  1. Yep. As I told people...you might fuck up and lose a JOB. But, if I do that same fuck up, I lose a CAREER. Made it more more important to me with that distinction.
  2. Getting one can cause you to lose a security clearance or prevent you from getting one. It's not an absolute but...you'd have walk on eggshells for awhile.
  3. Nice. My Dad had a 1961 Midget when we lived in England in the late 70s. Then got a 1972 Midget in the early 80s after we moved to SA. Learned to drive stick shift in that. Figured it was around that year since I knew MG started going away from chrome bumpers after that - my Dad's '72 had full chrome. Wonder what my Dad got when he sold his...
  4. It is GREAT food. I highly recommend it. I was just listing places with outdoor seating. Haha...I understand completely. There is NOTHING on NPI that is further than 4 min from my house and...eh...I got food at home. Not food THAT good, but...I'm comfortable here. And the dragonfly WAS open last time I checked. But, since they've been putting in the bridge on PR22 and the construction nightmare there, I rarely drive that way anymore. NOTE for others: This is a DIFFERENT construction than I mentioned earlier. It's between Commodores/361 and Whitecap.
  5. Yeah...kids have zero give shit about that. But, it should be a great time to be on the beach anyways... BTW...heads up that they're doing construction on the bridge over the ICW and it's only the right lane open both ways. Now, this is just the BRIDGE, not the causeway so you don't have to get to the right till the end, but...for daily life it sucks balls. And I still have no fucking idea what they're doing since all they've done in a month is block off the 2 lanes.
  6. Just saw this... If y'all are coming from Austin, take 130 to Seguin, I-10 to 420 in SA, then around to I-37 to Corpus, 358/22 to N Padre Island and then 361 up to Port A. I live on NPI and I can get from my house to AUS in about 3 hrs...so it would take about 3:15-3:20 from there to get to PA. And that skips the uncertainty of the ferry.
  7. HAHAHA... Fuck that shit. OAT should be great (I'm not there now, but looked on my weather app), but the WATER is still cold. Probably high 60s, low 70s. That's "make your balls shrink up so far they might choke you" cold.
  8. Scuttlebutt's, Angry Marlin, Boathouse and Doc's are good and have outdoor seating. Surfside is a sandwich shop that also has an outdoor area. Oh yeah, and Padre Island Burger Company. And Knockout's has a few tables outside.
  9. FWIW, that wouldn't be a HIPAA violation... It would be wrong, though...
  10. That's funny...I wonder what I'd get if I did it. I know it's worked out for me though. But, I'm hoping my last job is bar owner in Sint Maarten.
  11. I work at TAMU-CC and they have a undergrad degree program in Atmospheric Sciences with two tracks: Atmospheric Science and Weather Broadcasting. The curriculum for the upper levels is quite different in its focus.
  12. Didn't think about it really much other than being a nebulous "Aerospace Engineer" whatever the fuck that was. So, I got a degree in Aerospace Engineering. First job - LEO rockets, ABM missiles and anti-tank missiles. Second job - F-16/F-18 simulation (this REALLY piqued my interest, but management at company SUCKED). Left before 2 years because of the management (and money) Third job - Job shopper (contractor)...over doubled my pay from the second job, but I hated it. However, it helped pay the bills on my super-expanded family quite well. It was nothing but programming in Ada. Bad times, but sucked it up for 4 years. Fourth job - Helicopter simulation. Did this for 17 years and it was awesome. Loved the company, job, people I worked with (except for you, Steve Lewis, you fucking piece of shit) Fifth job - UAS research. I'm now the chief engineer at a research center based out of TAMU-CC that does Unmanned Aerial Systems research. When I got the job it was WAY out of my comfort zone which was invigorating. Now I'm actually combining my new found knowledge in UAVs with a new Simulation system we're setting up. This should be a badass way to finish out my career and retire. (NOTE: I originally just took the job because I wanted to move to N Padre Island for retirement and both my GF and I found jobs the same week. Call it kismet or whatever. Now, I'm really glad I took it because it's a badass job)
  13. If you'd mentioned it, I'm sure someone would have brought you a media guide or Dave Campbell's...
  14. FWIW, in 2020, A&M had 26 commits and 14 were from out of state. In 2021, 9 of 23 were from out of state. This year it was 11 of 26. https://247sports.com/college/texas-am/Season/2022-Football/Commits/ How we got the number one kid in SWEDEN is fucking beyond me, though. SWEDEN? WTF? They play football there? Like, not futbol?
  15. Then! When you have found the shrubbery, you must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest wi-i-i-i-ith a herring!!
  16. No. He's Chris Wallace. Just quit his job and probably moving to CNN. We should all wish him well.
  17. My uncle went by Jim. His name was Albert Owen (mylastname). I think I was in my 30s before I found out his real name since NO ONE ever called anything but Jim. Turns out that his father, during WWI, was in the Army and someone in his outfit said he didn't look like an Albert, he looked like a Jim and it stuck. So, when my uncle was born (he was the oldest), he got named after my grandpa and apparently the nickname came with it...
  18. That Chinaman is giving you a serious stink eye...
  19. If it bleeds, it leads... Sensational bad news sells papers (or generates clicks). It sucks...
