  1. I flew the Emirates A380 Business Class several years ago. It was mind blowing. Especially having an actual bar with hot stewardesses to serve you. The seating was huge and comfortable and food was awesome. So, I go to book my next work trip on the Emirates to Singapore a few months later. It gets kicked back by travel since I was supposed to only book American flagged airlines due to the Fly America Act. I told them that's only for gov't funded programs and I was working on an IR&D one - so it should be ok. NOPE! Asshole wouldn't approve it. So, instead of having my company pay $4500 for A++ service on the Emirates A380 for me, I had to get American's B- service...for $11500. Fucking ridiculous.
  2. It's Red Flag on NPI...assume it's the same in Port A. Wish the tourists understood what that meant...it's NOT a just a warning on Red Flag days. So sad when this happens.
  3. @justhookit Meant to tag you so'd see this....
  4. So, is Shorty's moving? Or is it just closing down? If they're closing down I want to grab my uncle's and cousin's hats before they tear it down. It's a sentimental thing. We're all coming up that way Wednesday around 1300 to hang out and have a few drinks to celebrate them. And when I say, we're all, I'm going to have 20-30 people.
  5. @justhookit @horn4life I finally remembered to take a pic of how far the dunes are back after Hanna last summer. Before Hanna, the dunes were right up to that marker. Now you can drive behind it easily.
  6. Meh. People who GO to the beach leave a lot of trash behind. On NPI and Port A, it's really not practical to not let people drive/park on the beach. They'd have to remove a large amount of dune area to allow for parking. And hell, it's something like 10 miles from Access Rd 5 to Access Rd 6. People can't walk hauling their shit that far. The NPI/Port A beaches are different than many other beaches around the world. And I'd agree on those others. I go to St Martin every year. It's actually not practical to allow driving on their beaches, plus, there's easy access to them without driving on them.
  7. Have you been to Port A or NPI beaches? There are only a few access roads to get to them. And the beach is about a quarter mile from PR22 down those access roads on NPI. The dunes are there to protect the island and the mainland. The vehicles don't really cause much of a problem that any other beach doesn't have. It's PEOPLE congestion.
  8. I've tried to avoid leaving the house on NPI this weekend. Traffic is HORRIBAD on the island from the pics I've seen and reports from folks that were OTB. The causeway was backed up to Flour Bluff Rd yesterday according to a friend of mine. I do NOT want to see what the beaches on NPI or Port A look like.
  9. When I lived up in Weatherford, I'd drive down to see my folks at Medina Lake via SH16 through Fredricksburg. From San Saba to Fredricksburg, it's just beautiful. Then I'd take 87 to Comfort, I10 to 46 and head over to Pipe Creek then to Lakehills on the last leg to my folks. 46 to my folks house was always the best.
  10. I live on N Padre Island. If Port A was anything like today here, I pity everyone that was on the beach. And I didn't even go to the beach. I just drove to the IGA and it was an utter clusterfuck.
  11. We had breakfast at El Buen Pescador in Port Isabel last time I was down and it was pretty damn good.
  12. There is plenty of video evidence of masked morons bitching out non-masked people for not wearing masking. You don't even have to go looking for it. What's your point? People are assholes. Persons tend not to be...
  13. Can they declare the disaster ad infinitum?
  14. BTW... EVERYONE is FREE to wear a mask. There is no mandate to NOT wear one. Mask up to your heart's content!!! I don't care and neither does anyone else.
  15. Can you show me where these entities were granted the power to mandate masks? It has to be codified somewhere, right? Because, all the government entities are granted their powers from the state gov't in Texas...
  16. The local gov't only had the power to issue mandates because king Abbott granted it to them last year with his emergency EOs. So, are you happy you have a king Abbott or mad you have a king Abbott?
  17. Well, most of the restaurants here on N Padre have shortages in both FOH and BOH... Next time I stop at the ones I frequent I'll ask the owners what the issue is...
  18. They LEFT Gaza, gave it to the Palestinians and were rewarded with rocket attacks. THAT is why they went back in to stop shit.
  19. I live in S Texas. Every time I come back from Port Mansfield I go through a checkpoint. I live through it. But then, most of us down here don't want to kill a bunch of people after we get past the checkpoint. And the hispanic folks down here mostly don't say we "stole" the land from them. Probably because they know their ancestors stole it from New Spain. BTW, I could seriously not care less what you call me. I think I shall call you фаллоимитатор
  20. I don't. They're smarter than you...
  21. You tip at fast food restaurants? Or in Europe where they don't have our tipping structure? Cool. Although I've been chastised in Paris for tipping...
  22. When you attack someone and lose, they didn't steal it. Hope you're not in Texas - where we stole the land from New Spain (fuck Mexico, they only had it for 20 something years after they stole it from New Spain). International law is completely biased against Israel. Hell, the UN Human Rights Council has China, Russia, Cuba, and Pakistan on it. Complete bastions of human rights protections right there... And it's not an apartheid state. Just because you repeat the lie doesn't make it true... There were no attacks on the free press. Yes. I know...I saw that and went "fuck" that I'd spelled it incorrectly. I'll try to do better for you. Well, not us. As I said earlier, Iran and Russia (Interesting to know that Russia isn't the bad guy anymore, though) should step up their game since they're the ones supplying the weapons. At least if they provided Hamas with guided weapons they wouldn't land indiscriminately... Not that I actually advocate that idiocy, but I was following your lead...
  23. So, firing rockets - that are unguided - towards inhabited areas is NOT a crime against humanity?
  24. Perhaps the AP shouldn't shack up with Hamas and then claim aggrieved status...
