  2. Kelly: No turning back from Quinn Ewers now | Opinion Click-baity headline, but it goes into why Ewers was promoted to 2nd string and what the Dolphins will do from here. tl;dr: 1. Ewers ran the scout team all week and wasn't told he'd be 2nd string until Saturday night; 2. Wilson was demoted because he was so bad in practice during the week that McDaniel decided to bench him for a 7th round rookie who'd been running the other teams' plays all season. Wow.

  4. Both Golden and Helm have had significant playing time and are third on their resepctive teams in receptions. Not everyone is going to have a Worthy-like impact as a rookie. I don't agree with Derka's take (I think it's a bit extreme) but I think it's a reach to say that Golden and especiallly Helm (a fourth rounder) aren't living up to their draft slots. There's no question that Arch could use a couple of guys like that right now. This is where I'm at. Injuries really short-circuited his career here and stunted his development. I also think that was the biggest reason for his fall in the draft- in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if most teams took him off of their draft boards entirely after the UTSA game.
  5. Agreed with all of this. I think that's a big reason why FSU is sticking with Norvell (and his buyout). There's also a chance Michigan opens up if Moore doesn't beat Ohio State again.

  7. Something to keep in mind is that Quinn was the scout team QB. It’s unlikely that he’s had any experience practicing Miami’s plays during the season unless he was given some reps in the week leading up to the game (and it sounds like he wasn’t.) He was only in there to finish the game in garbage time. It shouldn’t be a surprise that he struggled.
  8. I think Dillingham is the most likely to stay. He's already shown he can make the playoffs there. It's also an easier place to recruit as long as UCLA and USC are committed to losing. Vandy and GT are just tougher jobs - since they have to compete with the SEC for recruits. GT always seems to have talent but just can't compete with UGA for instate kids. Vandy has the resources and could certainly could match any offer if they chose to do so, but I'd think it's harder to hide academic risks. I'm not sure they'd be willing to have a degree path exclusively for jocks like some schools (looking at you, Cal). That said, all three might just stay until they are a victim of their own success.
  9. FSU is more of a poverty program than people realize. They were nothing before Bobby Bowden and I think they continue to slide. Current recruits weren't even born when he was coach and have little memory of when they were good other than Norvell's miracle year when they were snubbed. FSU has to wait for Florida and Penn State to fill their jobs before they would get to pick, so they might as well just wait until those are filled and ride it out with Norvell. That buyout is also a consideration. Florida and Penn State also have pretty stacked rosters so whomever is going there should have an easier time at first (assuming they can keep the teams together).
  10. Bijan in space = TD
  11. The dead cap hit if they launch Tua is insane. Aaaand Tua gets picked. Ewers might get his chance with the game out of hand.
