  1. Also, Warren overtaking Biden as second choice for Sanders supporters is huge for her. 29 - 14 is a big split, too. Actually, it looks like she's the top 2nd choice for every candidate.
  2. Yeah. I don't think your take is unreasonable, and maybe it's right if we assume nothing changes before Iowa. But I think Warren's trajectory will change things by then, making it a two person race with Biden. And maybe it's moot, because if I'm right, she'll probably win Iowa anyway, in which case you'll be right too.
  3. I know that you aren't that naive. Israel is a (the) Jewish nation. Saying that Israel has hypnotized the world means that the Jews running Israel have hypnotized the world. You might as well say that Ken Cuccinelli and Trump aren't talking about white people when they talk about European culture and immigrants. That doesn't mean it's necessarily anti-semitic to criticize Israel, just as it isn't necessarily white supremacist to praise Europeans. But the context of the hypnotize comment is that Jews controlling the world is perhaps the most damaging anti-semitic trope in history. In addition, it isn't remotely true as a factual matter, for the reasons hpslugga points out. Most of the world hates Israel — whether or not you agree that hatred is justified. So what exactly is a non-anti-semitic meaning to that statement? At best, she made a mistake, and I accept her apology on that basis.
  4. Her track record with those tropes isn't great. She also tweeted in 2012 that "Israel has hypnotized the world" and said more recently that the pro-Israel position is about "allegiance to a foreign country." That said, she's apologized, and it seemed sincere enough to me. I could be wrong, but I don't really get the Cynthia McKinney anti-semitic vibe from her. Either way, Trump's overstatement of what she's said is disgraceful, and his self-serving effort to divide American support for Israel along partisan lines is more damaging thing for Israel that I've ever seen from an American politician.
  5. There's a difference between being a shitty poster who believes in stupid conspiracy theories and the kind of Russian misinformation that TCU was intentionally disseminating.
  6. I'm not sure what about my characterization you are claiming is absurd. She praised Bernie for his enormous political courage and said we're lucky to have him and Warren and Castro. Those were very positive comments about Bernie to any reasonable observer. Commenters called her "disappointing" and a "coward" and said "you get worse by the day" (with tons of likes) and said they were "heartbroken" because the "language" of her praise for Bernie was too "defensive," and not "unequivocal" and made "concessions" about other candidates. And they criticized her for being about to "pull a Warren on us," warned of the consequences "if you endorse anyone other than Bernie," and made a bunch of posts about why Warren is much worse than Bernie.
  7. Bullshit. TCU was literally posting Russian misinformation and memes. Like, stuff that later appeared in government reports, and from Twitter accounts that were later publicly identified as Russian fronts.
  8. Chaser: Is there a single Trump supporter who isn't totally cucked by this guy?
  9. AOC tweeted glowing praise for Bernie's response on Israel, and the comments are all trashing her for not praising him more strongly, and condemning her for probably endorsing Warren soon, who they hate because she didn't endorse Bernie in 2016. Sigh.
  10. These Republican assholes are giving more publicity to BDS than it ever would have gotten otherwise.
  11. I think he's going back to the hornfans days. That's when I remember many of these folks being Republicans.
  12. I think it's a good strategy, and that it means he's running for VP now. It could significantly raise his national and swing state approval numbers, which will matter more for the Veep choice than competing in early primaries.
  13. Well, it is over a 3 month period of time, and Warren has made some big gains in that time period.
  14. Am I missing something or does this not say anything about who the second choice is specifically for Harris and Buttigieg voters? And Morning Consult is a legit poll with a respectable B- from 538. You make it sound like the drudge internet poll.
  15. No, Warren has overtaken Biden as the second-choice candidate for both Harris and Buttigieg: https://morningconsult.com/2020-democratic-primary/ And she has much more upside to grow on that by Iowa than Biden, IMO.
  16. That analysis doesn't make sense to me in a race with so many contenders. Harris, Sanders, and Buttigieg will all have significant support still by Iowa. You're telling me that Warren beating all three of them wouldn't show, or at least improve the perception, that she's the strongest alternative to Biden for their supporters? I don't buy it.
  17. If she finishes second to Biden, why wouldn't it just narrow the race to the two of them going forward?
  18. Good question. I don't know what she proposes, but I can't imagine it would be difficult to drastically narrow down the pool. You can't amass more than $50 million without earning or inheriting a significant chunk of change, so the IRS could probably review past income tax filing data and send out a notice to like 95% of Americans that they don't have to file a wealth tax form.
  19. That would only be true if a super-rich person keeps literally all of their wealth in cash or things that depreciate in value. And if that's the case, there's even less value to society in letting them sit on those assets for 50 years, so yeah, tax the hell out of such a person. In reality, the assets themselves grow in value over time, much more than the 2-3% tax.
  20. Good start to the season. Minor nitpick, the one miss to me was the line "my lawyer used to work for the Justice Department." Maybe it's because I live in DC, but DOJ lawyers are everywhere here and aren't necessarily better than law firm lawyers. It's not unimpressive, but a guy like Logan Roy would have said "my lawyer used to run the Justice Department," i.e. is a former attorney general.
  21. Maybe Trump Wines will come out with a special run of "36 crimes" wines that tell the life stories of the various white supremacists.
  22. Time to send in the exploding robot
