There has never been a rule banning helmets or blacks from baseball

Don’t be obtuse, we’re clearly talking about the MLB only. Many leagues had written or unwritten rules that prohibited the signing of black players, including the MLB.

You're arguing against civil rights and player/fan safety, those have nothing to do with the rules of the game.

    Thanks for actually responding.

Still, the larger point is that I see no way getting rid of the DH makes the game better. Look at OPS or almost any other batting stat by position, you’ll notice one position lags outrageously behind the others. I don’t see how giving pitchers more at bats makes the game any better. It’ll also decrease the quality of pitching (the most specialized of the defensive positions, it’s dumb to act like it’s no different from 2B or right field) because pitchers will have to devote more time to hitting training.

  3. So no one cares to refute my point? If we should go back to the DH to stay true to the origins of the game, why be half-ass about going that direction? Why not go all out with the original rules?

The DH is a terrible rule partially because it's half-assed. Either stick to the design of the game (if you want to hit then you have to play the field) or else go full platoon. Stop with the stupid single position platoon shit. As I've said multiple times, I hate the DH. The fact that players and managers figured out that one position added so much more defensive value that their offensive contribution was negligible is just the way the strategy works out. But if it's really about having the best in the world do what they do then platoon EVERY position. Some players will be awesome enough to both hit and play the field still. But everywhere else just let the best fielders field and the best hitters hit if that's what you want.

Pretty sure the original "design of the game" included no people of color being allowed to play, no helmets or protective netting, etc. Why shouldn't the game go back to all those things too, if it's authenticity you're seeking? No one wants to see a fucking .150 hitting pitcher go up there and flail at pitches every day.

And you are definitely a tool.

Too bad you don’t have an ounce of talent.

    Your mother would disagree.

Also, baseball is the far superior choice only if you're a high draft choice, or you actually make the show one day. Being a minor league ballplayer that was drafted outside the top 10 rounds is the shittiest deal in all of pro sports.

Pretty much my entire sophomore year.

Butterface with a great body.  Rich as hell.  I was poor.  I didn't have a car and lived in a dorm.  She'd drive over in her brand new BMW with a bottle of top shelf liquor for me, take me back to her apartment, get dinner delivered, and then have her way with me.

    Damn, those were the days.

You poor soul. I guess you had to just close your eyes and pretend it was Bill James taking you to town until it was over.

Yankees are 17-1 over their last 18 games. 9-3 on the year against teams with a winning % over .600... I'll call it right now, this will go down as one of the greatest teams in MLB history when this year is over.

Seeing as though he never played for the Yankees I always knew you are a closet Astros fan

From 2009-2014 I'd go to about 1 or 2 Astros games a year. I'm in Houston often and I'm a huge baseball fan, that was it. Tickets were always super cheap and there would be about 15,000 people total in the stadium every time. Terrific fanbase you guys have.

Yes, he's a Texan.  I thought someone meant the singer, but now I know about Jack Johnson the boxer.  I'm so sorry.

I always thought that whole joke taking away someone's "man card" was stupid, but Jesus Christ...

These are not Texans and have no place on a BMF Texan thread.  Not even honorable mention.

    Sam Houston

    Stephen F. Austin

    William Barrett Travis

    Davy Crockett

    Randy White

    Roger Staubach

    Quanah Parker

    James Fannin

    Erastus "Deaf" Smith

    Jack Johnson

    Jack Hays

    Charles Goodnight

    Charlie Beckwith

    Bob Lanier

    Angelina Eberly

    Bigfoot Wallace

How is Jack Johnson not a Texan? Born in Texas and learned how to fight in the streets of Galveston growing up there as a kid.

One of the really interesting aspects of this show is that they've made certain hosts sympathetic characters, whereas most of the humans are fairly unlikable. In every other man vs. machine movie or TV show, we automatically root for the humans. In this case, I'm conflicted as a viewer, but I'm currently pulling like hell for Dolores and Maeve.

I hate both those characters, Maeve a little less so.

What the fuck man. Roughly 1 in 7 women are raped (the numbers are debatable but it’s a lot). It’s a rather complex issue. Sure some people take any movement too far. Some women (included “ugly chicks”) look for something to bitch about or are “jealous”. But I think this backlash mostly stems from all the rape. Rape is bad bro.

No one here is debating if “rape is bad”. I’m saying that the problem is not nearly as widespread or prevalent as it’s being made out to be. Also, most “incels” are angry beta loners who never leave the house and who lack the courage to act on their desires, both sexual and violent. It’s why they’re an “incel” in the first place. Sure the rare one will, but most will do nothing and just whine on the internet like most anyone. They’re not a group worth complaining about.
