  1. I am pretty sure that is just for the "independent" split. The FoxNews poll had 1100 RV, which is pretty typical of polls, at least ones that do frequent polling.
  2. From this CNN article: The group that runs the @KamalaHQ TikTok is very young. Run by Parker Butler, 24, with Lauren Kapp, 25, the five-person Gen Z team has been given training and ground rules — and then “empowered to cook online. ”The team “consists of a lot of young people who just get the internet instinctually,” Butler said in a Friday interview with CNN. So, Parker and Lauren would have been 16 and 17 when Trump was sworn in. And, now, to save the planet, they have to troll his ass on a daily basis. I bet they love their jobs. He's terrified of empty seats. He is only going to play venues that he knows he can fill. The optics of empty seats, compared to Kamala's crowds, are something he can't risk.
  3. The ad I would like to see: Video footage on dudes beating Capitol police. Freeze frame. Add graphics to show assailants’ names and that they were found guilty. Then “why does plan to pardon these men?”….”is it because they were following his directions?”…”is it so others will follow in their place?”
  4. I saw this comment out of context and thought we were talking about his suit.
  5. There is a pretty good doc on her. The doc crew was with her on Jan 6.
  6. I agree. And Pillen just failed to pass a shitty real estate tax reform, so isn’t great at twisting arms. Having Trump and MAGA try, particularly this late, is going to piss off moderate Republicans and independents. It could also cause additional fighting between the pub state party and county party. The state party is all MAGA and refused to endorse the 4-term incumbent NE2 Congressman months ago.
  7. Trump/RNC just set up a field office in Omaha. Also, they are making a late push to change to winner-take-all. https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2024/08/13/nebraska-bound-harris-running-mate-tim-walz-to-visit-2nd-district/ I hope this helps Vargas win the seat.
  8. With how the unions seems to be very engaged, I think OH would be certainly easier than TX.
  9. I am sure the door knockers in Ohio will be amazed by how many factory workers follow Olympic women boxing.
  10. At least in Nebraska.... County party leaders are elected by whoever gets through the door on the day of the county convention. I was one of those (voters) in 2018. Normally, county party meetings maybe have 10-20 people for each monthly meeting. On the day of the convention, it was over well 500. Bunch of people I never saw again. It was a hotly contested election between a labor guy and a women who was more involved with campaigns. The woman won, and then the labor guy got elected to vice-chair in an inspiring moment of unity. State party leaders are elected by the delegates selected at the county convention. (I was one of those in 2018). That was a pretty easy election for Jane. I like Jane, but she is full of shit. Our County Chair hated Jane. I feel comfortable stating that on a message board, because Jane already knows it. National delegates are selected at the state level. (I didn't have a chance in hell of that.) So what's my point? These are not top-down organizations. The national party does not decide who is running the state parties. Just doesn't happen. The intraparty politics are just as vicious and way more annoying than the Republican vs. Democrat politics. It turns a lot of people off, including myself. So much arguing over who gets to drive, rather than where we are going. But, if anyone wants to change who is running the state party, the first step is showing up to the meetings. Tahoe will bring donuts.
  11. Yeah, I can imagine inflation affecting the pork plant. But a big part of it would be labor costs. Tighter borders makes it worse. (Another part of it might be higher grocery costs reducing purchases on the high end products.)
  12. Yep. I am betting a PAC topped it off.
  13. Ohio is one of them with a tight schedule. Here is an old article talking about doing a roll-call vote ahead of the convention to avoid any issue with getting on the ballot in Ohio. They needed to get it in by Aug 7 to avoid having to force it in the courts. Fun fact: Walz headed up the convention rules committee which pushed up the roll call vote. Edit: I assume the GOP has already sent out the ballot information to Ohio and other states. Changing it now would be much more difficult.
  14. It's mainly a question of getting on the ballot in 50+ different voting authorities. I think the cleanest path would be to ask people to vote for Trump/Vance with the understanding that Trump would step down the day after the inauguration. Which he would never agree to. There is no way to force Trump out now.
  15. I'm curious how involved Stone is. I could see going to him to do opposition research on a VP candidate. Find those skeletons, twist those facts, etc.. It would be interesting to see the reports on the other potential candidates to know what skeletons they have. If they brag about killing dogs as kids, what shit are they hiding. But I am not sure Stone is the guy who would be involved in day-to-day activities. Not only is he a criminal and creepy, he is also 71. But maybe he was in some email groups that got more information than he needed. It doesn't bother me that news agencies haven't published anything yet. The internet is big and the bad actors will find a place to post this shit. I'm cool with it being in September or October. I am curious if the Harris campaign received a copy and has a plan of attack once they are published. I don't think Stone's lifestyle will be a big issue. I don't think there will be much directly from the campaign. But, you know Stone is saying racist shit. You know he is shit talking about interest groups and public figures (Republican and Democrats) in ways that would be embarrassing. For the Podesta hack, there really wasn't much there that was interesting. The right wing media had to really twist and pull shit out of context. I have a vague recollection to a reference to Bill Richardson and Latino voting blocks that may have been indelicate. I think it got conflated with Hillary's State emails (which were never hacked as far as we know) and so it added to the cloud of confusion and caused additional damage. (And of course the Pizza-gaters found all sorts of pasta-related hidden codes.)
  16. Apparently it came from Roger Stone's personal email account. To be honest, I am not sure America is ready to see Roger's personal emails. But, that means Roger Stone is still plugged into the Republican Party enough to be part of the VP vetting process.
  17. Just keep talking old man.
  18. Can we get a "what creepy-fucking thing to say" emoji? Because we are definitely going to need a "what a creepy-weird fucking thing to say" emoji by the time November rolls around.
  19. He suggested ingesting bleach to cure COVID. On TV, he bragged about how he suggested that to doctors. He is really that fucking stupid.
  20. In Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes, they defeat evil by laughing at it. This campaign keeps reminding me of that book.
  21. This, despite the Republicans having a filibuster proof majority. Too many Omahan Republicans want to be relevant nationally. It may be last bastion of local political interests outweighing national party goals. But the redistricting after 2020 moved it a few points red. Still doable with a Biden 2020 vote, but more challenging.
  22. Paraphrasing her from years ago “we need to get away from the ‘soft on crime’ or ‘tough on crime’ mindsets. We need to be ‘smart on crime.” The Vox piece talks about how, being the daughter of a scientist, she had reams of data why she favored certain policies. But, it was still a political atmosphere where using the “top cop” mantle was advantageous, and she leaned into it. So there is some political rhetoric which hasn’t aged that well. But I am not hearing anything from the left that indicates anyone is actually that worried about it. It’s almost exclusively Republicans looking for divisions.
  23. I thought Chicanos specifically identified with their Native American background. They reject Latino and Hispanic labels because both terms are European based. iIRC, most Caribbean-Latino groups don’t have much native heritage because disease wiped out those populations.
  24. Vivek is about to get a nickname from Trump.
  25. You can tell he is really digging into the policies that matter to most Americans.
