  1. There was a good amount of seaweed on the beach on Sunday south of Bob Hall (not far, maybe 1/4 mile down). Pretty busy, but I've seen it MUCH worse in the past year.
  2. Some recent photos of Midland...
  3. I didn't realize it had been cancelled. All the traffic on the bridge and we all just assumed it was still on. This weekend was pretty busy on NPI too - not quite the 4th busy, but not far off. Summer will be a charlie foxtrot at this rate...
  4. Just saw that Marie Sharps has a new limited edition sauce https://mariesharpsusa.com/collections/store/products/new-red-hornet-pepper-sauce-limited-edition-marie-s-hottest Made with a Red Hornet pepper which is a cross between a scotch bonnet and a Carolina Reaper...
  5. BTW, in case you hadn't heard, Waves/Schlitterbahn is coming down sometime...not sure of the timeline but at least the eyesore will be gone...
  6. I've only seen it from 361 on my way to/from Port A. Maybe I'll take a short detour and check it out next time. Heard lots of good recs on here. Of course, I won't stay there since I already live on NPI, but it's cool to look at stuff. And this cold stuff sucks. I was hoping to get out and do stuff this weekend but it's just too cold for that shit. Of course, maybe PINS is less busy because of it.
  7. Since COVID hit, it's been a LOT busier here on the island. Every weekend is packed, regardless of season. My condo which usually doesn't rent much from the end of Spring Break to mid may has been booked solid both last year and this year. We've even gone out to the beach mid week and had to drive miles down the beach to find a spot - in April. It's helping the island economy though, so that's a plus.
  8. Holy shit was PINS packed this weekend. We decided to head down and take the dogs so they could run around a bit...we drove several miles down and it still looked like Whitecap Beach. Completely full of cars. So, we turned around and took the dogs on the boat out to the ski canals and let them run there. I was surprised how busy it was - like a holiday weekend. Dunes are back about 20 ft from before Hanna, though, since you were looking at that info.
  9. You could drop the wife off at the winery up the road in Long Mott...
  10. Check out the Azores. They're Portuguese islands about 800 miles east of Portugal in the Atlantic. You can get super cheap deals there flying out of Boston. Go check out all the different islands. It's kinda cool.
  11. I'm a huge fan of Marie Sharp's. But, when I was in St Maarten over Christmas we had a lot of the Matouks, both West Indian and the Calypso...All the BBQ places and Lolos had this as a condiment. Came home and ordered some from Amazon. We also hung out at Fat Tony's most nights and he's got a couple of hot sauces that he makes. Both are great. The Regular is great on EVERYTHING. Wings, meat, bloody mary's, as a dipping sauce for fries, etc... He's also got a Mango Habanero that rocks... I grabbed 6 bottles of the Regular before we left...he was out of the mango...
  12. This is in pesos, right?
  13. Didn't see any ice on the canals. Would figure that would ice over first.
  14. Considering how many fish it killed in the Gulf, I doubt anything could have helped this... And I think they're some kind of pump. I never was 100% sure.
  15. Do you know exactly when they're shutting down Shorty's? It's really going to suck when it's gone.
  16. They've removed over 160,000 lbs of dead fish so far...
  17. The freeze on N Padre was BAD. The canals are STILL full of dead fish and that's after they've literally had vacuum trucks pulling tons of them out of the water. The stench in some places is heinous. Luckily, we only had a few dead ones in our canal... The water is just really shallow and the freeze was REALLY long (it was below freezing for at least 48 hrs). Go look at all the palm trees - a large number of them will have to be removed because they're dead.
  18. I had to go to the DMV this week so I headed to the one in Port A (the one in Corpus is a cluster f&%). They were physically tearing down the Giggity's building at the time. Sad times...
  19. As I questioned before. What are you doing to do with a US citizen? Where are you going send them when you deny their entry? Back to where they came from? What if that country won't let them in?
  20. I wonder what the constitutionality is with denying a legal US citizen entry into the US. Yeah yeah. I get the COVID and all that, but still. A US is not allowed into their own country???? BTW, I'm not trying to Cloak Room this. It just seems like a bad precedent.
  21. Official rule from SXM is NOBODY from boats gets off. They can quarantine though. Looks like someone broke the rules... BTW it was weird seeing 4 cruise ships in Phillipsburg and the whole place was a ghost town. Because those ships had no passengers.
  22. My GF and I did 2 weeks in Sint Maarten over Christmas and New Years. Negative test to get there. Probably the safest place to be because you can't get there if you have the Rona. And neither can anyone else...
  23. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
  24. There is... When I moved here in Aug of 2018 I realized I had never been on the island during football season. So, the weekend before the first game, I literally went to every single place on the island that had beer and TVs to figure out where I'd go for games... The top 2 were Costa Sur and the Boathouse. So, I generally rotated between those two. But...another thing that comes with a good sports bar is a lot of hot waitresses and I've heard that HK has those. I'll probably go check on HK tomorrow before hitting the beach.
  25. I've had a few upgrades to First on AA this past year. They announced they are not doing any drink service of the PA and then proceeded to give me the booze I asked for. But, food was just upgraded snacks and maybe a sandwich or something. Less than you normally got.
