  1. Beach is open on NPI except for the Bob Hall area (because it is going to have to be torn down and replaced). But, I know we were expecting a clusterfuck here. It didn't happen though...
  2. @justhookitHow's the beach up there in Port A? I'm pleasantly surprised that our beaches here aren't just swamped with people. Much more sparse than earlier this year. Now...Corpus planted a shit ton of cops on the island to deal with what they thought was going to be an onslaught though...so be careful if you're driving after having a few on the beach. And it looks like they're dismantling that oil rig that blew...
  3. Yeah. That would be really cool getting up there in the air and looking down would be badass.
  4. Phantom 4 has around a 1 kg payload. A drone with a 5 kg payload is considerably bigger than that. We have some that have 5 kg payloads here at the office and they dwarf the size of a Phantom. But yeah those fishing drones are cool. I keep telling my boss we need to try that sometime. BTW, that smoked Amberjack dip at Giggity's is AWESOME.
  5. Lots of money? The Port is one of the top revenue ports in the US already. If VLCCs can come in it'll make a LOT more money for the area. Maybe then they can fix a fucking street or two...
  6. Yesterday was interesting on NPI. Sounded like a jet was taking off all day long. Turns out that the Magellan rig right off shore had a gas blowout and was venting all day...
  7. This is also good. Maybe add a little Limburger for some extra punch!
  8. They did NOT have that when I was in school...those fuckers.
  9. Well, apparently SOME parts of NPI are opening back up to vehicle traffic. Access Rd 5 and Windward (and I think Whitecap). But, it's still closed south of Bob Hall due to clean up from Hanna (and PINS is still closed, but heard they might open later this week). Access Rd 4 is also closed due to sand from Hanna.
  10. The also have surprisingly decent pizza...
  11. Well, just drove out to Whitecap. Cars parked on it from Windward to the beach and they've still got barricades up. Oh well...
  12. I may go drive out and check it in a bit. As far as I know, we're still on vehicle lockdown. But, y'all at least have the excuse that you have your own PD. We're still part of CC and mainland CC only cares about us for the insane amount of taxes we send them...
  13. 6 feet is for when you're walking past someone. The distance should be larger for people who are seated and in proximity for a chunk of time. That's not what the CDC says https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/social-distancing.html#:~:text=Social distancing%2C also called “physical, both indoor and outdoor spaces. But, let's please not turn this into a Rona thread...
  14. BTW, I recommend Jacala off West Ave for Tex Mex...My dad grew up literally 3 blocks from there (off Santa Barbara). It's been there since the 40s and is pretty damn good. It's our go to when I meet my Dad in SA.
  15. I grew up in SA in the late 70s-mid 80s, too. I didn't mind SA...big town with small town feel almost. But I don't even recognize it now. My folks moved to Lakehills (Medina Lake) after I graduated HS (Madison). So, I drove through Helotes a ton back then. Holy Shit, I was just back there a few weeks ago and it was like I was in DFW. Almost got completely turned around it was so different. Still, it seems like a pretty cool place to live now.
  16. I live on N Padre Island. 20 min south of Port A.
  17. BTW...I DID give y'all some food porn from Per Se. I didn't hate it in NYC. It was fine.
  18. That's great!!!! And I will enjoy it here in Corpus...
  19. No. It's other people pissing on me because they're butthurt I don't genuflect to NYC.
  20. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one...have fun with yours...and your opinion too,👍
  21. Nah, not you. The poster I was responding to...I just kept your quote in my reply for context...👍
  22. Yeah...we may revolt over here, too. We're getting pretty close to going nuclear on Canales. And when they first opened it up for restaurants, yeah, it was a clusterfuck, but they really did start to manage it a lot better after that. I think the tourist scene is different here than up in Port A, though...even though we're so close. It's just a different vibe between the 2 places. We tend to have a lot more laid back atmosphere.
  23. If trends continue, I fully expect a new ban over Labor Day weekend... And while I think the masks are dumb as shit and mostly useless (I don't want to turn this thread into a Rona thread so, please, people don't do that), if it will get things back to normal quicker I'll suck it up for now (not just wandering around outside not near people though). And I'd do restaurants at 50% indoors if they can do the 6 ft thing (what's the difference between 6 ft in Walmart and 6 ft at Fins?). Other than that, I'm with you on the plan.
  24. My first post was asking about what to do there (with a comment about not going back) LITERALLY, the next post I made started like this: Die? Nope. I'm just not that big of a city person
