  1. Downtown or Southside?
  2. I understood that they were 2 separate requirements. AA has requirements like that. But, I thought he was discussing getting the status PAST that flight. And WTF did the 40/segment x 4 = 160/segment shit come into play in that discussion? I'm going to guess that not everyone on here works for TPG and speaks in travelese....
  3. BTW, totally unrelated to the spat above... If you're AA, check your account. I had a Status Challenge to Platinum available yesterday. 3 months at Plat and you get to keep it if you meet the criteria, I think 12K EQMs and $2K EQDs or something close to that. Allowed me to bump my seats for my next 2 trips up to Main Cabin Extra for the legroom at least.
  4. Where do you tell me anything about BA Silver in this? Or oneworld lounge access? How do I get 600 tier points? Is it related to the 40/segment? But, then, 4 segments only gets 160 which is <<< than 600 for the 4 segments. Do you see how that could be a bit cryptic?
  5. Well, for starters, you didn't say anything about either of those????
  6. Don't have Flagship access...The advice above was a little cryptic in trying to get it too... Now, I just did a status challenge with AA today so I'm Platinum now,. Maybe that'll help.
  7. The normal time we arrive on gameday weekends - 0945 or so. Usually there's a bit of a line but this one stretched all the way to the back. Sat down to eat at 1130. Only 2 briskets left after we got our food. And a bit of sausage. Chicken ran out at 0848 (they write it on a sign by the door). All sides were gone.
  8. Went to Snow's last weekend. Line was insane. I've never seen it that long. Food was worth it, though. Snow's always delivers in the flavor department. Had my nephew's GF with and she mentioned that sometimes places get so hyped that when you get there you're disappointed...and she was NOT disappointed.
  9. FWIW, Centurion Club >>> Admirals Club Admirals Club charges you for drinks if you're not getting well liquor or the bottom end beer. And food selection is meh. Don't get me wrong, though, it's better than NO lounge by a long shot.
  10. You actually pay those grifters???
  11. If you're jonesing for one of these...and I am... Go to Taco Casa and get a Chilada... In fact...I think a some of the items that used to be on the original TB menu are still on the Taco Casa menu... You want Pintos and Cheese? Order the Frijoles. I mentioned the Chilada. BTW, the Chili Burger is REALLY good.
  12. Why did I first read this as Moose Knuckle when I glanced at it?
  13. I remember those days from my childhood in England...SOOOOOO good.
  14. They still remember the abomination? Either that or "Taco Bell" is code speak for "Cartels"
  15. I DID find out last week that our research center is going to building up another office in downtown in the old JC Penney building (which TAMU-CC bought a few years ago). Since, I'll be in charge of a lot of the stuff that gets set up in that center I may be spending more time downtown than I ever have. Will be interesting...maybe I'll finally have an excuse to try all these places down there since I won't immediately leave the Bluff and head straight back OTB....
  16. Did you mean N Padre Island and not Port A? Because all of those are here on NPI.
  17. Surprised you didn't say the McRib...
  18. I had Palenque several times when I was staying down in Harlingen this summer. That stuff is the shit. I was impressed!
  19. WTF is the hate for KFC? It's fried chicken. Not the greatest, but still good.
  20. Between those two, I'd say the AMEX Plat is the better choice. Points are considered more valuable than the AA miles and are easier to use IMO. LOTS more perks $200 Travel credit $179 CLEAR Credit (this is really handy at quite a few airports - especially since so many people have TSA Pre so the lines aren't that much shorter) Centurion Lounge access (and Priority Pass lounges) $200 Uber Cash And more... As you can see above, just those 3 credits above pretty much pay for the annual fee ($595) Now...I don't really have much experience with the Chase Sapphires...so you might want to wait and have someone with more experience with them let you know if it's better than the Platinum. The only downside I've found with the Platinum is that every once in awhile some place won't accept AMEX (paid a bill yesterday on my condo and that happened).
  21. I remember when I first moved to the US in 1978 and could not find any Salt and Vinegar chips (crisps) anywhere. Somewhere around my freshman year at A&M my uncle that lived in Iowa found some and sent me several bags... I destroyed them and then realized I was now back to status quo. SOOOOOOOOOO glad that the US realized how glorious they are...
