  1. He was trying to get $100M in PAC money, and he was successful. Hopefully it does $100M worth of damage.
  2. I have to say that image with this thread title makes me laugh. Not out loud. In loud. LIL!
  3. Then I guess there is no reason to go to Sioux City.
  4. There is a restaurant outside the meat packing plant in South Sioux City that gives you a free, vanilla soft serve ice cream cone with every meal. That’s the only good thing I have to say about the area.
  5. I’m sure they’ve filed for permits. But, they will likely leave those permitted zones and block traffic. The goal of protests is to be in the news. They are trying to get eyeballs on their cause. My bigger concern is the Chicago PD. They are famously corrupt, likely ProTrump, and cops know how to turn a protest into a “riot.” I hope the Chicago political machine is all over this to keep the cops inline.
  6. It’s not like al pastor is spicy. Nor is a typical taco. That may be why Kamala was surprised. Generally, the only thing spicy about a taco is if you put a hot sauce on it. At least that’s been my middle aged, white, midwestern guy experience.
  7. Of the 24 Presidential Medals of Freedom awards that Trump distributed, 12 were primarily known for sports. There were also Devin Nunes, Anthony Scalia, Jim Jordan, Orrin Hatch, and Rush Limbaugh. These are the people who Trump considers the equals to Congressional Medal of Honor recipients.
  8. Yeah. Within six months he was chased by a mob of bloodthirsty morons. Beware the fly, assholes.
  9. Maybe Kamala is a witch and the fly is her familiar.
  10. Or at least he should claim he does for the Wisconsin vote. Violent Femmes as well.
  11. Well, there are supply chain issues. The main reasons: 1. Hot economy, particularly for any gear used to build data centers. 2. Continued challenges with an aging infrastructure. 3. Climate change causing a drought in Panama, greatly reducing the number of ships that can transit. (The canal uses water from a lake, and that lake is low.)
  12. Vance: "This is not the last time you're going to see me." Narrator: "VFA Post 92 would never see him again."
  13. The pending Krogers-Albertson merger is definitely concerning.
  14. I am pretty sure that is just for the "independent" split. The FoxNews poll had 1100 RV, which is pretty typical of polls, at least ones that do frequent polling.
  15. From this CNN article: The group that runs the @KamalaHQ TikTok is very young. Run by Parker Butler, 24, with Lauren Kapp, 25, the five-person Gen Z team has been given training and ground rules — and then “empowered to cook online. ”The team “consists of a lot of young people who just get the internet instinctually,” Butler said in a Friday interview with CNN. So, Parker and Lauren would have been 16 and 17 when Trump was sworn in. And, now, to save the planet, they have to troll his ass on a daily basis. I bet they love their jobs. He's terrified of empty seats. He is only going to play venues that he knows he can fill. The optics of empty seats, compared to Kamala's crowds, are something he can't risk.
  16. The ad I would like to see: Video footage on dudes beating Capitol police. Freeze frame. Add graphics to show assailants’ names and that they were found guilty. Then “why does plan to pardon these men?”….”is it because they were following his directions?”…”is it so others will follow in their place?”
  17. I saw this comment out of context and thought we were talking about his suit.
  18. There is a pretty good doc on her. The doc crew was with her on Jan 6.
  19. I agree. And Pillen just failed to pass a shitty real estate tax reform, so isn’t great at twisting arms. Having Trump and MAGA try, particularly this late, is going to piss off moderate Republicans and independents. It could also cause additional fighting between the pub state party and county party. The state party is all MAGA and refused to endorse the 4-term incumbent NE2 Congressman months ago.
  20. Trump/RNC just set up a field office in Omaha. Also, they are making a late push to change to winner-take-all. https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2024/08/13/nebraska-bound-harris-running-mate-tim-walz-to-visit-2nd-district/ I hope this helps Vargas win the seat.
  21. With how the unions seems to be very engaged, I think OH would be certainly easier than TX.
  22. I am sure the door knockers in Ohio will be amazed by how many factory workers follow Olympic women boxing.
  23. At least in Nebraska.... County party leaders are elected by whoever gets through the door on the day of the county convention. I was one of those (voters) in 2018. Normally, county party meetings maybe have 10-20 people for each monthly meeting. On the day of the convention, it was over well 500. Bunch of people I never saw again. It was a hotly contested election between a labor guy and a women who was more involved with campaigns. The woman won, and then the labor guy got elected to vice-chair in an inspiring moment of unity. State party leaders are elected by the delegates selected at the county convention. (I was one of those in 2018). That was a pretty easy election for Jane. I like Jane, but she is full of shit. Our County Chair hated Jane. I feel comfortable stating that on a message board, because Jane already knows it. National delegates are selected at the state level. (I didn't have a chance in hell of that.) So what's my point? These are not top-down organizations. The national party does not decide who is running the state parties. Just doesn't happen. The intraparty politics are just as vicious and way more annoying than the Republican vs. Democrat politics. It turns a lot of people off, including myself. So much arguing over who gets to drive, rather than where we are going. But, if anyone wants to change who is running the state party, the first step is showing up to the meetings. Tahoe will bring donuts.
  24. Yeah, I can imagine inflation affecting the pork plant. But a big part of it would be labor costs. Tighter borders makes it worse. (Another part of it might be higher grocery costs reducing purchases on the high end products.)
