  1. I’m not sure if the Dems win on this. End of the day, there are a lot of Americans who would cheer a President murdering drug runners. Duterte got pretty popular in the Philippines following that path, at least for a while. I think Hegseth is more hiding behind Bradley than throwing him under the bus. Bradley was promoted to this role during Trump’s time; he may be a MAGA believer. If Bradley stands behind the order, then the Dems need to attack Bradley to get to Trump or Hegseth. For the ignorant electorate, it’s easy for MAGA to message that as the left wing radicals attacking the patriotic military in defense of those narcoterrorist drug runners. But, as with many battles, it needs to be fought even if you might get hurt.
  2. I always figured it's because of the cheesy Paul Revere and the Raiders song. So proud to live; so proud to die.
  3. It looks like Bradley spent a fair amount of his career with the Navy Seals. For certain types of missions, where the options to take prisoners are very limited and you are worried about anyone raising an alarm, I can where leadership is pretty flexible regarding the rules of engagement. But this wasn't that type of mission. There were no American servicemen at risk. There were no civilians at risk, other than those we murdered. I'm hoping this will get people to start paying attention to this potential war with Venezuela. It was largely flying under the radar. I would rather have the discussion now, before Americans starting getting martyred. Once you get flag covered caskets, the public tends to lose perspective for a few years.
  4. Per his wiki page, Bradley became the commander of the United States Special Operations Command on October 3rd, 2025. Admiral Holsey's resignation was announced on October 16th, but his position was the "head" of US Southern Command. The first boat was struck on September 1st. So, no, Bradley was not a replacement for Holsey. It sounds like Holsey was not directly in charge of the operation, but probably was involved and resigned. Bradley may be fucked. I hope someone confiscates his side arm.
  5. As someone who has trolled Bacon many times, that really doesn't sound like him. The most likely possibility is that a staffer went rogue. It's also possible a consultant suggested putting more bite into his social media as part of a Presidential run - because Trump redefined what "Presidential" is.
  6. This admiral resignation from six weeks ago just became more interesting. This guy is likely restrained from testifying unless Congress asks. So, do we get enough Republicans willing to sign onto to that invitation? Or do the Dems need to win the midterms to drive it? https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2025/10/16/us-navy-commander-overseeing-venezuelan-strikes-steps-down/
  7. Jesus, that reads like Karoline called in the hit on a custody issue involving her brother. I mean, maybe it's not, but there would be zero safeguards to prevent it and Karoline seems just like that kind of bitch.
  8. For those planning to engage in good trouble, make sure you and someone you trust have access to a reasonable amount of cash for bail. Write phone #s on your arm.
  9. It’s a small crew at the the Tuco household this Thanksgiving : my vegetarian wife, vegan brother, and vegan sister-in-law. That makes me the right wing asshole.
  10. Tyson closing beef processing plant in Lexington NE. The plant employs 3200 people in a town of 11,000. The response from the all-Republican Congressional delegation really warms my heart. So many thoughts. So many prayers. For a minute I was worried they didn’t have a plan.
  11. Correct me if I am wrong, but the current hearing is the defense asking the judge to dismiss the indictment with prejudice, due to malicious prosecution. (I'm hazy on the terms there.). Since that is very rarely granted, I am curious if the judge might just say there is no valid indictment to dismiss, and sidesteps the bigger question on whether the prosecution overall is malicious.
  12. I'm going to assume you've never worked at any places I've worked. I know plenty of boomer/gen-x types who are working 60 hour weeks. I ain't one of them because I fully recognize the company will take all that the company can.
  13. “Chatbot, how do we end poverty?” “Tax the rich.”
  14. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to the opinion that bad people is more about bad situations and bad brain chemistry. Jesus’s message to not judge, just love, rings truer as I get balder. But I’d still beat the shit out of Stephen Miller given the chance.
  15. Follow-up question: how would that affect her eventual Supreme Court nomination?
  16. They know...they fucking know......are they high, too?
  17. Here is where we learn the difference between figuratively (Paxton) and literally (Bondi).
  18. He always has that look of someone trying to not look stoned, and failing.
  19. I assume you can veto it, but it would go back to Congress to override. Which would force an override vote, giving Republicans and decision to either side with President or get re-elected. I assume Trumps signs it, releases a portion, and the fights the rest - either legally or illegally. Because who is going to force him.
  20. Going back to the elections earlier this year, it's worth mentioning Katie Wilson's defeat of Bruce Harrell in the Seattle mayoral election. While Seattle isn't nearly the size of NYC, her election surprised me much more than Mamdani's. Harrell is a moderate Democrat. The two biggest things I disagreed with him on was that he was more aggressive on clearing homeless camps and that he refused to put in traffic calming measures (speed bumps, cross walks) on a road near my house that is popular with pedestrians and bikers. Wilson, is okay with being called a Democratic Socialist, had pushed for a payroll tax, had previously pushed for defunding the police, and is big into mass transit. I don't think she's ever held public office. I'm not sure if this Facebook post will show, but she had previously been struggling with daycare expenses. She may be the most surprising mayor of a major city that I can think of. Of the People, by the People, for the People. Facebook post picture below. "After much deliberation and a grueling interview process, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve accepted a new job and will not need any financial support from my parents to cover the high costs of childcare going forward. #AmericanDream #thisisyourcity"
  21. I remember Black Nazis. Donald was just getting his heroes confused.
  22. He won't be anymore. https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/border-patrol-agent-dead-overdose-arrest-video-b2865508.html I have sympathy for his family. I have more sympathy for the families he terrorized.
  23. I'm guessing Trump doesn't like the Vindman twins. For those who don't recall, Alexander had testified to Congress leading up to Trump's first impeachment regarding his blackmail of Zelensky. Eugene was on the NSC and had forwarded the "perfect phone call" transcript to White House lawyers. It is entirely possible he will be involved in the third impeachment of Trump, if the Dems can take the House in 26. I knew Eugene was running in 24, but didn't realized he won. I wasn't reading much news in the election aftermath.
  24. My guess is the House version was pretty broad, without much in the way of cutouts. That is probably why he wanted the amendments - something to give the Administration some flexibility in what they released. I just think it's funny he voted for something he didn't want to become law.
  25. Omaha Public Power District just announced they expect a 5-9% increase on rates, per year, through the end of the decade. No mention of the Facebook and Google data centers recently developed in the service area in the release.
