity.
Sark’s insistance on getting KJ Lacey will always baffle me. No 5’11 QB could ever play for the University of Texas. Sure enough that dude looks like he’ll either transfer or ride the bench for 5 years.
Anyone else watching Alex vs A-Rod on HBO Max? It’s outstanding so far, way better than the garbage baseball-related docs netflix has put out recently. Dude lived a life that few could ever even imagine. Had no idea his first wife was just a normal person he met at the gym. Also a 40-40 season at 21 is insane.
Kind of funny to see all the recruits/transfers many in this thread were adamant we should avoid (Reuben Owens, Andrew Marsh, Zach Branch, KC Concepcion) completely ball out so far this year.
