  1. I've got a flight coming up to SYR. I've looked at a couple options and the one that looks best (i.e. shortest) is: DFW->DCA->SYR. But, there's only a 45 min layover in DCA. I've never been through that airport so I can't judge if that's long enough. I'll just have my backpack with me so I don't have to lug a bigger carryon. Any experienced DCA folks here to help me out? If this was at DFW I wouldn't have a problem with that no matter which terminal I landed it and had to take off from but for all I know DCA could be a nightmare. I'll be flying AA fwiw.
  2. I worked for decades on legacy FORTRAN code. Some the the code was probably written before I was born in 1968. GOTOs all over the place. Any time I saw one I rewrote the code to remove it. FORTRAN 77 gave you the ELSE statement. No need to continue on with FORTRAN 66 (IV) anymore. Let. It. Die. While I like Italian food, I do NOT like Spaghetti Code...
  3. Do NOT encourage the continued used of GOTO. Just don't. It needs to die a painful death.
  4. Well...LUV was able to skirt the Wright Amendment LONG before 2015. I flew LUV from DAL to LAX and ONT back in the late 80s/early 90s. Had to stop in one of the neighboring states on the way, but still made it there.
  5. A good starting point would be to use the exceptions to free speech that have been established by SCOTUS with most everything else allowed. This could basically restrict threats. And if the speech from the klan wouldn't be considered out of bounds by the SCOTUS, well ok. Let them spew their stupidity. Allow users to curate what they want to view and they can block the klan tweets from showing up in their feed. Sure, the klan speech sucks and is hateful...but tomorrow, who's to say that the powers that be don't find what YOU say to be sucky and hateful...
  6. We go to St Martin every year for Christmas and try to take at least one more international trip each year (Belize this year). We go through MIA often. And I know what you mean with GE - I see the lines I'm in and watch the GE people waltz right through. Each year I swear I'm going to get it because of that. Then, I forget and...now I'm back in MIA bitching to myself that I didn't do it. And it's not cost. I get Clear because my Amex pays for it. I also could get credit for GE or Pre, too.
  7. I wasn't thinking going to the airport (although I didn't know that about GE). I live in Corpus, so it would be a 2 hr trip just to do the interview. And I'd have to make sure my GF can schedule at the same time. Kinda wish I'd done it when I lived in DFW but I was lazy.
  8. Clear is the shit. Especially in MCO. TSA Pre and Gen Pop are both full. Clear? Just walk up, scan your eyes and you're past the TSA bouncer and putting your bag on the security conveyor belt. In fact, every place that's had Clear that I've been in, the Clear line is non existent to get through to the conveyor belt. NOW...TSA Pre DOES get you the don't take your shoes off shit AFTER clearing the TSA bouncer. So I need to get it too, sometime. But I think I have to drive to SA to do the interview, which would suck.
  9. I understand that. But, why would he give a fuck about any rules about "stockholders" if he takes it private? Or stock prices...All that shit goes away when it goes private, doesn't it?
  10. Could a lot of that be nullified if he actually took it private? Sounds like a lot of those bylaws refer to a publicly traded company...
  11. Luckily I'm cheap as fuck so I'm not paying for that. It would be a better low cost model if they charged you to NOT crash. I'm thinking they could get most people to pay that fee. The millenials and gen z might opt out though based on all the memes I see....
  12. NYC will always suffer through high prices unfortunately. It's basically limited space with a HUGE demand. I guess they can tear down a bunch of the shorter skyscrapers and build newer, bigger ones, but that's still limited. It's not like DFW which, although it has pockets of VERY expensive housing, is reasonably priced for the most part...this is because if things get TOO expensive, they just point to someplace with no buildings and say let's build some stuff there. It can (and does) just keep expanding outwards...a luxury NYC (and SF, LA, SEA, etc) doesn't really have.
  13. I think this is a subject that could go CR REALLY quickly... But...not trying to do that, basically what you're proposing is some kind of price controls on housing, which opens up a huge can of worms that WILL go CR if the discussion gets too much into them.
  14. This could be ripe for HUGE abuse. Buy for $300K...don't live there. Market price goes up to $500K. Restricted to 10% profit, you sell for $330K. I buy for $330K, live there for required period then sell for $500K and make a $170K profit even though the market price didn't increase AND I needed $170K less for investment.
  15. If she's hot, I'll help shove and cram her shit and stow my rigid object.
