  1. I think the fact that Aaron Burr killed Alexander Hamilton due to a political slur might mean this era isn't quite as contentious has it has been in the past...
  2. And.... I just got approved for my THIRD AMEX Platinum Business Card with 150K MR points after $15K/3 mo spend. That's 2 this year in addition to the one I got several years back. WTF? I mean, I'll take the points, but I guess they're making bank from the fees or something... And they ARE worth close to $0.02/MR points...hell, even if it was only $0.01 I'm still coming out ahead. Yeah...it's another $695 AF, but the MR points are worth between $1500-$3000 and I can use probably $300-$400 of the benefits they give you, so, the AF is really only $295-$395. This was a snail mail offer this time, FWIW.
  3. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
  4. I saw that one...I was...intrigued. But, DOUBLE UP? JFC! I'm not Joey Chestnut!!!!
  5. Going to be there next Wednesday on our way to Ambergris...how long is the processing through customs before we can get on Tropic Air? Don't mind hanging out at Jets but would still like to get to AC ASAP. Trying to book my TA flight right now. An hour should be good, right? or is the covid BS adding time?
  6. Probably just a quick lunch close by for me and the 2 coworkers. We work for the state so vendor lunches are not something we can do very often - or ever. May look at Perry's for dinner... Appreciate the help!
  7. I looked at the menu. I don't care what my coworkers want, i'm getting something from there. And per diem makes the cost issue something I care less about.
  8. Maybe i'll see you there - as you can see I'm there specifically for the PX4 part of the conference but it can't take up TOO much space, can it? I'll be the short, fat, old Aggie. I'll have a Lone Star UAS shirt on, but still have an Aggie cap on. If you get bored, come on over and see what the UAS community is working on.
  9. Ummm...I went to HS in SA and live in Corpus...it'll be like Whitey McWhiteyville there compared to either of those...πŸ˜‰
  10. Thanks for not giving me Negative Waves....πŸ˜€
  11. https://events.linuxfoundation.org/px4-developer-summit/ This one?
  12. I'm going to be up in the downtown Austin area this week 6/22-6/24 for a UAS conference. The conference is at the JW Marriott, but I work for the state so they'd say GFY if I wanted to stay there and pay their rates. But, there's a Residence Inn not far away that I can justify (Yay gubmint). This all appears to be in the 4th- 6th/Congress area...or close to it. So...not really ever being in Austin much (duh), what are some good places to eat in the evening or maybe lunch if they don't have any at the conference. I do know Austin has tons of stuff there, I just don't know exactly what.
  13. Glad to see you're raising your kid to be an Aggie. Gig 'Em, Rip76kid! πŸ˜‰
  14. If it becomes an issue, I'm going to Belize on 6/29 and I'd be willing to take her through security and help her get to Belize. Because I CARE!!!

  16. In the past, a HUGE part of the cost in the upfront expenditure was fighting legal challenges. There were a number of "green" or "anti-nuke" organizations that employed lots of oppositional legal action to prevent them. One of the biggest was the Union of Concerned Scientists. They had been VEHEMENTLY opposed to ANYTHING nuclear since the late 60s... Three Mile Island (which released ZERO radiation), Chernobyl (Russian fuck up) and Fukishima (Bad, but not really). However, in the past few years, they apparently have seen the light and are promoting nuclear power. Which makes me very happy that they came to their senses. Things like this will go a long way to lowering the costs for nuclear to implement new plants.
  17. I'm liking the new scanners they have for your bags/shoes at some airports where you don't have to take your laptops out. When I travel for work I have my personal and work laptops so I need 2 of those bins. But, here in CRP the scanner lets you leave it in the bag. It was the same at SYR last week. That saves me the biggest hassle.
  18. This...except I don't meet them for a drink because they don't have lounge access either...suckers.
  19. Ah...this reminds me of my childhood. I lived about an hour or so from the Cotswolds growing up. We went there often - nice little day trip. We had one of those old churches in our town, too. Really cool attending service in a 700 year old church. And that little model village was really cool to a kid between 5 and 10... Thanks for bringing back the memories - should make the day brighter now.
  20. They're so ugly the earth rejects them...
  21. Nice...The Zulus are SWEET aircraft...Had this poster on my cube wall for awhile.
  22. I know 2 AH-64 pilots here at work that have made "hard landings"...it's apparently a beast. Glad these pilots are (relatively) Ok... I'm a Bell homer and I admit it, but then, I can admit when Boeing ugly shit does well. Especially since all they fucking do for the V-22 is AFCS/PFCS. Well...I guess that's kind of important. But, JFC their CLAWS are convoluted.
