  1. Huh? What makes it Hillary-esque rather than Obama-esque?
  2. My guess is that every chicken option there is really about selling sides and sodas, which have the highest margin by far. They were selling a ton of those marked-up empty calories with the sandwiches. And if the goal of the sandwiches wasn't to bring in new customers who would otherwise go to Chick-fil-A, what was the point? They came out with a sandwich many if not most people think is better than Chick-fil-A's, but have cemented an impression that you won't get your sandwich quickly (or at all) if you choose Popeyes. That's a wasted opportunity, IMO.
  3. I think they'd have it back by now if it were intentional. They're losing a lot of money and brand goodwill at this point.
  4. Trump's new national security advisor is the hostage negotiator who was his point man on pointlessly flailing in the effort to help that rapper in Sweden. Sounds like we're in good hands.
  5. I forget who it was, but one of the anti-M4A Dem candidates argued in the first debate that unions would never want to give up the great private plans they negotiate for. Counterpoint:
  6. Unbelievable is really fucking good. Some depressing stuff, but good police investigation drama based on a true story.
  7. Wait, Bernie is at 5% among blacks?
  8. From what I understand, the government would pay off the debts in each scenario.
  9. 4 hours after the speech? That's incredible.
  10. Hollywood is paying him a six-figure salary, which he is happy to accept.... IN THE NAME OF CHRIST, of course!
  11. He's waiting for orders from the Kingdom. What else is there to do?
  12. Edit: My mistake, old (corrected) info on WFP vote.
  13. So Trump doesn't understand the whole king is dead/long live the king thing.
  14. Latest Morning Consult, all post-debate: https://morningconsult.com/2020-democratic-primary/ Biden, Sanders, and Warren are essentially tied for the second choice of each other's supporters. But Liz is the only candidate who has gained any ground since May, since which she's more than doubled her support. Also, she is by far the second choice of Harris supporters (28% vs Biden 18, Bernie 12) and basically tied with Biden as second choice of Pete supporters (25% vs Biden 23, Harris 13).
  15. If Trump isn't lying, which he almost certainly is, this is exactly what happened.
  16. Just happened live. Sorry about the source, this is the first video link I could find on twitter search:
  17. Trump now lying about the state of our military when he took office. A "sir" story that Mattis told him 3 years ago that our military was out of ammunition.
  18. To that point, Bernie is now shaking up his NH staff to counter Warren: https://www.politico.com/story/2019/09/15/bernie-sanders-campaign-new-hampshire-1497448 He's probably also waiting to see the results of Biden attacking Warren more.
  19. Totally. I mean, let's assume that the WFP members wanted Bernie (which I don't know). That makes it all the more impressive that she swooped in and stole the endorsement away. And it's another encouraging data point for the candidate running as the most progressive option who can actually get shit done politically.
  20. Yep. And she was supposedly in crisis when her financial chair left the campaign after she decided not to do high-dollar fundraisers. Aside from what one thinks about her policy views, the way she's run this campaign is just so damn impressive.
  21. I just can't get around Bernie's flat polling for the last 6 months on this chart: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/2020_democratic_presidential_nomination-6730.html. It's fine when you're way out in first place, like Biden, but if not, how can you argue that nothing needs to change? I guess if you think you can win Iowa and New Hampshire, maybe things will snowball, but Warren’s playing hard for those states while also steadily rising in national polls.
  22. I don't know how he even can, honestly. She drank his milkshake without even attacking him — in fact, while bear-hugging him. I think he just has to hope that she gets sunk by some other thing.
  23. Well, it's done, so I guess we'll see if this sinks the Dems or, conversely, if confiscation starts polling more strongly. I'm interested in the results for sure. I don't dispute that the middle will find it off-putting in the short term. That's part of the process of changing narratives. But I don't think that comes from a place of innate and unchangeable political judgment inside. I think it's a product of the conventional wisdom that has dominated for the past while, which itself was created by political messaging. And I think that the more that gets displaced by new political messaging, the less off-putting it will be, until it's the new normal. The only thing that is truly and innately off-putting in this debate is the slaughter of innocent people going about their daily lives. El Paso and Newtown and the rest. If Dems get real, that will win out over depriving yahoos of the fun of emptying their magazines for kicks.
  24. So what do the "Obama bows and apologizes!" morons have to say about Trump awaiting orders for war from "the Kingdom"?
