  1. Just east of Weatherford on Ft Worth Hwy.
  2. Well, from what I understand, SCOTUS Justices are not bound by the code of judicial ethics. That's for all the lower courts. HOWEVER...when they are going through confirmation hearings, they aren't SCOTUS justices, they're lower court judges. So, when they are asked that question, they ARE bound by the code of judicial ethics. 😉
  3. Because the message in the poem wasn't just about what Niemoller didn't do in the lead up to WWII. It's about not abdicating personal responsibility solely because the effects of an act won't have immediate personal repercussions.
  4. Fair enough...I will agree with you on his posts. And he IS smart...that's obvious. FWIW, it was a HUGE graphic... As to "First they came..." I think it's a powerful way to show how you should alway do what's right, even if you don't really gain anything personal from it, because not doing what's right can potentially have really bad results. That's how I've taken the message of it...to me it extends far further than just the immediate issue it was referring to... BTW...thanks for keeping the discussion civil. I appreciate that.
  5. JFC you're fucking slow. I never said he was talking about taxes. God damn. You need to work on your reading comprehension (and maybe even read my later post to jimmyjazz).
  6. Brisketexan used the exact same quote on a reply to me on the Supremes thread and you didn't seem to mind it there...and you posted very shortly after he posted it so I'm pretty sure you saw it... Odd that you took umbrage only with me...
  7. So, you don't get Niemoller's point, either? And how it applies to the post I replied to? JFC... His point was that you should always stand up for the things that you believe in, even if the situation doesn't affect you. Because at some point in time, it may affect YOU...and no one will be there for YOU. But, more than that, do it because it's the right thing to do. Heck...just looking at taxes, when the income tax was originally passed, it was only 1% on incomes over $3K/year (very few people at that time) and 6% on people making over $500k (just a few rich people). Looks like it's creeped to include a whole lot more people over time... But, more than that, if you disagree with the idea in general, then you should care even IF it doesn't affect you.
  8. STFU... The quote means so much more than that. I'm not surprised you don't know that, though...
  9. The new NY Pizza on NPI is pretty solid. It's pricey though (I did get the 18" though). I got the Brooklyn Bomber and that thing was HEAVY with ingredients. And GOOD.
  10. I've been drinking too so.......... I hope my position was quite obvious in my post... Slavery WAS sanctioned by some of the states...but not all. The southern states supported it...partly because of racism and partly because of economics. Feel free to assign the the percentages to which one was the most important at the time. I won't. Hope that helps.
  11. Article I Section 9 says hi.
  12. I wasn't able to get into here because I had the moderators block it for me. I guess they either dropped it or when I got referenced in here it opened it up again. No idea how it happened. But it did. I rarely come into here, though, since the DT seems to be good enough without the vitriol. Just thought I'd check out the hot takes on the leaked opinion and there's nothing in DT for that...
  13. What was the name of that restaurant that used to be there? I assume it got destroyed in Harvey, right?
  14. To be fair, that opinion has this in it: That seems to limit its scope a bit.
  15. I will note that a number of those places are on NPI, not Port A...just a clarification. And hurry on Shorty's...it's closing/moving in the fall.
  16. Pffft... Birds aren't real... They're government drones. So this is obviously a cyber attack on the US.
  17. I live on NPI and Paul's (both in Port A and on the Bluff) are where pretty much all the locals I know go... I don't know if the Polly Anna is still there in the Port A marina, but it was great for fresh shrimp. They would go out overnight and have FRESH shrimp the next morning and it was priced GREAT! But, IIRC they were in the marina during Harvey so not sure how they fared. Haven't been by the marina in awhile.
  18. Sips gotdammit! Sips! We dropped the t when we changed from A&M College to Texas A&M. Sheesh... Randolph Duke out front should have told you.😉
  19. Come on...he can't be an Ag. 🤚 We don't let black people in unless they can play sportsball...and he doesn't look like he played sportsball. smdh The above is a joke for those people who don't understand it.
  20. Which AX is this on? Are you saying you can use the AX at Walmart AND Exxon? My GF and I don't drive that much anymore since we moved to Corpus (we live on the island and work in the Bluff). I may do 8K miles a year and she's about 10K. But, we both drive Jeeps so the mpg blows ass. But, doing some quick math that looks to also be about $120/yr for me.
  21. We've got a meth head on the corner of Waldron and SPID in Corpus that walks around like that.
  22. Yes. You can get usually get the Platinum even if you have the Gold. Although sometimes it'll want you to upgrade - don't do that since you won't get the bonus. I don't know if it's still available but the BA Chase card was offering 100K Avios earlier this year. Not sure on the AA cards.
  23. So, what kind of card? General Travel? Airline Miles? Hotel Points? And what AMEX? They have a bunch.
  24. Ok...cool. Like I said, I've never been there but I know it's in the shit show area of the east coast so I wasn't sure. I saw another one through ORD after I posted this that's a little bit shorter flight with a longer layover. I've been through ORD so I know it better. Although the hub/spoke design of the "terminals" sucks if your gates are both at the end of the spokes. I may take that one one. It wasn't available when And it sucks that when I get there, I still have an hr drive to Rome, NY. I told my admin that I wanted a hotel in Syracuse for the last day (can't get home the last day of the conference from there, no flights that late). Flight out is 0700 and I am NOT driving an hour from Rome to SYR to catch that fucking flight. Good thing is I'll get to my house about 1230 on Friday so the day drinking can commence.
